Kitchen Appliances that will transform you from a home cook to a MasterChef!

Before the pandemic took place, cooking was a chore I completely avoided! But now, I honestly find it quite therapeutic! The pandemic, and all the free time that came along with it, somehow awakened my inner chef! I’m sure a lot of other inner chefs were brought to life as well. Especially with the right kitchen tools and appliances, cooking can be a fun and effortless process. The right products can reduce your prep time in half, make the little cooking tasks much easier, and help you with tedious and complicated techniques. This collection of kitchen appliances promise to transform cooking from a Herculean feat to an approachable and enjoyable process! Let your inner chef take over with the help of these innovative and nifty designs!

Turner designed Carnerie – a conceptual device that will let you grow your own meat in the future! Cultured meat is the process of growing meat from cells extracted from animals. Many experts believe that cultured meat offers us the opportunity to produce meat with significantly reduced environmental impacts and without slaughtering animals. The technology is being rapidly developed across the world and is beginning to be introduced to some high-end restaurants but there has been discussion about whether one day we may be able to grow our own meat from animal cells in our own kitchens. Carnerie is a ‘grow your own meat’ device for around twenty years in the future. It is controlled by an app, whereby the user is able to order cell capsules from local farms in order to grow a variety of different types of meat. This conceptual, speculative project is designed to help us visualize what this future scenario could be like and whether it’s a future that we would buy into.

Hatch Duo has designed The Walker Juicer, a masticating juicer without the bulk. Offering a slower, more concentrated grind, masticating juicers do not incorporate too much heat or oxygen into their juicing process. In regard to nutritional value, masticating juicers are largely preferred over centrifugal juicers. However, masticating juicers typically take up more space than centrifugal juicers since their slower grind generally requires a longer spout and auger. The Walker Juicer consolidates the parts of a masticating juicer and places them in its main body to create a more compact build without compromising each juice’s nutritional value.

Clearly meant for people who’d like to live out the game Fruit Ninja in real life, the Ninja Cutting Board & Knife from OTOTO is an adorable little kitchen accessory that makes mise en place fun! The board comes shaped like a little Ninja with a steely glare that means business, and a katana docked into its back. Whip the katana out and chop away your veggies fruits, and other ingredients on the Ninja board before washing, wiping and docking the katana/knife back in. Don’t forget to say “Arigato Sensei” to the Ninja once you’re done!

Designed to replace those wasteful single-use plastic vacuum bags, and that expensive vacuum sealer that comes along with it, SealVax’s bags are reusable, infinitely washable, and come with their own pocket-friendly pump that is powered by your smartphone. The pump, which is no larger than a thumb-drive or a car-charger, locks into the air valves on the SealVax bags and comes with two ports at the opposite end – a Type-C port, and a Lightning connector. Designed to plug into any iPhone or Android smartphone, the vacuum pump runs on your smartphone’s battery, sucking the air out of the SealVax bag in mere seconds. Worried about liquids in your bag? The SealVax even has a liquid isolator, which transfers fluids into a separate chamber (instead of sucking them into the vacuum). Once you’re done, unplug everything and you’ve got yourself air-locked, vacuum-packed freshness!

Everyone holds their knives slightly differently. There’s an incredible amount of nuance in the way everyone’s wrist moves as they operate knives while chopping, slicing, scouring, or peeling, so the guys at Écriture had a pretty brilliant idea – “What if the knives weight-adjusted based on how you used them?” It sounds like a bizarre question, but to be honest, it’s all in the physics of knife-work. When you need your wrists to put in the work, a knife with a heavy handle serves best. When you need a knife’s blade to do the work for you, a heavier blade allows for better cutting, so rather than having different knives for different applications, the Ecriture Perfect Knives come with a switch on the handle that lets you shift the knife’s center of gravity. A sliding weight inside the hollow handle allows you to decide the knife’s balancing point, giving you better control based on your technique. The Ecriture Perfect Knives come in a set of 6 exquisitely designed blades for handling a variety of tasks. From mincing to filleting, julienning to slicing, there’s a blade for every occasion and a patented weight-switching mechanism in each handle for every individual.

Designed so that you can snap your existing spoons and forks to their form, the Anytongs can turn your cutlery and flatware into a pair of instant tongs. The Anytongs were made to be a smaller, more universal alternative to the tongs you use and own. Its compact design lets it easily occupy less than half the space of your pair of tongs, while the ability to slot your own spoons and forks into it means you can use it for anything from grilling and flipping, to serving and stirring. A well-calibrated torsion-spring sits at one end of the Anytongs, giving it a wonderful snappy-springy experience that makes it incredibly easy to use, while rubber pads on its tips allow for comfortable use.

You can easily sanitize your knives and cutting surfaces, embrace your inner quarantine chef with germ-free cooking thanks to Chopbox’s built-in disinfecting UVC light – see I told you, this board is lit and literally! We clean our knives but do we ever think about the germs in knife blocks or the crevices of our cutting boards? With Chopbox all you have to do place your knife in between the two cutting surfaces and activate the small but powerful 254nm UVC light that can sanitize up to 3 knives at once as well as both the cutting surfaces. “Just one minute of UVC light exposure is guaranteed to kill 99.99% of germs and bacteria. The 254nm UVC light used in the ChopBox is small and has a limited angle with only a small gap in the boards when in use. It is 100% safe for all humans to be around and near this light. The UVC light will automatically switch off when you separate the two boards or you can press the second button on the control panel to turn it off. You will receive no negative side effects from this UVC light,” says the team.

Samsung Barr, Berk Can Yıldız’ modular take on Samsung’s kitchen tools, is a single-engine, modular device used for any type of cooking that might require blending, grinding, or heating. The Samsung Barr functions as either a kettle or soup maker with integrated heating elements and also as a blender, grinder, or juicer for use without added heating elements. The product’s large, front-facing button functions as the unit’s control panel. The touchscreen dial’s usability is akin to a round thermostat’s – its circular formation allows users to adjust aspects of cooking, like levels of temperature and the duration of timers, simply by dragging haptic sensors one way or the other around the screen’s perimeter. Compatible with the Samsung Health app from Google Play, Barr also connects to its app that provides new recipes and health information.

The GOAT STORY GINA smart coffee instrument allows you to brew your own coffee in the comfort of your own home, and in three different styles – pour-over, drip, and French Press. The GINA coffee maker can cater to your different coffee moods, you can pick and choose a different coffee method every morning! The coffee maker’s precision valve provides the perfect flow, while its built-in scale makes the preparation process easier and more convenient. The smart instrument comes with its own app. You can utilize the GINA app for more support and help!

This herb garden design takes care of all these minor inconveniences while making sure your plants thrive! The design lets you have access to fresh greenery 365 days a year without sacrificing any counter space or causing a mess. It is compact and works wonderfully for small urban apartments or big suburban houses. What makes this herb garden unique its compactness because it makes it invisible in your kitchen space. Designer Igor Abakumov drew inspiration from his own life experience for this. “My mom is a real culinary virtuoso and she often complains about the lack of specific greens in the store. And then I got the idea to design a home garden that will be built into the kitchen and will delight with greenery all year round,” he explains.

Kitchen appliances that promise to make your morning routine fun, fast, and hassle-free!

Mornings are probably the most hectic part of our daily routine! You have to get up, dress up, make breakfast for yourself (or others if you don’t live in a single-person household), prep your meals for the day, and basically, ensure your day kickstarts on an efficient and smooth note. The most important meal of the day is breakfast, and honestly, it’s the meal I’m the laziest and least enthusiastic to prepare. I’ll just grab a cup of coffee from my fav barista, thank you very much! However, I am making more efforts to ensure I have a healthy and balanced breakfast every morning, and a set of handy kitchen appliances that perfectly meet my breakfast requirements make my mornings much easier! So, here are a collection of nifty kitchen gadgets that are sure to help you start off your morning in the most fun, hassle-free and efficient manner possible.

This conceptual coffee machine is very unlike the espresso makers in the market and it’s the aesthetics that set it apart. It is a dream machine for people who love coffee and space exploration equally (like me!). The compact capsule shape makes it look like a moon lander for your counter and is obviously powered by caffeine which is only the second most powerful fuel after rocket fuel! The designer’s main focus was to retain some of the rawness and the mechanical steampunk look of the traditional Italian espresso makes while maintaining a clean shape that adds character to the product. There is a tubular water/steam container at the back which I feel can be extended down for added support for the appliance. There is also another container for your beans which I assume leads to a small grinder mechanism inside so you only get the freshest cup of joe each time. Overall, the shape is very unique and combines the nostalgic steampunk elements with clean, smooth curves for a balanced modern machine.

Designed by Difei Wang of Hisense Industrial Design Center, the Art Fresh Bar refrigerator is the first in a handsome series that aims to mimic the look of traditional furniture pieces. In fact, it’s not even intended to be placed in your kitchen. Rather, its ultra-thin profile and fine finishes are designed to blend in with your living room, giving you and the rest of the family easy access to all sorts of snacks, beverages, and one-off items like wine and fruit. With an anticipated selection of various finishes and colors as well as customizable compartments, there’s sure to be one to satisfy any taste or use.

Mitsubishi’s Bread Oven is in a league of its own with a promise to serve you ‘the perfect toast’. Mimicking a waffle maker, the toaster looks like it’s come straight out of the ’80s with its retro-esque veneer brown look. Built with a sealed thermal-insulated structure, it can toast your bread without releasing any moisture, ensuring the bread is soft, fluffy, and far from being dry. The metal box is equipped with two plates that can go up to temperatures as high as 500 degrees Fahrenheit. These plates seal the slice of bread, transferring heat to it, and in turn make magic. The electric toaster is amped with four cooking settings; Toast, Frozen Toast, Topping, and French Toast. Select your cooking setting, along with the thickness of your bread (options are 30 mm/1.1″, 24 mm/0.9″, 20 mm/0.7″, and 15 mm/0.5″) and you’re almost good to go!

Made from heat-resistant and food-safe plastic, the Egguins are an innovative way to store, boil, or serve eggs. The hollow penguin shape allows you to slide eggs (both small and large) into it, completing it visually and making it look like a flock of Emperor Penguins ready to dash right into the water (the visual metaphor of connecting the egg, the bird, and the water is just perfect)! Immerse the Egguins into a saucepan of boiling water using the handle above, and just lift them out when you’re done boiling them to the softness or hardness of your choice. More of an omelet or a sunny-side-up kind of guy? You can use the Egguins to innovatively (and adorably) store your eggs in your fridge. Penguins do enjoy the cold, don’t they?

Shaped like a stainless steel handbag, Jacqueline is an electric tea kettle that comes with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to monitor and set the perfect heating conditions for boiling water. Unlike typical electric tea kettles that require just a measly flip of a switch, Jacqueline is laden with smart technology to assure users that a flavorful, hot cup of tea is always just a few moments away. Ditching the light switch, for a smart handle, Jacqueline comes with an interactive, digital display screen that indicates each brew’s water temperature and level as well as a signal that shows whether or not the kettle’s been turned on. In addition to this display screen, Bugatti boasts that Jacqueline can pair with your smartphone or tablet through Bluetooth, allowing users to operate Jacqueline from a distance through Bugatti’s accompanying app, Bugatti B Chef. Whether you’re reading for hours on end in bed or heading home from a day spent in the cold, with Jacqueline a hot cup of tea can always be waiting for you.

Designed with flexible catering in mind, Multiplug brings a new and welcomed element to social dining! Whilst one day we might just be cooking for ourselves and our partner, the next may see the entire family coming together for an occasion, at which point just the one hot plate doesn’t stretch very far! Multipleplug’s flexible design allows for up to five of the devices to be connected together at any one time! Daisy-chaining the hotplates means that the food is within reaching distance of everyone on the table… perfect for those large social gatherings that we love!

Foods spoil/age either by being exposed to bacteria in the air or by oxidizing in the presence of, well, oxygen. By eliminating air out of the equation, the Freshy! vacuum lids help significantly slow that process down. The Freshy! vacuum lids are a set of universally fitting circular lids that turn any regular bowl, mug, can, or container into a vacuum-sealed one. Armed with a handy pump that can create a vacuum within the container in just 5 seconds, Freshy’s glass lids sport a silicone-sealant that helps keep food fresher for longer by increasing their shelf life by as much as 700%! This means cooked meals and leftovers can last as long as 10 days, fruits as long as 2 weeks, cheeses for nearly two months, and your favorite coffee grounds for as long as an entire year. The lids sit flat on any container/vessel with a smooth circular rim, and the pump immediately creates an impermeable seal while removing all the air from inside the container.

I can’t begin to tell you how stressful poaching an egg is to the amateur cook. Every chef has their own technique which requires a fair amount of expertise. Some do it in a microwave, some swirl the water before they put the egg in, and some use tea strainers or cups to introduce the cracked egg to boiling water… and while each chef has their own poaching lifehack, none are as easy (and easy-looking) as using OTOTO’s Eggland poacher. Designed as a pool-tube that floats in water, this food-grade silicone device makes poaching eggs absolutely stress-free. Just place the Eggland in almost-boiling water, add a few drops of oil, and crack the egg right into its cavity. The egg looks like it’s lounging away, while the hot water below it cooks it to oozy-yolk perfection. Pull the device out by the handle that’s modeled after an inflatable palm tree, and flip the egg over your ham and cheese sandwich to upgrade it to an absolutely divine Croque Madame sandwich. Now THAT’s what I call a breakfast of champions!

The Crunch Cup is just the kind of invention I’d expect from a mad scientist who wanted to have a wholesome breakfast while rushing to work. For years we’ve been able to carry coffee, tea, juices, and milkshakes around with us in flasks, but having cereal on the go has always been that elusive concept that nobody bothered to crack… until now. That’s where the Crunch Cup is trying to change the game. The first cup that’s designed to have cereals while on the move, the Crunch Cup comes with double-wall construction and a double-mouthed lid to match. Made of an inner and outer container, the Crunch Cup holds both parts of the milk-and-cereal combo separately, keeping them away from each other so you’re not left with a soggy mess. The inner container holds the cereal of your choice, while the outer container is for the milk of your choice. A two-piece, double-mouthed lid sits on top, allowing you to take a sip of your milk and a crunch of your cereal at the same time. The cereal remains crunchy because it isn’t soaked in the milk until it reaches inside your mouth, and the lid itself can be closed so that you can take your breakfast with you on the go, taking a sip/crunch every 5-10 minutes whenever you feel like.

TidyBoard was designed to encourage healthy eating and turn it into a sustainable lifestyle change instead of a trend (looking at you, juice cleanse!). It streamlines your prep with strategically placed strainers, catches, and containers on the end of the cutting board so there is more to eat and less to clean. It keeps food and scraps separate and allows you to strain hands-free. When you are done with the chopping and cutting, one swipe of your hand will clear it all. TidyBoard is constructed from bamboo which is antibacterial and durable enough to last for years making the wear and tear worth the effort. Bamboo also makes it lightweight and eco-friendly. “The TidyBoard was mindfully influenced by math and physics. Our board is engineered as a lever to stay steady even with a heavy load in the containers,” says the team. It makes your morning meal-prep routine swift, efficient and hassle-free!

Kitchen appliances that will perfectly assist your chef dreams: Part 8

For someone who spent most of her life avoiding cooking,  I now find it surprisingly therapeutic, after taking it up during the lockdown. I love cooking up some of my comfort dishes, cozying up in my blanket, and chomping down on them while watching my favorite Netflix show. What really helps me with my cooking process are a bunch of trusty kitchen appliances! They help make tedious kitchen chores easier and faster, and also help me with any intricate cooking techniques. Playing around with nifty little kitchen gadgets and cooking up a storm has now become one of my favorite weekend routines. So, here are a collection of kitchen appliances that are a definite must-have on my kitchen wish-list, and they really do deserve a place on yours as well!

Ordine by Adriano Design is an innovative cooking solution designed for the modern user. Optimized for small spaces, the design eliminates the need for a bulky traditional stove, clearing the way for more cabinet and counter space. The design features two hob units that are mounted on a central power hub on the wall. Elevated neatly out of the way, the user must simply grab one or both hobs off the wall and set the desired temperature to activate.

In addition to this display screen, Bugatti boasts that Jacqueline can pair with your smartphone or tablet through Bluetooth, allowing users to operate Jacqueline from a distance through Bugatti’s accompanying app, Bugatti B Chef.

The Cheat Sheets by Chris Place & Will Matters of Prepd are basically, and this reference couldn’t be more relevant, social distancing containers for your ingredients. You use the same baking tray, but the Cheat Sheets silicone containers sit ON the tray, giving you miniature compartments to cook your food in. Veggies like asparagus that need shorter cook times can be added in the same tray as salmon, which needs more time in the oven. Once you feel like the asparagus is done, just reach in with your baking mitten and pull just the asparagus container out of the oven and let the salmon still cook inside. It’s easy, simple, and here’s the best part – your baking tray never gets dirty!

Chopbox is a smart chopping board that has so many unique features but the most relevant one in these ‘unprecedented times’ is the fact that it can actually kill germs on your cooking tools and space! Get rid of counter clutter and those extra kitchen accessories with this much-needed upgrade.

Designed to be your go-to for any cooking measurements, the Kitchen Cube integrates all measuring vessels into its singular, yellow, cube-shaped body. With over 19+ measuring units designed into its 6-sided shape, the Kitchen Cube can be used to measure anything from teaspoons and tablespoons to even cups, working with both wet and dry ingredients alike. The cube comes with both metric and US measuring units molded into its unique design, allowing you to even measure out your ingredients in milliliters if the recipe calls for it.

The Infinite Line Dual Cook is designed for better integration within the furniture while simultaneously offering an exceptional user experience. The designers believed in the need to find new ways of innovation, not only centered in technology but more towards culture and behavioral changes in society which echoes the sentiments of JaeSeung Lee (President & Head of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Division) who said, “Consumers, especially millennials, are spending more time at home and demanding products that enhance their everyday lives with customized features. Great, reliable performance is now a basic expectation. The standard for a better, smarter home experience is now decided by how closely appliances can be ‘fit’ to various customer lifestyles,” and that is where form can upgrade the functionality of tech.

Made from heat-resistant and food-safe plastic, the Egguins by Peleg Design is an innovative way to store, boil, or serve eggs. The hollow penguin shape allows you to slide eggs (both small and large) into it, completing it visually and making it look like a flock of Emperor Penguins ready to dash right into the water – the visual metaphor of connecting the egg, the bird, and the water is just perfect! The uniform placement of the eggs also ensures they are cooked evenly, perfect for every new cook. Whoever said cooking cannot be fun.

It sounds like a bizarre question, but to be honest, it’s all in the physics of knife-work.

The genius of the Visual Measuring Cups is that not only do they provide a fixed, standard measurement, but they’re also visually indicative too. Designed by Pam Daniels to look like the fractions they represent, the cups make it easier to understand measurements. The quarter cup is quadrant-shaped, the half-cup is semi-circular. This sheer sensibility makes it quicker to measure out multiple ingredients without worrying about whether your measurements are accurate, because you know for sure they are! The Visual Measuring Cups turn textual references into visual references, helping us understand the measurements better. While most measuring beakers and cups use indicative lines to ‘tell’ you how much half a cup is, the Visual Measuring Cup ‘shows’ you how much half a cup is, giving you a quicker, better understanding of fractional metrics.

The Nest Oven tins feature a simple innovation that solves a familiar problem – removing hot oven dishes whilst wearing thick & cumbersome oven-gloves. A specially designed lip on the front of the tray makes it easier to pull the tray out of the oven, and wide handles on the side let you hold the tray once it’s out of the oven… you know, so you don’t risk fumbling with your tray of food, much like Kevin with his famous chili. And here’s the best part – like all of the products in the Joseph Joseph Nest™ line, the oven tins nest right within each other for easy storage!

Yanko Design recommends these nifty kitchen appliances to shop now to elevate your cooking game!

I love cooking, and with the pandemic restricting me to my home at most times, I love experimenting and brewing up new and exotic dishes! They don’t always turn out to be a success, but my time in the kitchen is always enjoyable and an adventure by itself. I do appreciate nifty kitchen gadgets…A LOT. They can turn the most basic prep tasks and chores into something simple, easy, and fun! They can transform tedious cooking processes into short and efficient ones. A good kitchen gadget can really liven up your cooking experience, so we’ve curated a few of our favorite ones! These are YD recommended products that you can buy and will surely love!

Ordine

Ordine is an innovative cooking solution designed for the modern user. Clad in materials consisting of natural wood and copper, the design not only saves valuable kitchen real estate but is made to complement your interior aesthetic on display.

Available in four sizes spanning a full cup, half cup, one-third cup, and quarter cup, the Visual Measuring Cups are easy to use and need literally no explanation. Their visual nature allows them to be used universally, without numbers or languages being a barrier… and just when things couldn’t get any better, they nest right into one another to make them easy to store!

Cheat sheet

Designed for better control, the Cheat Sheets don’t just allow you to segregate separate ingredients for the same dish, they let you simultaneously cook two separate dishes together too, separating them according to flavor. The most obvious instance is in desserts, where people tend to get picky. I, for instance, am a basic vanilla and fruit junkie, while others around me usually tend to gravitate towards decadent chocolate desserts. The Cheat Sheets allow you to simultaneously cook two separate dishes in their respective containers – as opposed to using rudimentary aluminum foil dividers, or running your oven for two separate cycles. The Cheat Sheets let you responsibly divide and utilize real estate on your baking tray, giving you the ability to be versatile, and still be in control of your cooking. In fact, each Cheat Sheet container-set comes with its own baking tray, as well as a handy guide that gives you cooking times and temperatures for all your food, so you never over or undercook any ingredient again.

Dubbed the Dome, this compact oven by Gozney is very versatile. It is a professional-grade outdoor oven designed to work effortlessly for experienced chefs and novice ones alike. Whether you have guests over on a Sunday afternoon or have a family dinner, Gozney Dome can be there to take care of the cooking needs as long you have wood to burn. Even though wood-fired cooking is ideal in an outdoor setting if that’s not what the kids want – turn the dial and switch to the built-in gas burner and continue cooking at temperatures up to 500°C. You can roast, steam, smoke, bake, or BBQ inside the 25- x 24- x 28-inch Dome that includes a digital thermometer – a big upgrade over gimmicky ovens designed for the outdoors!

COFFEEJACK comes from the folks at Hribarcain, famed for their great work in the EDC department. Now, they’ve set out to shrink the coffee machine to a form factor so small, you might as well carry it around everywhere you go along with the rest of your belongings. The COFFEEJACK works with any coffee-grind, enabling you to have your favorite espresso anywhere you go, while also reducing your dependence on those earth-polluting Nespresso and Keurig pods. Just add your coffee grind to the lower chamber and COFFEEJACK’s in-built tamper will level the grounds and pack them tightly. Open out the pump and pour hot water into the upper chamber and you’re ready to go! The espresso maker’s manual pump matches the high-pressure output of most coffee machines, giving you an espresso that is as deliciously thick and even has that layer of flavor-packed crema on top, just like the one your barista makes with professional equipment.

Perfect for a nice alfresco barbecue, the BBQ Toolbox comes in a handy, portable size, and is made entirely from steel and coated with heat-resistant red paint. An 8×15” main grilling area is large enough to serve up a meal for as many as 4 people. The secondary grill serves as a warming rack, letting you keep food like sliders or hot dog buns warm while you grill up patties and sausages. When you’re done with your meal, lift the main grilling platform to discard your coals and give the entire toolbox a quick wipe-down before folding it up and carrying it back home. I’d advise you to store this bad-boy in your kitchen, though… you don’t want to accidentally carry your screwdriver, hammer, and wrench-set to your barbecue!

MyCuppa makes the question “How do you like your coffee?” a little easier to answer! The cup, which comes with its own color-matching guide along the rim, helps you make consistent coffee every time by allowing you to visually judge the coffee’s strength. The color guide ranges from milky beige (which incidentally is how I like my coffee) to a strong, dark black. Just pour your coffee in and keep adding milk or creamer till you get the color your heart and taste-buds desire. There’s even a color-guide version for tea-drinkers, so you can calibrate your beverage’s intensi-tea! Designed by the fun-loving folk at SuckUK, the ceramic mug comes in a single standard size and is microwave-safe and dishwasher friendly. Makes a perfect stocking-stuffer for any coffee-craver or a tea-vangelist!

The THRONE celebrates the egg’s goodness by allowing you to admire it as you eat it. Its minimalist design does a mighty good job of holding the egg in place while also showing it off… hence the name. The simple form factor, apart from being unusual to look at, is also stackable, non-breakable, and works equally well with lemons, mandarins, strawberries, and perhaps a medium-sized avocado too. Designed in Denmark (that’s where the sense of minimalism and slight tongue-in-cheek humor comes from), the THRONE comes in a set of 4, available in red or black, and highly recommended by chefs around the world like Wolfgang Cluck and Henston Blumhenthal!

The ICEY is a nifty little container that’s tall enough to fit right into your freezer. Inside it is an automatic churner that works just like an ice-cream maker does. Pour your drink into the ICEY and stash it in the freezer for up to 90 minutes and the ICEY turns it into an instant granita. As the cold temperatures freeze your drink, the ICEY continuously churns it, turning into a flavorful snowy, crushed-ice beverage. It retains and amps up the flavors because you’re not adding any extra ice to it… you’re just turning it into ice instead… and unlike simply placing a bottle of juice into a freezer and turning it into a popsicle, the ICEY makes sure the resulting beverage is semisolid like a slushie and can be sipped through a straw.

Kitchen appliances that will perfectly assist your chef dreams: Part 7

I love food, and cooking it can often be a very therapeutic and intimate experience. And with the pandemic restricting us to our homes, it’s an experience that more and more people are indulging in. However, cooking is not always an easy feat, and having handy kitchen gadgets at our disposal is always great. They can help save up on a lot of preparation time, and turn tedious little tasks into something fun! So, here are a few interesting kitchen gadgets that will help you achieve all your cooking dreams!

Jesden Tang has revamped the ordinary egg boiler! The new and improved egg boiler, ‘Egge’ has a simple form, the yellow section reminds you of the egg yolk, whereas the transparent portion instantly brings egg whites to our mind! Tang also added a handle that allows you to measure the amount of water you pour into the boiler. Making eggs for breakfast has never been quicker or more efficient.

Squeezing lemons is always a tedious task, however, this Ceramic Lemon Squeezer by Brian Khouw makes it a little more interesting. The aesthetically pleasing squeezer looks like a conch shell freshly plucked off the beach.

The kitchen gear that’s worth your money

Based on everyone’s Instagram feeds, it seems like you’ve all been spending a lot more time in the kitchen lately. Folks have been baking bread, whipping their coffee and even attempting to make their own pasta. In the process, you’ve probably found...

A coffee grinder that fits your millennial interior aesthetic

My day only really starts once I have had my cup of coffee. To me, it is not a beverage but a life-juice that awakens my mind and my soul! Being a coffee enthusiast, I have a whole mini barista set up in my kitchen – the espresso machine, the steam wand, the tamper – all of it. But what most of us skip is the coffee grinder and it is truly a taste-altering step. This shaded coffee grinder by Husky Design will tempt you into making coffee the right way!

Coffee grinders add a whole new level of “fresh” to your beverage, there is a different quality that bubbles up when you grind whole beans and use it in your machine rather than pre-packaged grounds. Especially when the coffee grinder looks this sleek, how can you not want to get a machine just so that you get to use this grinder? It almost looks so smooth as if it was carved from one piece of glass. The minimal yet eye-catching bright button seamlessly fits into the lid which has a translucent top to give you a peek at your beans.

Unlike the usual black or grey coffee grinders, the gradient shades of this radiate a happy feeling and give the underrated gadget a colorful personality. For me personally, the whizzing sound of the coffee grinder also wakes me up, it is like a sound signal to my brain that we must start functioning which is then rewarded by the smell of fresh grounds. Take that extra step and grind your beans, you will love coffee even more (if that is still a possibility)!

Peleg Design’s pelican is the only bird allowed in your kitchen!

I love to cook, but I hate to do the dishes after. The soaking dishes, the wet cloth, the soapy sponge – it is all so damp! Designer Gil Cohen has created Pelix for Peleg Design, a cute kitchen companion that will reduce your internal shrieks and actually lift your mood while doing dishes. This little pelican shaped cloth and sponge holder will be perched on your counter and the only thing that will fly is the time taken to do chores.

Pelix’s bright break is actually a cloth holder, so hang up that dishcloth while the body of the pelican is a cup for your sponge. Pelix makes it easy to keep dish cleaning essentials right where they are needed with its suction cup bottom, but unlike Ross Geller, it can pivot and make your life easier! Usually, we always look for a blind spot in our kitchen that guests cannot see to keep dishcloths and sponges because having them dry right there can ruin the interior aesthetics of your space, however, this handy pelican will fetch many compliments for its form while being super functional.

That is why it is called a pelican, not a pelicant – get it!?

Get curved toasts with this toaster…because it makes absolute sense!

A toaster is a staple in every household, and toast a part of almost everyone’s breakfast. We’re all used to the usual rectangular box-like form of toasters, however, Jexter Lim’s Arctoas is a breath of fresh air. Arctoas is said to serve toast with a whimsical smile. Intrigued? Me too! Unlike the shape and structure of conventional toasters, Arctoas has a curved circular form. To be honest, it almost looks like a small air purifier! Two cylindrical sheets of mica were combined, with a nichrome wire running vertically through them (which prevents the bread from getting stuck) to create the toaster’s ergonomic form. And on hindsight, it makes absolute sense to have a curved toast!

Lim’s aim was to create a unique bread toasting and breakfast experience. He wanted to provide a refreshing touch to a family’s breakfast routine in the morning. Arctoas comes with a circular slot that runs all around the toaster. You simply slip your toast into the slot. A curved Capacitive Touch Switch is provided as an alternative to physical buttons. You can adjust the settings of the toaster using the switch, according to your personal toast preference. Once the toast is ready, a motorized carriage lifts up the bread, so you can pluck it out! However, the curved form of the toaster molds the toast, giving it a curved shape as well!

The curved toast looks almost an arc and is much easier to hold and eat as compared to your regular square-shaped toast. The curved toast fits seamlessly into your palm, allowing you to easily spread butter, jam, or any condiment of your choice. You can even pile on some eggs, avocadoes, tomatoes or more without fear of them spilling or falling over! Ingenious isn’t it! In fact, the curved slice of bread looks like a smile. With Arctoas even your daily bread will greet you with a cheerful grin and keep you stain-free as you head out to start your day! Now, why didn’t someone invent this before?!
