Broken Flower Pots Turned Into Whimsical Fairy Gardens

Broken Flower Pots Turned Into Whimsical Fairy Gardens

Krista Rogers of RocketNews24 put together this collection of photos showing off fairy gardens made from broken flower pots. As you can see, they’re all adorable as hell. That is, if hell was adorable. It’s not. Trust me. I’ve been there and back more times than I can count. I’ve got the charred butt to […]

Not Your Mama’s Flowerpot

The Water Recycling Flowerpot makes the rest seem BASIC! Using a unique double-hallow structure, it’s able to recycle the leftover water that remains in the pot after watering. Water is stored inside the inner wall, preventing overwatering yet ensuring hydration. The water inside evaporates and condenses into droplets that fall back to the soil, creating the process of recycled irrigation. Made of crystal-clear glass, it’s fun and easy to see exactly what’s going on inside!

Guerilla Gardening

For those who don’t know it, Guerilla Gardening is a livewire concept that sees folks planting and sowing seeds in abandoned plots or unlicensed places. The idea stems from the cottonseed story of Moon Ik Jeom, the first Korean Guerilla Gardener. The tool showcased here is a handy one that is discreet enough for such operations.

This Farmer Has Created A Monster!: Frankenstein Pumpkins

This Farmer Has Created A Monster!: Frankenstein Pumpkins

Tony Dighera of Cinagro Farms in California brings us these Frankenstein Pumpkins. They’re made by growing the pumpkins in a Frankenstein-shaped mold. Well, technically, they’re not Frankenstein-shaped molds — he’s the doctor, after all! These are Frankenstein’s monster-shaped. If they were made in the likeness of actual Frankenstein, they’d be like, I dunno, a spindly […]

LEGO Flower Pots Make Me Wish I Had Green Thumbs

One of the things that I know about myself is that I kill plants. I have known this for years, therefore I don’t own plants, a garden, or try to grow anything other than kids. Kids are resilient and remind me to water them whereas plants sit mute and die a brown death. I wish I had a green thumb.

If I did, I would totally have one of these sweet LEGO flower pots. In fact, I want the Endor planter so bad I can taste it. I also like the Lord of the Rings pot with the Hobbits hiding behind the tree as the evil one rides by on his horse.

The Simpsons one is cool, but I was never a fan of that show so it takes a distant third to the other two for me. These flower pots come from a dude named Jin Kai Soo. Check out more images of his awesome creations on his Flickr page.

Droplet Sprinkler Targets Plants to Save Water: Sniper Medic

Traditional sprinklers simply spread water over an area, which leads to lots of water wasted and uneven watering. Droplet wants to change all that with its eponymous robot. Instead of blindly spraying water around like Bill & Lance with a Spread gun, Droplet knows where your plants are and aims at them like Mr. Mundy in Doublecross.

When you get a Droplet, you’ll go to a web app to specify the type and location of your plants. I don’t know how exactly the web app works, just that you can go through it on a computer or a mobile device and in just a few minutes. In addition to that data, Droplet will also supposedly tap into the United States’ weather station and soil sample data to gauge when and how much water to spray. One Droplet should be able to tend to a 2700sq.ft. area.

Grow a browser and head to Amazon, where you can pre-order Droplet for $300 (USD). That’s a lot of money for a sprinkler, but when you consider its resulting water savings and positive impact on the environment I think it’s worth it.
