Kid’s “Empire Strikes Back” Costume Wins Halloween

Halloween is a holiday that any adults and children of all ages can get behind. I love to see the custom costumes that people whip up each year, and the coolest kid’s costume I’ve ever seen is right here.

Motorcycle leather artist Clinton Case created this epic cosplay for his son, earning him a nomination for Dad of the Year. It’s a little replica of Luke riding on the back of his tauntaun on Hoth. It has fake legs dangling on top, and the kid’s legs are actually the legs of the tauntaun .

It may be the most awesome costume in the history of Halloween. I have no idea how the guy cooked this up, but it is perfect. All we really know is that it took four months, 100 glue sticks, two yards of fur, and a goat mask to make.

Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian Gets Own Comic This Summer

Empire Strikes Back Sunshade Cools Your Car with the Cooling Power of Hoth

They say the way you think has a lot to do with how well you adapt to your environment. If you think it’s hotter than balls, you will feel like it is hotter than balls. If you live in Texas and are getting into a car that has been closed up all day in the summer sun, you know what hotter than balls actually feels like and no amount of wishful thinking will change that.

Summer will be here before you know it and you need to gear up and one way to do it is with this Empire Strikes Back sunshade.

This is one of those things that is reflective and you put it in the windshield to reflect heat away from your ride. If you remember to use it, it will help keep your car much cooler. To help with the wishful thinking part, this sunshade has a nice Hoth ice battle on it. It looks cool, both figuratively and literally.

Tauntaun the Snowman

If it’s snowy outside where you are, you probably feel like you are on Hoth already. You might as well have a Tauntaun to ride. Redditor Xnipek posted this photo of their friend sitting on the back of an awesome snowman that he built. It is made to look just like a tauntaun from The Empire Strikes Back.

Of course the insides of this Tauntaun aren’t going to keep anyone warm, so don’t go slicing it open to stash your friend inside. Otherwise when Echo base finds you, you will both be frozen solid.

These guys know how to have fun in the snow. They also have very cold and wet butts from sitting on this thing.

Steampunk LEGO AT-AT: The Empire Steams Back

So, here’s the deal. In the MOC Madness competition, all the Star Wars things are going steampunk. The Steam Wars competition is broken into five rounds, which started this past July. The first challenge was to take a starfighter and re-imagine it as a minifig scale steampunk fighter. Then it was time to build speederbikes, landspeeders and airspeeders.

Now that round three is here, it is time to build a steampunk AT-AT.

And this one is a masterpiece. You are looking at markus19840420′s submission. It’s hard to believe that he only had seven days to build it.

Just look at all of that amazing detail. LEGO really needs to think outside the box and start offering kits like this.

The Battle of Hoth Gets Sweded

The battle of Hoth. A song of ice and fire…power. An epic battle full of snowspeeders and AT-ATs. Now, Cinefix has brought back the awesomeness with a homemade remake of a scene from the battle in The Empire Strikes Back.

battle of hothmagnify

It was directed by Dustin McLean of DustFilms on a budget of virtually nothing. 1980′s George Lucas would be proud. Personally, I prefer this version to the remastered version and would love to see Dustin remake the entire film this way. I especially love what they have done with the soundtrack.

Check out the video, then a video of this version and the original side by side to see what a great job they did. There is also a behind the scenes video to show how they did it.

This adorable crocheted Tauntaun will be a great addition to your other plush Star Wars toys. He will look great on your shelf, your couch, in your bed or wherever. He isn’t big enough to cut open if you are facing bitter cold temps though. Which is good, considering the smell.
