The most reviled toy in the entire toy box at daycare way back in the day was the Jack-in-the-Box. It played creepy music, and you never knew when that clown bastard would pop out. If you have kids and want to scare the crap out of them in a way that a standard Jack-in-the-Box can’t, this is the toy for you.

This is Mezco Toyz’ Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Krueger Burst Box. The metal box has images of that knife-fingered nut Freddy on the outside. Spin the green handle and ol’ Fred will pop out with that snazzy red and green sweater, hat, and mincemeat face.

Freddy Krueger Action Figure: Sweet Dreams Ain’t Made of These

Any child of the ’80s who swore to their parents that they could watch A Nightmare on Elm Street and still sleep alone that night will remember the stark terror that Freddy evoked. You will also not forget the laments of your parents saying you would never watch another scary movie as you begged to sleep in their bed.

Now, relive some of those Freddy nightmares from before the flicks went super cheesy with this creepy Mego action figure.

The Freddy Krueger action figure has the Robert Englund face that you remember, and Freddy wears his trademark hat, creepy red and green striped sweater, and that deadly knife finger glove.

The action figure is made from ABS plastic and cloth. It stands 8-inches tall, and has 14-points of articulation let you pose Fred in just about any way you can imagine. ThinkGeek has the action figure for $19.99. Ever wonder if Fred was an X-Men fan?

Funko POP! 8-Bit Horror Figures: Pixel Panic!

Horror fans, check out these sweet Funko POP! collectibles, based on famous evildoers Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees. Unlike other POP! vinyl toys, these ones look like they stepped right out of the screen of a retro video game.

These ThinkGeek special edition figures come in a special color schemes inspired by the NES Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street video games. Each character measures 3 3/4″ tall and is ready to murder all of your other POP! figures in brutal and horrific ways.

Both figures are available now over at ThinkGeek for $11.99 each.

Mezco Toyz Flatzos Horror Plush Toys are Delightfully Flat

When it comes to geeky collectibles, I love me some whimsical plush toys. They’re squeezable and great for tossing around on the couch. Just don’t let the dog get ahold of them. Now, Mezco Toyz has released a new series of collectible plush toys which are more flat than your typical plump plushies.

The new Flatzos collection features flattened-out plush dolls based on pop culture characters, with oversized heads and small bodies. The first three toys in the series are based on iconic horror villains Freddy Krueger, Jason Vorhees (a jolly good fellow), and Chucky.

They measure about 12″ tall each, and have a vibrant full-color print of the character on front. Both Freddy and Chucky also have creepy button eyes, but we just have to imagine that Jason’s are hiding behind his ski mask.

All three toys are available for pre-order now, and are priced at $14 each, or $42 for the set of three. They’re expected to ship sometime between June and August 2018. I’m hoping that they’re a hit, since I’d love to see Mezco add lots of other characters to the series.

TMNT Mashed up with Horror Movie Characters: Sewer Slashin’ Turtles

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have dressed up for Halloween, thanks to Dan Polydoris aka the Chicago Toy Collector. Dan’s Sewer Slashin’ Turtles kitbash sees Splinter’s pupils dressed up as popular bad guys in slasher flicks. Donatello is Freddy Krueger, Michelangelo is Michael Myers, Raphael is Jason Voorhees and Leonardo is Leatherface.

Dan says he was inspired by toy maker Playmates’ barrage of costumed TMNT action figures in the 90s. Hence Dan’s cheesy poster of his action figures. If you’re not familiar with kitbashing, it’s the practice of making a new action figure using parts from other commercially available toys. In this case, most of the parts that Dan used came from various TMNT action figures as well. For example, Donny Krueger’s huge hand is from a robot Bebop action figure. Guess where Raph Voorhees’ mask is from.

It’s a nightmare…on your street. It must suck to live on an Elm Street this time of year. Especially if you come across someone wearing this frightful Nightmare on Elm Street Animated Sweater. Freddy Kreuger Animated Sweater of Souls: Every Day is Halloween

I saw the first couple of Nightmare on Elm Street movies, but never actually made it to Nightmare on Elm Street IV. Apparently, in that movie, Freddy Kreuger makes a serious fashion statement, wearing a sweater filled with the souls of the dead. Now, you can wear the same get-up as Freddy, thanks to the fine folks at Morbid Enterprises.

Forget the sweater. I just love the idea of working for a company called Morbid Enterprises. Though the chest is pretty cool too – it makes horrible noises and the heads move around, moaning “why did he do this to us!?!??” Why, indeed.

The Chest of Souls is slated for release in the 3rd quarter of 2013, so you should be able to get one just in time for Halloween. Though I dare you to wear this to the office on any other day of the year.

As if going to the bathroom at night isn’t scary enough (especially for those who are still afraid of the dark), a bunch of horror-loving folks have come up with this absolutely horrifying Freddy Krueger toilet tank cover. It’s made to cover the toilet tank in its entirety, complete with a sinister Freddy Kruger mask and gloves that look dangerously sharp.

Obviously, this would be great to scare the little girls (both figuratively and literally) in your house, but it’s probably not a very good prank to pull if you want to live a long and fruitful life.
