World’s first MagSafe tripod lets you turn your iPhone into a powerful cinematic device

Meet MagStick – a selfie-stick that also doubles as a tripod with a feature that sets it apart from the rest. With a MagSafe mount, MagStick allows you to instantly snap your iPhone in place and get shooting. When used as a selfie stick, the MagStick extends a whopping 63.5 inches, and in its tripod mode, MagStick allows you to use your iPhone like you would a professional camera. All it takes is two snaps – firstly for the iPhone to snap into place, and secondly for you to snap the shutter button!

Although the idea sounds rather elementary to begin with, it’s funny how nobody’s exploited the MagSafe mounting system for tripods yet. MagStick allows you to conveniently stick your iPhone onto its fixture thanks to the magnetic ring, and further secure it with clasps so there’s absolutely no chance of your phone falling out. The clasps mean MagStick works with other phones too, securely gripping onto your device with the mere press of a button on the back.

The MagStick can be visually split into its two halves – the Mag half, and the Stick half. The upper half with the magnets holds your phone, while the lower half works as a tripod or a selfie stick. Depending on how you want to use your smartphone’s already capable camera, the MagStick shapeshifts to your demands. The telescopic tripod/selfies-stick stretches to well over 5 feet in length (63.5 inches to be precise), and the MagStick’s 3-axis adjustment system lets you rotate, tilt, and swivel your phone to orient it at just the right angle.

Each MagStick also comes with its own embedded Bluetooth shutter button that lets you remotely trigger the camera. You can even pop the Bluetooth remote out of the MagStick, using it as a wireless remote instead of relying on your phone’s camera timer feature.

The MagStick isn’t phone-specific, though. Detach the MagSafe clamping system and underneath sits a standard tripod mount which lets you mount traditional photography devices like an action camera, a 360° camera, or even a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. However, that MagSafe clamp does unlock the MagStick’s true potential – aside from just acting as a mounting system for your phone, it comes with two additional threaded inputs for accessories like lights and microphones.

While the title of being the “world’s first MagSafe tripod” sounds rather gimmicky, in the case of MagStick, it actually does more than you’d think. Tripods were designed for professional cameras, and selfie sticks were designed for tacky tourist photography. The MagStick, on the other hand, covers a much wider area, by giving your smartphone the ability to capture footage in a new, controlled way. The MagStick is perfect for travel (it weighs a mere 650g) but it’s also great for vlogging, livestreaming, and even for more professional video calls. Its MagSafe and intuitive clamping feature means the tripod prioritizes smartphones over more professional gear, letting you use the camera at hand… with the ability to snap on accessories like lights, mics, and extra battery packs.

You can grab the MagStick for a 34% discounted price of $59 by visiting their Kickstarter page. The product begins shipping in July 2022.

This face-tracking robotic selfie stick gives your Tik-Tok videos a professional edge!

Don’t be fooled by its relatively plain, power-bank-like appearance. Sitting within the LUMI ELFI’s rectangular frame is some of the most capable consumer-grade gimbal technology you can get your hands on. Designed as a tech-enabled selfie stick, the LUMI ELFI does MUCH more than just let you remotely click pictures… it comes with the ability to pan horizontally and vertically, switch between front and rear cameras, capture panoramas and timelapses, and automatically face-track subjects, following them as they move. In short, apart from simply allowing you to hold the phone further away from yourself, the LUMI ELFI upgrades your camera skills, allowing you to get better angles and capture more professional looking shots… and when all’s said and done, the LUMI ELFI folds up and fits right into your pocket.

Designed for the consumer-driven media age, the LUMI ELFI packs professional-grade gear into a portable, accessible device. With a telescopic arm that holds your camera, LUMI ELFI gives you the advantage of a selfie-stick, allowing you to capture media from a host of angles, while a series of buttons on the LUMI ELFI’s grip allow you to tap into its wide array of features. Designed to work with the LUMI camera app, the prosumer selfie gimbal comes with a control panel that turns you from a photographer into a director. The control panel allows you to steadily pan in any direction, allowing you to capture landscapes as video, or a panorama. Zoom buttons let you close in on a subject or move out to capture your subject and its background, while a ‘Switch Camera’ button turns lets you quickly and intuitively toggle between cameras and subjects. Combining all this with the LUMI camera app’s AI chops, the LUMI ELFI even lets you perform more complex tasks like facial tracking, allowing the selfie stick to autonomously and automatically detect your subject and follow it around so you don’t have to… in fact, you don’t even have to hold the LUMI ELFI if you don’t want to. Its wide rectangular design makes it stable enough to stand on its own, giving you the ability to place it on any flat surface and have it film you and/or your surroundings on its own. If you want to do a little better than that, the LUMI ELFI has a tripod mount on its base, so you can fix it along with your phone on a secure tripod, a feature that’s especially handy on windy days or on inclined surfaces.

Calling the LUMI ELFI a selfie stick feels a bit like a disservice, but it’s difficult to think of a word for a product that’s sort of a first in its category. It’s much more than a selfie stick, and easily more portable, affordable, and consumer-friendly than a gimbal. At just an inch thick, the LUMI ELFI can fit into most pockets or any camera/laptop bag. It comes with over 8 hours of battery life (more than 24 hours if you’re using the timelapse mode), and charges in under 2 hours via MicroUSB. With its handy format, telescopic arm, and rugged silicone grips that hold your phone securely, the LUMI ELFI is every bit as portable and handy as any selfie stick… but has the ability to completely transform your videos into something that looks like it was shot with professional gear!

LUMI ELFI – Selfie Grip With Auto Face Tracking

LUMI ELFI is the next-gen selfie grip that combines the convenience of a smartphone camera with the versatility of a DSLR. Features include Auto Face Tracking, Auto Panorama, Auto Motion TimeLapse and more.

The Auto Face Tracking Feature

The Auto Face Tracking feature detects your face and motion so that the camera smoothly follows you when you move out of frame. Instead of limiting your range of motion to fit in the small mobile screen, LUMI ELFI gives you the freedom to capture movement with no interruptions to your natural flow.

This feature comes especially in handy when you want to film or shoot vertically. Vertical videos have become the new standard on major social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Whether you want to live-stream a cool recipe in the kitchen, make a travel vlog, or finally film that new TikTok dance you’ve been practicing, this feature provides unparalleled convenience for any independent creative.

Auto Panorama

Panoramas become much easier to shoot with LUMI ELFI.

Its built-in tilt meter guides you to find the optimal angle to take a seamless 360° of your surrounding. When the meter reads green, all you do is press the Panorama icon button and let LUMI work its magic. No weird stretches, glitches, merges and curves – just a clean, crisp shot of the view around you.

Thanks to LUMI ELFI’s premium panoramic technology, you can even experiment with cloning illusions! The difference in quality truly shows when you try to get creative.

Auto Motion Timelapse

The Auto Motion Timelapse feature gives you the ultimate satisfaction in capturing the best sunset, cityscape, or any other breathtaking view. It offers various speed options (4x, 8x, 12x, 20x, 40x), giving you more control to create your desired shot, and enough power to film up to an hour’s worth of footage.

LUMI ELFI’s structured build also allows you to use it as a sturdy mount. Place it on a flat, even surface and you’ll find your shot looking like you used a DSLR and a tripod.

Control All Features in One Grip

360º angle rotation.

Zoom function.

Shutter button.

LUMI ELFI’s built-in control panel allows you to adjust the camera angle and zoom functions, the option to capture a picture or video, and whether to shoot from your front or back camera – all conveniently in one hand.

Unlike most regular selfie sticks that make you retract your arm to fix the camera and then extend back to capture, LUMI ELFI lets you adjust everything with intuitively-placed buttons.

Ergonomic Design

Not too big, not too small – just the right, substantial size. The control panel’s buttons are then all located within a single thumb’s reach, giving you comfortable access to all of LUMI ELFI’s features.

LUMI ELFI’s silicone-covered clips put your anxiety to rest. They keep your camera securely locked and rolling even in the most energetic photographer’s hands.

LUMI ELFI can extend up to 14 in. (360mm), but it is also compact and light enough to keep in your back pocket, fanny pack, or backpack when contracted.

Fast Bluetooth Pairing

Simply download the LUMI ELFI app, available for both iOS and Android, and pair LUMI via Bluetooth to have all features and more available in seconds. A quick tap into the app gives you access to several shooting modes as well as an editing suite that lets you fine-tune your content to your taste.

Plus, instant wireless connection means you can do all that without draining any battery from your actual phone. LUMI ELFI lets you save your battery life for what’s actually important.

Review: iKlip Grip Pro – One Smartphone Mount to Rule them All

If you like to shoot videos or photos with your smartphone, chances are you have at least one accessory like a selfie stick or a tripod. Each of these serves a purpose, but it’s frankly a pain to carry around multiple gadgets. Enter the iKlip Grip Pro, an extremely versatile accessory that not only works as a telescoping selfie stick, but works as a tripod, and as a handheld grip. It holds pretty much any smartphone on the market, with or without a case.

iklip_grip_pro_1

In handheld mode, it works as a grip that keeps your fingers away from the screen, and adds stability to shots. You can then extend the grip’s telescoping rod and use it as a selfie stick, or to get shots over the heads of a crowd. An integrated, detachable Bluetooth shutter lets you operate your iOS or Android camera remotely. The pole extends from 19cm (~7.4 in) to 63 cm (~24.4 in) in length, and locks securely in place at each of its four segments.

iklip_grip_pro_5

At the base of the iKlip Grip Pro are three legs which pop out to form a tripod. This works well for cases where you want to have rock solid shots, and is great when used in conjunction with the remote for shooting videos of yourself. The ball-head mount holds firmly, and offers a wide degree of adjustability, and lets you lock down your smartphone just about at any angle.

iklip_grip_pro_6

The tripod works with both smartphones and with cameras with a 1/4″ UNC thread, weighing up to 35.2 oz. I tested the tripod in tabletop mode with my Sony a6300 and the heaviest lens I own, and the ballhead mount held strong. That said, it doesn’t have a weighted base, so you won’t want to do use this in a high traffic area or in the wind.

iklip_grip_pro_4

You can also extend the tripod using the telescoping mechanism, but it’s pretty top-heavy, so I wouldn’t trust it with anything heavier than a GoPro in this mode.

iklip_grip_pro_8

Overall, the iKlip Grip Pro is an extremely handy tool for any smartphonetographer to keep in their bag of tricks. It replaces at least a couple of items with a single one, is easy to carry and easy to use. You can order the iKlip Grip Pro starting on December 6th for $59.99(USD).

Broomfie?!

selfie_broom_1

The selfie stick is running out of products to merge itself with. The latest host to the selfie stick virus is the broom! The Selfie Broom seems like an absurd concept altogether that you’d see on late night television, but here’s why it may actually be an idea worth considering. The selfie broom isn’t just a random fusion between two products. The broom, for starters, has a stand that allows it to stay vertical. Even as a piece of cleaning equipment, that’s quite a nifty feature because brooms have a tendency to fall all over the place. Adding a further bit of value to that is an attachment that allows the broom’s handles to turn into a grip for your smartphone. This eliminates your need to ever buy a selfie stick (tripod, more like), or a dock for your phone.

Now to be honest, I wouldn’t base my choice of broom solely on how tech savvy it is, but I’m still a little intrigued by the Selfie Broom! Thoughts?

One Selfie Stick to Rule Them All

Ugh. Taking selfies is so much work. If only there was a selfie stick that would do all of the work for you, while you make your duck face. Well apparently there is. The UnREAL Selfie Stick is the selfie stick to end all selfie sticks.

the_ultimate_selfie_stick_1zoom in

This ultimate selfie assistant has an automatically extending arm, fans that will create a breeze so that your hair can flutter in the wind, even lights.

It isn’t a real product yet, thank God. It’s only a concept design by Thinkmodo, to promote the Lifetime show UnREAL. There’s no indication that the company plans to mass produce it. I beg of them, please, don’t ever produce this. But somehow, I think someone will create an even crazier Selfie Stick. And people will buy it.

This Macbook Selfie Stick Is Tough on the Arms

Sure you have your selfie stick to capture awesome shots of you and your friends on that roller-coaster. It’s a shame about that guy who lost his eye when you dropped it, but whatever. Well, now the selfie stick has been upgraded so that you can use your Mac to snap those selfies. And have buff arms too.

macbook_selfie_stick_1zoom in

The MacBook selfie stick is a two-handed selfie stick for lapropos created by artists Moises, John Yuyi and Tom Galle. Sorry selfie lovers, you can’t really buy this device, even though we know you love stupid devices that snap your own pic. This one was created as a social commentary on our “obsession with self and vanity”.

So no, this will never be an Apple supported accessory. If it ever is, that will herald the fall of society and the zombie apocalypse will surely be upon us.

Stikbox Selfie Stick iPhone Case is Selfie AF

Anytime a press release uses the phrase “Clever AF” right there in the text for a product that has the distinct possibility of being annoying AF, I pay attention. I happen to think that if you use a selfie stick in public, we should be able to beat you with it when you are done with your selfie.

selfie-1zoom in

I think the pictures that go along with the Stikbox selfie stick are annoying AF. Just look at the one of the group on the roof with the hipster in front. Beard…check… flannel…check, I bet he is wearing black skinny jeans right outside the frame… hipster status confirmed. The girl behind him is grimacing because his beard probably smells like Bigfoot’s ass. Then there is the dude with the girl in front of the Eiffel Tower, the look on his face says “I’m going to lay pipe AF.”

selfie-2zoom in

Mockery aside, the Stikbox is pretty clever. It is a case for the iPhone that has a 28-inch selfie stick that collapses down and stores on the back of the case. That collapsed stick can also be used to prop the phone up when you are feeling lazy or need to Netflix and Chill AF from across the room.

Now sit back and watch the insipid commercial spot that goes along with the Stikbox. If I had to watch it, so do you:

I’m thinking the Stikbox could also probably be used quite nicely to pummel its users, which would indeed be clever AF.
