This elaborate machine automatically prepares and builds burgers!

Well, the future is finally here… Not just because Uber is giving us the promise of flying cars, but because San Francisco based firm Creator is finally giving us the completely automated burger making machine, a contraption that puts together a juicy, delicious burger together from start to end in a precisely self-replicating, consistent way that would put McDonald’s to shame.

8 years in the making, the machine comes with individual tubes and receptacles that hold everything from buns to pickles to veggies to even condiments. An individual patty-cooking area freshly seasons and prepares the meat patty to perfection (even with cheese on top) before assembling the burger bit by bit via a conveyor (even slicing the veggies on the spot for unbeatable freshness) and finally encapsulating magic between two buns before sending the perfectly juicy, freshly prepared cheeseburger into the packaging unit that stores your delicious meal in a nice paper container that can then be conveniently carried to you and served up with some fries and soda.

Assembly Line Machines are usually reserved for labor-intensive tasks that require precision and repetition… so if a machine can assemble a car better and faster than a man can, would that logic apply to the consistent preparation and assembly of a burger too? I really don’t know, but I urge our readers in San Francisco to give the world’s first automated burger a taste!

Japan Loves Hamburger Straws

Oh the Japanese, they love weird foodstuffs. The latest weird thing McDonald’s fans are up to in Japan is something called the Hamburger Straw. For some reason people buy those cheap McD’s burgers and them cram a straw through them.

It’s comforting to know that even in Japan, the burgers McDonald’s sells are kind of smooshed and gross looking. This reminds me more than a little of that episode of Spongebob Squarepants where he makes a toy from a Krabby Patty and straws, leading to a fight with Patrick.

This is a weird meme. I don’t get the draw. Seems like your drink straw would get filled with burger and that sounds really gross. Especially the people who stabbed the Big Mac. I don’t want special sauce in my straw.

Burger-Flipping Robot: Bot’s Burgers

This specialty robot from from Miso Robotics is ready to put fast food workers out business and it does not care. It’s called “Flippy,” and it’s basically a smaller and more dexterous version of a typical robotic arm.

It’s designed to be fast, precise, and smart. It flips burgers and then puts them on buns when ready. Flippy has cameras that can see the location of each patty and bun, and sensors can check when a patty is cooked and when it needs to be flipped over. It can even get out of the way of any human who still has to place the patties on the grill. This is artificial intelligence at work to cook our burgers to perfection.

For the moment, humans still need to help by putting meat on the grill, but one day robots will do it all themselves. Flippy’s first gig is at a California chain called CaliBurger, who plans to have Flippies in 50 or more of their restaurants over the next 2 years. Miso Robotics doesn’t just want burger-flipping bots either. They’ve got their sights set on fry cooking, plating, and other kitchen tasks as well.
