Fallout 76 Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI Construction Kit Transports You to the Wasteland

We don’t know too much about Fallout 76 quite yet, but one thing we do know is that it’ll have a Pip-Boy 2000. What you are looking at is the official Fallout 76 Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI Self-Assembly Construction Kit which is available to pre-order right this minute. Count your bottle caps and get yours now because these will sell quickly, even priced at $150.

This officially-licensed Fallout 76 Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI replica gives you the components needed to build your own. It was designed using 3D geometry from none other than Bethesda’s design studio. You can use it for cosplay or just to display in your home. The details are really nice. In fact, the “buttons press, knobs turn, the radio dial ‘tunes’ and the holotape player ejects a holotape just like it does in the game.” Nice.

There are over 150 parts in the kit, but it is easy to assemble. I never thought I would be able to build my own Pip-Boy like some Vault Dweller. They say it will take you 1 to 2 hours to assemble it completely. Once you do build it you can go explore the wasteland that was once America in style. How else are you going to keep track of your inventory and stats? The kits should ship in November of 2018, but you’ll want to pre-order yours now from ThinkGeek before they are all sold out.

Pip-Boy Deluxe Bluetooth Edition Can’t Block Preston Garvey

If you have played Fallout 4 much, you know it doesn’t matter how often you help Preston Garvey, he always needs you to do more. He’s pretty busy bashing on fans and walls with his hammer though. ThinkGeek is showing off the coolest bit of Fallout swag ever, a Pip-Boy that you can actually wear. More precisely, you’re looking at RobCo Industries’ Pip-Boy Model 3000 Mk IV.

Unlike other Pip-Boy replicas, this one isn’t just a case for your smartphone. It’s got its own screen, and designed to sync with your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. It can show you caller ID, SMS messages, and stream audio files, among other things. Most of the buttons and dials on the thing actually work. It also has a cosplay mode that shows the Status, Special, and Perk screens from the game.

The stand looks like it came right out of the game and charges the wearable, and also has has speakers inside. The whole works comes in a tin that looks like you found it lying in a vault somewhere. The Pip-Boy is in prototype form now so we aren’t sure how long it lasts per charge or what screen resolution is offered.

ThinkGeek is taking pre-orders for $349.99(USD) with shipping in November, which makes this the perfect gift for the Fallout fan on your Christmas list.

Make Your Own Fallout 4 Pip-Boy

On the most recent episode of the AWE Me show DIY Prop Shop, they show you how to build your own version of the Pip-Boy from Fallout 4. Vault-Tec or Rob Co could not have done a better job. At least not on this budget.

Usually to get a sweet Pip-Boy like this you have to find it on a corpse in the wasteland, but it turns out, it isn’t that difficult to make your own. You’ll just need some poster tube, some foamcore, a paint stir stick, some miscellaneous hardware, paint, hot glue, and of course the Fallout Pip-Boy app for your smartphone. The total build cost was only $21(USD).

It doesn’t appear to be the most durable Pip-Boy you can make, but it gets the job done and looks awesome. So it is perfect for cosplay and just having fun with. I love all of the weathering and wear details.

Introducing: The New Pip-Boy

Check out this Apple style promo that focuses on the one piece of equipment that we all love in Fallout, the Pip-Boy. This internal Bethesda Game Studios video dates back to the Holidays of 2013. It was used to show-off what the new Pip-Boy looked like to the company, and features Apple’s design chief Jony Ive to make it extra realistic.

I agree with everything Jony says in this video. I use my Pip-Boy all of the time. Isn’t that what most of the game is? Pulling it up, exiting, only to pull it back up again for something else? That’s basically the whole game with some story thrown in between. I can’t argue with anything. It is just the best device ever.

Of course one of my arms is way stronger than the other now. A bit longer too. A bit numb from constantly wearing it. But it’s all good. I love my Pip-Boy!

DIY Pip-Boy 3000 with Practical Features: Vault Dweller the Explorer

We’ve seen a couple of fan-made wearable Pip-Boy replicas with useful functions. Will Sweatman wanted to make the most advanced Pip-Boy 3000 yet, and he believes he’s succeeded. In exchange for some sizable junk in its trunk, his replica is a Swiss army knife for explorers.

Inside the Pip-Boy 3000 Mk.II’s 3D printed body – based on YTEC3D’s design – are a ton of practical tools, such as a flashlight, a GPS module and a barometer and temperature sensor. There are also a couple of frivolous tools, such as a TV-B-Gone and a music player.

Here’s a closer look at the replica’s screens and hardware:

And here are the electronics:

I’d love to see a practical iDroid replica too. Fast travel to Will’s Instructables page for his full guide and links to the necessary files.

Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Messenger Bag: It’s Rad(s)

We all wish we could have a Pip-Boy 3000 Mark IV mounted to our wrist, but unless you were born in a vault, they are pretty hard to come by. At least we can carry this Fallout 4 messenger bag. It will hold all of your ammunition, frag grenades, mines, Rad-X, kebabs and such.

This Pip-Boy is ready to hold all of your stuff. But don’t carry too much, or you will be so heavy that you’ll be forced to drop some items. Since it’s still technically a Pip-Boy, it could help keep you alive for another day in the wasteland.

Get it for about $69(USD) from Forbidden Planet. It’s totally rad!

DIY Fallout 4 Pip-Boy 3D Files: Jury Printing

The limited edition Fallout 4 that comes with a Pip-Boy 3000 Mark IV replica is already sold out. But thanks to 3D printing and Yvo de Haas, you can fill your wrists, legs, cats and even the entire world with Pip-Boys.

Yvo admits that his design doesn’t look exactly like the Pip-Boy in Fallout 4 because he based it only on what he saw in the trailers and teasers. That said, his current design already looks great.

Yvo made two versions of the Pip-Boy. One is similar to the official replica in that you can place a smartphone inside, while the other one has more accurate dimensions. The latter will be perfect for cosplayers and makers. Both versions will be available in three sizes. Here’s a look at the smartphone variant:

Yvo will make his 3D files available for free on his website, although as of this writing only the files of the smallest smartphone variant are available. He’s not going to print Pip-Boys to sell because he doesn’t have the time, but he did say that there’s an Etsy seller who’s going to sell completed units.

DIY Pip-Boy 3000 Map: Explorer Perk

Redditor themcv put together a Pip-Boy 3000A replica for a lucky friend. Based on selectnone’s RasPipBoy user interface, themcv’s replica can show your location on Google Maps and do a couple of other things, all in the classic green monochrome graphics of the Fallout item.

The replica’s case is a 3D printed one from Nakamura Shop, the screen is from Adafruit’s 3.5″ 320×240 TV and the brain is of course a Raspberry Pi running on the aforementioned UI. It’s not quite finished though. As you can see there are no buttons or knobs on it yet.

PipBoy 3000a

It’s also not entirely portable. It’s meant to be worn with a Vault 101 jumpsuit that has room for the Raspberry Pi and batteries, which are both wired to the rest of the electronics inside the Pip-Boy case.

If smartwatches were as cool as this I would’ve bought one by now.
