Intel Flies 500 Drones at Same Time for World Record

Intel is talking up a new drone made just for light shows called the Shooting Star. The drone will be available commercially and might usher in a new era of drone light shows around the world. To get the drone ready for launch, Intel put together a light show in Germany to grab a Guinness World Record.

The record was for having the most drones in the air at once at 500 drones at one time. The last time we checked in,  Intel had only 100 drones in the air at the same time. The Shooting Star drones can create millions of colors as they dance through the air, and are controlled using special software which adjusts the positions of the drones in the fleet.

Intel says that it has worked with the FAA to get a waiver to allow the drone fleet to fly at night in the US with a single pilot, along with a backup pilot just in case.

There is no word just yet on how much the drone will cost, but I’m sure an army of them will be expensive. Check out the video to see the drone fleet in action.

World’s Fastest Electric Skateboard Goes Nearly 60 mph

Crazy man Mischo Erban recently grabbed a new Guinness World Record. He is now the fastest man ever recorded an electric skateboard. The record setting pace that Erban reached is 59.55 mph.

The record setting run happened at Portoroz airport in Piran, Slovenia on flat ground. The board used was a modified NEXTBoard created by Next Generation Vehicles controlled by a handheld remote. Each of the wheels on the board has its own internal motor and power comes from a pair of Tattu 6S batteries in series. The board needs 1.5 hours to charge and can go up to 9 miles on a charge at normal speed.

I’m not surprised he fell off the board at least once while trying to set the record; I can’t even stand still on a skateboard.

You can expect that this record will fall before long since this was the first time the record was attempted, and they will surely continue to tweak the board to improve its speed.

Guy Sets World Record for Solving a 7×7 Rubik’s Cube

Some people are so good at things that they make you feel downright stupid. If you have zero talent solving the various Rubik’s Cubes, then Melbourne, Australia Rubik’s Cube champion Feliks Zemdegs will make you feel pretty useless.

This guy has set the world record for solving a 7×7 Rubik’s Cube, finishing it in a most impressive 2:23.55. That’s under 3 minutes, not under 3 hours, which is closer to what you or I could accomplish – on a good day. The kid is a real champion. He’s probably solving complex math problems in his head at the same time.

Whatever. I can solve it too. I just have to take it apart and put it back together again. So who’s smarter?

This Guy Has the Biggest Doctor Who Collection Ever

You have to be a super fan to amass the largest Doctor Who collection in the world. 2014 record holder Ian O’Brien is that kind of fan. Just look at how many Daleks he has on his shelf alone. Seeing that many Daleks would make the Doctor wet himself.

In fact, O’Brien got his first toy Dalek in 1974 and his collection just expanded from there, to include over 1,573 pieces of Doctor Who collectibles, media and memorabilia. He is basically an honorary Time Lord. And to hold that many collectibles, his house must be bigger on the inside right?

Don’t stop now, Ian. There are more cool Doctor Who toys being released all the time.

Danish Guy Sets World Record for Longest Usable Golf Club

Golf is all about improving your game each time. It’s not a fast and wild sport and it isn’t about who has the biggest club. Or is it?

Apparently, it is now. Danish golfer Karsten Maas has set a new Guinness World Record for the “Longest Usable Golf Club.” It measures an impressive 14′ 5″ and it can hit a ball over 540 feet. In this video you can see Maas demonstrating his technique:

It’s so long that while in the golf cart, the guy has to carry it like a jousting weapon. Good thing nobody else has one of these, otherwise golfers might start jousting and getting out of hand.

Guy Sets the World Record For Most Consecutive Pinky Pull-Ups

Man, I watch this video and I can’t manage to convince myself that it is real. This guy is amazing. Even doing one pinky pull-up would be amazing. My pinkies are weak. About the only exercise they get is when they are extended when I’m drinking tea.

Maibam Itomba Meitei of India is now in the Guinness Book of World Records after performing 16 consecutive pull-ups using his pinkies on March 15th, 2014. In under 30 seconds too. This guy trained for 14 years to accomplish this. That is some serious dedication.

This guy could probably kill with his pinky if he wanted to. This is just crazy.

Guy Cracks 150 Walnuts with His Head, Sets New World Record for Headaches

His friends now call him Paulie Walnuts, not because of The Sopranos, but, well you see why. The Guinness World Records series Spotlight posted the official video of Muhammed Rashid of Pakistan as he breaks the world record for “Most Walnuts Cracked Against the Head in One Minute”. We are talking 150 walnuts.

This crazy and amazing feat occurred back in February 2014 at the Punjab Youth Festival. Interestingly, more than 30 Guinness world records have been broken in the last three years there. Must be something in the water.

Rashid’s record crushed the old one which was just 44 walnuts. That guy just wasn’t as nuts as this one. It hurts my head just watching it.

Guy Hits Target from 1,000 Yards… with a Revolver

This guy is the king of using a revolver as a sniper rifle. In the video below, shooter Jerry Miculek uses his revolver to pop a balloon with a special edition 9mm Smith & Wesson revolver from an impressive 1,000 yards away.

According to Jerry, he has to aim about 150 feet above the target due to the drop of the bullet during its 4-second travel. Apparently this is a world record. To get an idea of how far away it actually is, watch him drive downrange to the target.

All I know is that this is one guy you just can’t get away from. You could be in the next town and he would probably hit you. Especially if you were holding a balloon.

World Record Set with Micro Domino Maze

I have never even heard of micro dominoes before. I guess they are just like regular dominoes, but tiny. Like 80x smaller and 100x lighter in fact. They look like tiny sticks of gum. Who knew? These things are so small, they have to be set up using tweezers. And it will tick you off 80x more than standard dominoes, when they all fall before you are ready.

What we have here is the world record for the longest micro domino maze, set up by Germany’s Sinners Domino Entertainment. Watch them carefully place them, and then knock them all down. This is like the flea Olympics for domino nerds.

I wonder how many tries it took to set this one up. There’s no way they did that the first time. Good job domi-nerds. You rule.
