Three Wise Stormtroopers ‘See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil’ Figurine Set

Being able to buy a Star Wars-themed version of everything: it’s one of our inalienable rights as human beings. And to prove that is this Three Wise Stormtroopers figurine set made by Nemesis Now and available on Amazon (affiliate link). The three stormtroopers embody the traditional Japanese proverb “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil,” and look quite sharp doing it if I say so myself. That armor looks clean enough to eat off of.

The officially-licensed stormtroopers stand approximately 7″ tall and are cast from resin and individually hand-painted. It’s probably wise they went with individual hand painting instead of trying to paint all the figures at once. I imagine that would take a level of ambidextrousness previously unheard of.

These are going to make a great on my bookcase, which, incidentally, is entirely filled with Star Wars collectibles and no books, making it more of a Star Warscase. So, which one of the figures is your favorite? Mine is the ‘see no evil’ trooper because it reminds me of how most stormtroopers must aim.

Horror Movie Vinyl Figures That Look Knitted: Killer Crafts

Created by vinyl figure producer Handmade By Robots, this series of collectible vinyl figures features horror movie villains in the style of knitted dolls. They’re not knitted though, they’re plastic, and I’m not sure I’d want any of them staring at me from a bedroom shelf at night, no matter how cute they are.

Available in Ghost Face, Pennywise, Hannibal Lecter, and Leatherface varieties, the $14 toys sit approximately 5″ tall and are just the thing to add a little horror to your everyday life. Me? My everyday life is already filled with enough horror. Just getting out of bed in the morning is enough to make me scream. Especially if the floor is cold, and the floor is always cold.

My grandma knit me a doll for a birthday when I was a child, and, if I’m being completely honest, it looks even scarier than any of these do, and it was supposed to be a friendly bear. It looks more like a zombie bear now. Time has not been kind to Honey. None of my dogs have been either.

This Fan-made TMNT Donatello Figurine is Insanely Good

A concept artist going by the moniker Embertwist recently shared their latest creation on Reddit. It’s a sixth-scale figurine of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s gadget expert, Donatello, but with a couple of slick twists. First off are the immediately noticeable purple Air Jordan 1 sneakers, but Don is also rocking a backpack that’s partly made from an NES.

Embertwist designed the 3D model themselves, then 3D printed the model to make a master mold. The final figurine was then cast from resin and handpainted. Aside from the radical accessories, the coloring and textures are just top-notch. It’s amazing how much one person can do these days.

This is actually the second TMNT figurine that Embertwist designed and created. He made a Leonardo figurine last year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the TMNT movie. Here’s an awesome video synopsis of Embertwists’s process, which they said was the same for both figurines:

If you’re a hardcore TMNT fan, this is the best bit: Embertwist is going to offer a small batch of the Donatello figurine for sale. Keep an eye on their Instagram account for updates and more pictures.

Power Rangers Dino Charge – Dino Charge Megazord

While all incarnations of the Power Rangers are special in their own right, we always had some special feelings for the Dino Charge Rangers, our favorite team in recent history, for featuring the Dino Charge Megazord, the coolest mecha they have had so far. The mecha can be disassembled into three separate robots featuring three robots. Still, the point is that all three can combine with other figurines from the series into bigger and bigger mechas.

Awesome: We Are Handmade Little Groot Figurines

Groot Handmade Figurines

There’s no doubt about it: Groot made quite the impression as one of the leads in Guardians of the Galaxy, and he isn’t even human! He doesn’t say much, so he lets his actions do the talking instead–and if you saw the hit movie, then you’ll get what I mean. It was only a matter of time before little dancing Groots made their way to store shelves, both real and digital, and these particular figurines by by Kelsey Wailes are nothing short of awesome.

Her first batch features little Groot in 13 different poses, each one showcasing a particular dance pose and facial expression.

All of the Groot figurines are handmade, with each one taking a few hours to make. They’re not available yet, although Kelsey will be putting them up on her Etsy page soon.

Collectible Tyrion Lannister Figurine

Tyrion Lannister figurineApparently HBO’s Game of Thrones has reached a new level of geek-dom from adoring fans; enough so that people are selling and purchasing collectibles from the hit TV show.

If you’re a fan and would like to join in, this Tyrion Lannister figurine is a good place to start. It stands about 8.5 inches tall and actually comes with two pairs of exchangeable hands, a goblet, and a book. (We would have though Jaimie would be the one with an exchangeable hand.) The facial features are as realistic as they can get. It is just proof that the guys at Threezero are really good at what they do.

This figurine is available for pre-order starting on May 26th at 9AM Hong Kong Time (6PM PST on May 25th, to save you a little time zone conversioning).

Star Wars Vader and Son and Vader’s Little Princess Figurines

vader and son statue Star Wars Vader and Son and Vaders Little Princess Figurines
One of the coolest books we’ve ever covered here on the big gadget blog is Vader and Son, chronicling Darth Vader’s adventures in fatherhood. Now the author of the book has licensed a maquette (small statue) featuring a scene from the book. This one shows little Luke Skywalker giving his Dad an (in)appropriate gift of a tie. Just what a Sith Lord needs- no need to do a Force choke when you could just pull the tie super tight. There’s also a statuette from his other book- Vader’s Little Princess.

Ahh look at little Princess Leia- she’s cut hearts into Darth’s cape. Each 10″ tall figurine is made of cold-cast polystone and is available in a limited edition of just 1500. Each also comes with a special edition of the matching book featuring unreleased concept sketches from the author Jeffrey Brown. Really cool little collectable for the Star Wars Dad out there.

Japanese Cup Edge Sitting Figurines

edge sitter Japanese Cup Edge Sitting Figurines
Here’s another unusual item from Japan that we don’t really know what to make of. This Koppu no Fuchiko (which translates appropriately enough to “Fuchiko on the edge of the cup”) is a little office worker who sits on the edge of a glass. It comes as a set of 7 in all different acrobatic positions perched on the rim of a cup. Plus there’s the “holding a lemon wedge” one for additional WTFs.

Are you supposed to remove the figurine before drinking? Let her drop into your glass? Why does this product exist? And why is it $90 per set? And what’s the deal with the lemon wedge? We’re totally baffled.

Sandboxr lets us easily make custom-posed, 3D-printed figurines (video)

Sandboxr lets us easily make customposed, 3Dprinted action figures video

Where was Sandboxr when we were kids? Instead of dragging our parents around on a hunt for the perfect figurine, we could have used the company's new web app to easily manipulate a virtual model and get a 3D printed statuette in the exact pose we wanted. There's compensation for the lost opportunities of our childhood, however. The creation tool allows for customized accessories, scenes and sizing, and it's expected to have reasonable prices of about $12 for a 2.5-inch character and over $20 for a 3.5-inch version. The best news may simply be the likelihood of a figurine existing in the first place -- Sandboxr sees itself as a platform for everyone from 3D animators through to game developers and dedicated toy companies, many of which can use existing 3D models to start a collectible line. The printing service is currently invitation-only and plans a Kickstarter fundraising drive to scale larger, but it's easy to see an end to the days of limited edition figurines -- much to the delight of our inner child.
