Integrated salt and pepper shaker adds some style to your table

When you use a lot of salt and pepper for cooking and eating, you probably have separate containers for both. And while there are some pretty cute salt and pepper shakers available that can make dinner more interesting, there’s also room for some kitchen accessories that can hold both but separately. If you’re trying to add some more nice, cute, or minimalist things to your kitchen or dining table, a lot of product designers are coming up with interesting concepts, including this one for an integrated salt and pepper shaker.

Designer: Jonas Finkeldei

An Industrial Design student at the Academy for Design at Münster has come up with a concept for a minimalist-looking yet stylish salt and pepper shaker in just one piece. Stui is made from oak and beech and has two chambers that are separate for the two spices. The slider part has the darker color and can be moved up and down depending on which of the two that you need to come out of the sprinkling openings. The holes seem small enough that it’s easy to control how much comes out of it.

The shaker actually looks more like a harmonica at first glance because of its elongated shape. Unlike most of the salt and pepper shakers that have either a round shape and are made of mostly glass materials, this one has a bar-like design and uses a wooden aesthetic. There are of course a lot of other wooden shakers out there but this one makes it more convenient for you as you will just need one container for both spices and will not even mix them together.

While it’s still just a concept for now, it’s actually something that’s pretty feasible and can eventually be part of restaurants’ tables or your own. It’s actually pretty simple and the function is also simple, but well designed and interesting products like these are something we always watch out for.

Game of Thrones Dragon Egg Salt and Pepper Shakers: Seasoning is Coming

These Game of Thrones Dragon Egg Salt and Pepper Shakers are perfect for seasoning those giant Westeros meals no matter what house you belong to. I wouldn’t recommend them to season actual dragon meat because that just seems cruel. These are dragon eggs after all.

These are going to look great on your table, especially if your last name is Targaryen. For $24.99(USD), you get a set of three dragon eggs – salt and pepper shakers, and a toothpick holder. Though picking food out of your teeth at the table is gross. Even the Thenns don’t do that.

The set comes with a fancy ceramic tray, and is packed in a decorative gift box, so feel free to give this to any serious Game of Thrones fan. It makes an egg-cellent gift.

Star Wars Lightsaber Salt and Pepper Grinders: Imperial Seasoning

Season your meals with the light side or the dark side with these cool grinders. These lightsaber salt and pepper grinders are the latest kitchen accessory in your already oversaturated Star Wars themed kitchen.

The blue is for salt and the red is for pepper, obviously. So instead of saying pass the salt, you would now say, “Your father wanted you to have this.” They aren’t long enough for dinner table lightsaber fights, but you can try to battle as you spill salt and pepper all over the place.

You can grab a set over on Amazon for $39.99(USD). Disney executives won’t sleep until the entire planet is covered in Star Wars related kitchen toys.

Darth Vader / Stormtrooper Salt and Pepper Shakers Add a Dash of Evil to Any Meal

Throughout the Star Wars saga, we’ve never seen the Imperial forces take a break out of their day to grab something to eat. But a stormtrooper has got to keep his strength up, so I’m sure they chow down when Darth Vader isn’t looking. To season their food, I’m certain they use these special Imperial salt and pepper shakers.

This pair of hand-painted ceramic shakers are dead ringers for the Dark Lord of the Sith and one of his armor-clad lemmings. They’re perfect for adding a dash of salt and pepper to the otherwise bland meals the Imperial lunch lady serves up in the Death Star cafeteria. I have it on good authority that the Bantha casserole they’ve been serving is horribly bland.

Spice up your meal and grab a pair over on Amazon for just $13.75(USD).

Rocket Salt and Pepper Mills: 3… 2… 1… Fresha Peppa!

These rocket-shaped salt and pepper mills perfect kitchen accessories for astronauts. After all, I’ve heard that the food they serve on the International Space Station isn’t very tasty, and could probably use a bit of seasoning.

Each mill is crafted from solid beech wood, measures 14″ tall and is ready to blast off with a plume of salt or pepper instead of explosive gasses. You wouldn’t want that anyhow – unless you wanted to burn your food. On the other hand, it might be neat to had one that doubled as a torch for caramelizing sugar on the top of your crème brûlée. But I digress. Damn, now I want dessert.

Darth Vader and Stormtrooper Salt & Pepper Shakers: Your Lack of Seasoning is Disturbing

You know what’s odd? We never ever saw Darth Vader or any of his Stormtroopers stop for a meal. You’d think battling the Jedi-Rebel Alliance and building Death Stars (yes, plural) would work up a mean hunger. And if you are gonna eat a meal, it better be seasoned well. At a bare minimum, you need some salt and pepper.

I think that it’s more likely that the Jedi would use these Darth Vader and Stormtrooper salt and pepper shakers since they kind of reduce the Empire to a role of simple servitude. Naturally, the Vader shaker holds pepper, while the Trooper holds salt.

So use The Force to open another browser tab and head over to Convenient Gadgets & Gifts to order a pair now for $19.95(USD). Now I want a Darth Maul shaker for my chili powder. And Grand Moff Tarkin for cumin. And Count Dooku for oregano.

Salt and Pepper Slide

The Salt & Pepper Slides are a modern, elegant twist on classic shakers that were designed around the idea that contents could gently slide out versus being shaken out. A small capsule in the center holds the pepper or salt which are easily & intuitively distributed by simply lifting the upward tail of the S-shaped shaker.

Traffic Cone Salt and Pepper Shakers are No Accident

I don’t know about you guys, but I have more salt and pepper shakers than I really should have in my house. But it’s stuff like this that makes me add to my collection of offbeat shakers with no end in sight.

traffic cone salt pepper

Designed by Labyrinth, these salt and pepper shakers are made up to look like those annoying traffic cones that always seem to be right in the middle of the lane you just moved into – or in the parking space you were about to take. At least when you knock these over, you won’t risk damaging the undercarriage of your car – but you might end up with some bad luck if you tip the salt over. Spilt pepper, on the other hand, will just make you sneeze.

Each traffic cone shaker measures about 4-inches-tall, and they come in a nice box perfect for gift-giving. The pair sells for $32 to $37(USD) over at the designboom shop, depending on whether you live in Europe or elsewhere around the globe.
