Skarp Laser Razor Never Needs Blades and Won’t Nick Your Kiwis

I know no one who actually likes to shave. I’ve tried everything from old school safety razors to electric razors to disposable razors with blades that cost $15 for three. They all suck and leave my skin burning after the fact.

I’m totally down with trying the new Skarp Laser Razor. It shaves your face with a laser that is safe for your eyes and won’t cut your skin. Let that last part sink in, the laser won’t leave behind any irritation or nicks after you shave, if the folks behind the project are to be believed anyway. If you’re the sort who shaves your kiwis, that is perhaps the best news ever.

The laser is good for 50,000 hours and runs for a month on a single AAA battery. It’s makers even say it’s waterproof and can be used in the shower.

The project has already destroyed its Kickstarter goal with over $661,000 raised at the time of writing. A pledge of $159 (USD) or more will get you a Skarp Laser Razer by March 2016 if all goes well. I’m in.

Don’t struggle with stubble – Get The Razorpit

Here’s the deal with hair, it’s a nuisance to comb, it gets in our food, it clogs our bathrooms, and here’s the recent grievance. With constant shaving, the edge of the blade becomes ineffective because of hair particle buildup, and cleaning it is next to impossible because you have to be super careful while handling the sharp blades. Now with waxing your beard not being a mentally sane option, the only alternative has been to periodically switch razor blades; which can really burn a hole in your pocket if you sprout whiskers faster than the Wolfman. Do want Razorpit!

Since quite a while now, Razor companies have started using what is called a DLC, or a Diamond-Like Carbon coating on the blades, giving it its dangerously sharp edge. However, within a fortnight of usage, the blades stop working as smoothly, often pinching or nicking the skin. This coating doesn’t wear off easily, and more times than you’d be led to believe, the blades just need a good cleaning to be restored to their former glory. The Razorpit, developed by Firtal Brands boasts of cleaning your blades so well, that they can be used to 300% of their promised potential.

With a patented friction surface that gently removes particulate matter from around your blades, the Razorpit cleans your blades to an extent that you can notice the difference on even a microscopic level.

Here’s what you have to do:

  • After shaving, lubricate the Razorpit surface with thin layer of your shaving cream/foam.
  • Smoothly, yet firmly, rub your blades (face down) on the surface, upwards (opposite to the shaving direction).
  • Make sure you run the blade from one end of the surface to the other. Do this roughly 5 times after every time you shave.
  • Don’t forget to rinse your blade in warm water once you’re done.
  • Lastly, go buy something cool with the money you save from not having to purchase extra shaving blades.

Don’t struggle with stubble. Now you can shave the way every man aspires to, like playing Fruit Ninja with your beard.

Razor Is Making a Real Life Mario Kart with the Crazy Cart XL

Mario Kart is awesome, but it just makes you wish you had a real life version to zip around in and throw banana peels and turtle shells. Well Razor is making a real life version. The Razor Cray Cart XL is a follow-up to a smaller version they made for kids a while back. This one is much cooler.

mario kart for adultsmagnify

This one is for the adults who want some real life Mario Kart fun. It will accommodate a 6’3″ 250-pound rider and has even been tested up to 300 pounds. I wouldn’t push it too far past that limit though, for all you Comic Book Guy types out there.

See it in action in the video here. It looks super fun.

The Crazy Cart XL will retail for $800 when it goes on sale in December and will make one heck of a Christmas present.

Nexus 7 factory image and binaries now available from Google

Wanna mod that shiny new Nexus 7? Today's your lucky day. Google just posted the factory image and binaries for its second generation 7-inch tablet -- also known by the product name "razor" and device name "flo". The factory image lets you restore your new Nexus 7 to the exact software it shipped with in case you grow tired of that custom ROM you cooked up using the binaries (natch). Speaking of which, the packages include drivers for audio and sensors from ASUS, NFC from Broadcom plus graphics and everything-but-the-kitchen-sink from Qualcomm. This comes mere hours after some open source drama surrounding the binaries (which now appears to be resolved) and with plenty of time to spare for UK customers. Follow the source links below and have fun hacking this weekend.

Shave With Your Fingers

The Embrace electric shaver is unlike any you’ve seen before. The ergonomic design positions itself in the users hand to create tactile feedback and enhanced pressure sensitivity, decreasing the overall negative impact repeated shaving has on the skin. An adjustable sensor also measures the smoothness of the area so the perfect shave is achieved each time.

Möbius Shaver is Simple and Complicated at the Same Time

Who would imagine that something as basic and ordinary as a razor might get re-imagined and re-designed into something more like a sculpture?

Möbius Shaver1

That’s what designer Penghao Shan did with the Möbius Shaver. The design is still ergonomic, although I can’t really tell with all the bends and extra handles here and there. What I can’t deny though, is how much better it looks and how stable it seems to be with its new design.

Möbius Shaver

It’s clear from the name where Shan got the inspiration for the shaver: the Möbius strip, which is defined as “a surface with only one side and only one boundary component.”

moebius shaver 3

It looks like Shan did a good job with sticking to that definition, because there are few sides and boundaries I can tell apart with the shaver.
