This foldable electric bicycle fits in your car’s boot with enough space for extra storage!

This electric bicycle with a modern design and the lightweight form factor is set to change the urban commuting scenario where compactness and stylish aesthetics are the primal choices for generation Z.

There’s something deep down I love about shape-shifting functionality, be it on any vehicle, furniture, or everything in between. The ability to fold down the size almost half of the original brings so many possibilities to the fore – easy portability and space-saving being on top of the list. When I saw this folding e-bike it was a nirvana moment, simply because of the armadillo-like folding characteristic that’s no gimmick beyond the pictures into the real-life scenarios. Robin Feng of PXID Design, the inventive mind behind this cool bicycle design deserves accolades for his intuitive thinking to make it so small its barely even noticeable in the boot of your car.

Dubbed the PXID – A1, this compact electric bicycle folds to the size of a small suitcase for easy transportation in the boot or even be carried to the office floor, that’s if the boss permits. The folding bicycle rides on 14-inch tires and the rear tires get power from the onboard electric battery for assistive riding on ascends. The seat is height adjustable and the revamped design as compared to the earlier S1 model adapts an angular frame design. This gives the A1 a far better foldable aesthetic that’s practical in use. In fact, it is so compact in the foldable position, you can even store more luggage in the boot of your car with the A1 foldable electric bicycle sitting on one corner!

The monochrome digital display on the left-hand side keeps the rider informed of the reaming battery levels, average range, current speed and the current gear being employed. The 36V battery of the e-bike is stored on the front of the frame which all goes well for the power to weight ratio balance. The design of the bicycle is tailored for urban commutes and styling too has that upbeat element to it. I cannot wait to see the PXID – A1 out on the streets, can you?

Sleek DAB Concept-E bike redefines urban mobility with Supermoto styling + lightweight aesthetics

An all-electric lightweight motorcycle crafted for the near future, perfectly tailored for the city rides, commute to work and everything in between. The focus here is on the pleasure of driving and a style statement that goes very well with the younger lot!

It goes without saying, electric mobility is the future and established brands, as well as budding automotive startups, are chasing the dream of creating commercially viable electric vehicles that are not short on power delivery. In the electric race is the DAB Concept-E electric motorcycle that creates a niche for itself owing to the off-beat design. This e-bike is created with assistance from Outercraft design studio headed by Pierrick Pichaureaux, who’ve managed to strike the right balance between design parity to display what’s important. The oblique lines create a flying back form while the horizontal lines bring in a sense of simplicity.

This is DAB Motors’ first electric bike to arrive on the electrified horizon, and instantly it impresses with the sleek silhouette balanced out with the Supermoto styling. The bodywork is done mostly in carbon fiber keeping the bike lightweight while the saddle is crafted with durable Ripstop material that’s usually used for making yacht sails. To keep all the wiring away from the naked eye, Outercraft has strategically designed the bike’s frame and swingarm in a way to house all the wires. Keeping up with the modern aesthetics, there’s an LED speedometer console on the front and a slim array of translucent LED headlights underneath a flat-track-inspired board.

Coming on to the more technical specifications, DAB Concept-E gets a 10 kW electric motor and a 51.8 V lithium-ion battery pack. The makers claim, the e-bike to reach a top speed of 105 kmph and a range of 110 km. Since the ride is tailored for urban spaces in the future, it gets the Gates belt drive having aluminum machined pulleys. We have to keep in mind, the motorcycle is still in the concept stage and how much of the design or mechanical components will make it through to the production model, still remains to be seen.

This ebike with a concealed laptop stand is the personal mobile workstation you need!

Christened the BUCK bike, this is a lightweight ebike meant for office workers who don’t mind the odd trek to the mountains on the weekends. Essentially it combines the goodness of a small wheel city bicycle and mountain bike for multiple utilities. But this is not where the BUCK’s niche lies.

The way we commute has changed with more focus on creating the least footprint on the environment owing to the climate crisis we are currently going through. The mindful conscious to avert four-wheelers powered by fuel has seen a splurge in the adaption of bicycles as a means of commute. More and more professionals are using bicycles as means of personal transport. More so for the fact that bicycles are good for overall fitness and well-being.

Now that the focus is very much on creating bicycles for professional users who don’t want a quick pit stop at the coffee shop or by the sidewalks for finishing up an urgent task on their laptop, a designer wants to take it to the next level. The idea is to create a bicycle that gives the user freedom to work anywhere, anytime. A mobile workstation on wheels brings the freedom of working at your will without the need to search for a place to keep the laptop or your journal and get on with the current task.

The BUCK electric bike has a laptop stand that elegantly conceals beneath the bike frame when not in use. The moment you need to perform an important task – just park the bike, swivel the laptop stand in position and your mobile standing workstation is ready. You just have to slide it out of the bike frame’s section and attach it to the saddle which can be moved to a 90 degrees position to give up space for the stand.

On the design front, the bicycle has a very neat minimalist look draped in white color with contrasting black sections. Since the bike is meant for the odd leisure too on rough roads, the active suspension and the high riding position are well suited for the same. This electric bicycle is something I would actually want to use for my commute as it is not just restricted to the urban commute but caters to the mountain biking needs as well.

This sleek, portable e-bike made from a single piece of aluminum has a unique three-fold mechanism

Electric bikes have never been as popular before. Of late, they are immensely in demand giving designers the freewill to perceive their idea of folding electric bicycles we would be riding in the future. Case in point the ONEBOT-S7 an electric resistance bicycle that’s polished in enthusiasm, charm and substance.

There is something really satisfying about riding past the queued-up cars in your two-wheeled EV and being able to fold it up and carry it to park under your desk when you reach your workplace. The folding e-bikes are generally small and nibble offering you the charm of portability without sacrificing the fun and convenience of commuting. The ONEBOT-S7 by designer Kinson Chan poses a series entry in this domain with its frame constructed using the die casting process. This allows the whole bicycle to be formed from a single piece of magnesium and aluminum alloy. The unibody construction renders the e-bike light and durable while offering a productivity bump up of nearly 500 percent, the designer remarks.

E-bikes are a household name now, they are a common mode of transportation in many cities – with safety norms – for cyclists. Add to that the convenience of being able to fold the bike instantly, and it becomes a versatile option to get from point A to B efficiently, effectively, and quickly. To ensure this portability and convenience, the ONEBOT-S7 uses a unique three-fold structure – as opposed to the two-step folding design that we all are familiar with – which makes the e-bike ultra-compact when folded so it can fit in the boot of the car or slide under your workstation (however and wherever you please to use it). Compressed into the smallest single unit possible, this e-bike when folded measure only 60cm in height and length and just 35cm in width.

ONEBOT-S7 is fitted with a removable battery pack in the frame, tucked neatly under the seat post. It sits there unobstructed and blends with the uniform frame design and colorway eliminating any distraction from the chrome-like finish of the e-bike. The powerful battery doesn’t have specifics to share, but from the images, the ONEBOT-S7 can be put to old-fashioned pedaling if the battery dies on you or your sporty enthusiasm calls.

And when you’re putting in some effort to pedal or cruising past the traffic on an electric powertrain, you’ll have all the relevant information about battery level, speed or pedal assist resistance flashing on the digital display on board the handlebar. From how I see it, the ONEBOT-S7 acquires most of the features of the e-bikes on the market and packages it elegantly into a niche frame and tri-folding form factor that we may take to as soon as it’s available!

This stable cargo ebike with robust frame and ample boot space amplifies your outdoor experience!

For adventure lovers who want to keep their environmental impact to the minimum, a pedal-power-assisted cargo e-bike is the right choice for camping trips. Likewise, this cargo electric bicycle crafted keeping in mind a large set of considerations could be the future of zero-emission hauling of essentials in the treacherous mountains.

The problem with most cargo bikes is their overall balance distribution and lack of space. Even if they have presumed optimum space for hauling important stuff, the shape and function take a hit. On paper, things look all rosy for such iterations, but the design of the front wheel makes it highly unstable on mountainous terrain. This kills the whole purpose of bicycle camping – and the intelligent adventure seeker never even looks that way.

X Space cargo bike concept however is different from the contemporary designs. The zero-emission concept electric camping bike is optimized for riding balance, space and zero pollution for the year 2030 – and it makes perfect sense. X Space comes with a mindfully crafted front wheel design and tactically placed storage spaces for smooth riding in the mountain terrain. The off-beat cargo bike is the result of the demand for eco-conscious commuting with the liberty to carry along essentials. Something that adventurers will highly appreciate.

The electric cargo bike has those off-road style lines with triangle-inspired geometry. The seating frame is supported by the bottom section for structural integrity which all goes well for durability. The ride height and wheelbase ensure the bike is stable even at difficult riding angles, in part attributed to the suspension system in place. The rear section underneath the seat houses a removable cooler to store beverages and fruits for a camping escapade. The front has a large cargo box utilizing the space between the two wheels to store non-perishable items or camping essentials. Thereby, saving you from hauling them in a backpack.

A removable battery for pedal-powered assistance can be easily plugged out once it runs out of juice. X Space electric cargo bike looks quite stable because of its low- center of gravity courtesy of the angled frame design. How much pedal-powered assistance it can churn out is going to be crucial in determining the terrains it can tread.

BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 is a skateboard-inspired stylized urban e-bike for Generation Z!

I have a hard time breaking it to the average millennial, but your time is over. The BMW Motorrad Concept CE 02 bike is aimed at the Generation Z crowd and this design encapsulates that futuristic feel in an instant!

With the backing of some exceptional concepts in the past, the German manufacturer is now turning its attention towards stylish electric vehicles, and this one is the perfect beginning. BMW Motorrad has announced the mini-bike ahead of its debut at IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich next week!

Being more than just a mere cool toy, this electric two-wheeler is a futuristic yet simple solution for urban mobility, focusing on city tours to be precise. According to the head of vehicle design, BMW Motorrad, the bike is a skateboard on wheels, developed for anyone who likes to be mobile and independent. The Concept CE 02 has a very minimalist footprint and a low center of gravity – in line with the company’s aspiration to bring a level of design innovation honed by the emotional element, and most of all, the riding fun.

The CE 02 ebike comes with an 11kW belt-driven motor that hurls the two-wheeler to a maximum speed of 56 miles per hour and a range of 90 kilometers on a single charge. According to BMW Group, the bike weighs 265 pounds in total which is lightweight and maneuverable for city riding fun.  The seat on this one is designed to give the rider the freedom to drive it in an upright or leaning forward position. In between the free space between the seat and the frame is space to keep small things secured by elastic bands. Also, the bracket under the batteries stores a skateboard and doubles as a footrest.

To display all the vital telemetry like speed or remaining battery life, the bike has a colored screen on the handlebars. To keep the minimalist theme, BMW Group chooses small black colored headlights having four LED lighting elements for enough illumination during the nighttime.

Among all this, we have to remember, this is still a concept electric bike and when it will actually be commercialized into production is not known yet. If it does, will it look like what we are seeing is also uncertain. Nonetheless, the BMW CE 02 is an urban commuter worth every rider’s time.

Boomerang-shaped electric scooter is designed to be an effective urban e-bike for hire service!

Electric bike concepts come in all shapes and sizes – and we have seen some unique ones in the past – Iron Man worthy bike, a very alien-worthy ride, or the geometric urban rider. However, this electric scooter in retro-futurism style by creative designer Alexander Yamaev and his team is somewhat different from the crowd – it takes inspiration from the basic V shape we see in a boomerang.

The electric scooter concept thought of by Alexander pushes the envelope of being a rebel while still being assumingly practical. The L-shaped uni-frame design of the bike has an upfront geometric structure meant for a solo rider. The bike has a very upright driving position and a slim frame, indicating its urban commuting characteristics. One glance at those unified front and rear wheels in the frame, and it looks like anything but a bike! That said, it does have a cut in the body, creating a rectangular element that helps the front wheel navigate. The front of the body also has three headlights and two brake lights that stand out like antennas! The headlights can be flipped into the housing when not required, further exemplifying the scooter’s unibody design aesthetics.

The kickstand comes with the ability to mount the phone for navigation aids, whereas, the battery resides in the downward slope of the body, below the seat. Objectively, the bike holds no space for anything more than its rider, and for sure, it’s not designed to carry any luggage with you. However, I can see this bike being used for hourly rentals, quickly zipping people across the city and easily stored when not in use, especially because of its tiny frame!

This modular ebike flaunts swappable battery packs & optional hub motor wheels to go from work to outdoors!

Ebike designs may leave us wanting more simply because of their well-thought-of design and practical functionality. The Pelikan is one of the exceptions with its pure design ingenuity and modular function – letting it change the character depending on the rider’s needs. Designed by industrial designer Fabian Breës, this ebike takes pride in its components like the battery and the hub motor. Rather than hiding their electric-assisted character behind the body frame design, Fabian believes in exposing them. That is the core sentiment of the project, as he wanted to use the “battery and the motor as visual centerpieces for the bike.” This approach brings a very muscular, dynamic flow to the two-wheeler. The result? A sculpted body somewhere between a motorcycle and a bicycle. In fact, you can call it the iPod of ebikes – just like Fabian believes too.

Named Pelikan, the design name takes inspiration from the expanding characteristics of the bird’s beak – apparent in the expanding modular bodywork of this ebike. It took Fabian almost four iterations of the basic design blueprint before settling for this mindful concept design. The bike’s frame bears a very triangular aesthetic with a front-loaded battery pack situated along the downtube. Power to the wheels is delivered via a dual-drive wheel system. The ingenuity comes in the form of a swappable standard rear wheel with Pedelec Motor having a top speed of 25km/h. You can choose the powerful version having a heavier Speedelec Motor with a top speed of 60km/h powered by its own integrated internal battery pack.

Understandably, the Pelikan ebike lets users choose from two battery options for urban commuting or long-distance travel. A smaller elegant battery pack of city commutes or the larger rugged battery for speed enthusiasts on freeways. Fabian even plans to design an off-roading capable version of the Pelikan with a swappable rear triangle for mounting a mountain bike suspension and aggressive wheels. The ebike comes in three color options Jet Black, Serious Cyan, and Beautiful Beige to appeal to urban riders. Genuinely, this is one of the best concept ebike designs I’ve seen lately, as its practical modular functions open up many opportunities to take your life’s adventures to the open roads!

This ebike for future metropolis is designed with a frame inspired by the human bone structure!

Industrial designer Gary Liao from Taipei, Taiwan sees bikes not just as a means to get from one place to the other, but as a true work of art. He is also intrigued by the intricacies of the human anatomy – the skeletal structure in particular which justifies this automotive concept. Called the Skeleton, it is a cool-looking, medium-sized electric bike for urban commuting needs. The idea is to have an upright driving position like a Dutch styled-bike for short commutes in the city. Obviously, the size of the electrically assisted bike and how easy it is to maneuver in tight spaces also matters – hence, the Skeleton bike is designed to mimic the human bone structure. The hollow bone pillar is lightweight yet equals the strength of a solid pillar made from concrete and steel. Hence, this electric-assisted bike also adopts that quality.

Depending on the needs of the user, the bike can switch between different speed-assist modes via the mid-mounted motor that delivers power to the back wheel. The battery fits inside the rear of the bike frame like a diskette and can be removed for charging during the nighttime. The bike has a lighter belt drive system instead of a chain drive system to eliminate any unnecessary hassles. For optimum acceleration, easy turning, and stop-and-go power, uses a carbon fiber 20-inch wheel. Skeleton connects wirelessly to your mobile devices to get all the necessary information about the battery condition and displays other vital telemetry.

The design of the frame is such that you can put a file, briefcase, or any flat solid object without disrupting the center of gravity or your pedaling motion. There’s a slot to put bottles or coffee cups too which indicates the bike’s target audience – the corporate crowd who are always on the move with their cup of Joe. This concept bike is not just any other run-off-the-mill blueprint for the future of mobility, it delves deep into the very connection with the man-machine ideology. Of course, it has the cool looks to impress too. Bike manufacturers need to look at this design closer because it could see the light of day in the coming years!
