PullClean: Pull to Clean Your Hands

PullClean

How often do you wash your hands in a day? Most people are uncertain, but one thing’s for sure: we use our hands a lot. To write, move stuff, open doors, pick something up from the floor, or eat chips– and not necessarily in that order. Who knows, you might be eating grime from the floor with each and every chip that you’re feeding yourself.

Then along came PullClean. It’s a door handle with built-in sanitizer dispensers so you can sanitize your hand each time you pass by or leave the room. Before you write it off as being a mere dispenser, it comes with the Countclean software which takes note of sanitizing rates and the level of sanitizer left in the dispenser.

Interested? You can reserve a PullClean system for $200 here.

Fonhandle Lets You Get a Handle on Your iPhone

Too lazy to hold your arm higher so you can put your phone next to your ear? You could go with a wireless headset or you can get the Fonhandle if you can’t afford one.

Fonhandle 620x465magnify

As the name implies, it’s a handle for your smartphone. Yep, you read that right. Think of it as a larger-than-usual case for your phone that comes with an extension that you can use as a handle. That way, you won’t have to raise your hand as high as your need when you’re making calls, taking photos, or shooting selfies.

Fonhandle1 620x465magnify

Fonhandle is inspired by hafting, the act of attaching artifacts to a handle which turns them into useful objects. Humans have used this method throughout history to turn rock, metal and bone into axes and hammers, then later on – simple lenses into magnifying glasses, and then – rubber nets into fly swatters. Now it is time to do the same with the most useful object of all – the smartphone.

You can even use it as a stand of sorts when you’re at the beach, since you can just stick the whole thing into the sand and use it while you’re chilling on your towel.

The Fonhandle is up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $13(USD) will get you one of your very own.

SmartFridge

FoodPlus is a smart refrigerator with sensors fitted into the door handle. The sensors sync with a Smartphone App and help you know the freshness of your food. The fridge is smart enough to keep an update on what is stocked in it. Read on to know how it works…

Before purchasing food: You can make a list of ingredients using the App, FoodPlus will automatically double check the current stock in fridge and report if you are duplicating any item.

While purchasing: Reconfirms stock in fridge via the FoodPlus APP.
You can view the amount of pesticide residues on the produce and its freshness using the App and a Smartphone equipped with sensors.

After purchasing: When stocking the food in the refrigerator, the refrigerator keeps an account of what you are loading in.

Depending upon its freshness, FoodPlus will automatically remind you to cook stocks that are getting stale.

FoodPlus is one of the Top 100 Finalists at the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab. You can vote for this or any other project over here. Voting closes May 16th 2014.

Double Door Knob Use

TIBOU is the first collection of luxury hardware developed just for kid!. The primary function of handles and knobs is to open a door or drawer, but kids often double them as a hanger to place their jacket or a bag. The object loses its main function and it becomes difficult even impossible to open the door. To account for this duality, all the elements of the TIBOU collection present a small hook on their front face, giving the child a perfect place to hang their belongings without hampering the opening of the door or drawer.

This Hammer Will Hurt ‘Em

The Hammer in Hand concept integrates a clever window-shattering hammer, which can be used in case of an emergency situation in a train or a bus. Coming from a state where such accidents occur on a regular basis, it will be reassuring to know that safety implements like this are easily deployable by commuters. With a few tweaks here and there, I’m sure we can build this idea into something bigger and efficient.

Rail Reach Gives Stand up Commuters a Hand

For a lot of people, commuting can be quite exhausting, especially if all the seats are taken. There’s nothing wrong with standing up, because there’s the rail for passengers to grab on to for added support… unless the rail itself is covered in slimy stuff (ew), is out of reach or just too high for comfort.

The solution? Rail Reach.

Rail Reach1

The Rail Reach is a folding handle that attaches to the handrail, so you can keep your hands off of the latter, which thousands of hands have already touched and grabbed before you. If you’re on the short side, it also helps by giving you an extension of sorts, so you don’t have to stand on your tiptoes or reach too far to grab the handrail.

Rail Reach

The idea to create the Rail Reach came to Justin Choy after he dealt with his fair share of problems while he was using public transportation.

Rail Reach is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $15(USD) will get you the standard folding version of it.

Love Handles

You really got to appreciate the convenience of the Smart Handle. It compliments the aesthetics of a cooking pot and yet won’t singe or burn your hand when you handle the pot’s lid. You don’t need to be a cook to understand the value of a dish like this, so let’s just be happy that one day in the future we may have a lid like this.

Smart Handle is an elongated handle for cooking pot lids that makes safer and cleaner cooking possible. The elongated handle projects away from the hot lid, making a larger and cooler surface to grab. When the lid is put down, it can be stood up on the handle to save bench space. And the condensed steam on the inside of the lid can drain into a channel within the handle rather than onto the bench.

Smart Handle is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.
