Levitating Rotating Planter

Take your plant game up a level with a hovering planter. Floating plants- not just for astronauts anymore. The Lyfe Planter is a levitating 12-sided geodesic molded silicon planter. It sits above a solid rectangular oak base (which has six sides, I counted, twice). It doesn’t sit on the base, it’s above it. High above. Floating above. How does it work? Magnets. (Magnets, how do they work?)

Designed in Sweden, because of course it was, by a group called Flyte, Lyfe has an embedded electromagnetic coil in the oak base. A magnet in the bottom of the planter keeps it afloat. But wait, there’s more. No longer does the back side of your plants need to suffer from a lack of light and hurt feelings because nobody ever sees that side. Problem solved- this thing also rotates. Well the top planter part does anyway, the base stays… planted.

The planter is not particularly large at around 4″ diameter but look how freakin’ cool it looks when you get a few of them lined up. Imagine sitting in a circular room completely surrounded by floating plants, doing some weird yoga pose for your Instagram account. Exhale. You do need to plug each one in, so maybe get the surge protector ready. We’re living in the golden age of levitation my friends. It’s the astronaut ice cream of the botany world.

Poles can get cold

Not talking about the north and south poles! I’m talking about the metal poles in buses and subways. I cringe at the idea of sitting on a toilet in the winter, imagine having to hold on to a stainless steel pole for support during a subway ride! *shudder*

Anyhow, the Latch is here to save you the trouble of having to deal with the fact that ‘winter’s coming’. The Latch is just a silicone sleeve that fits over the pole. Silicone feels great to touch, and also improves one’s grip. Its insulating properties make sure you never have to deal directly with cold metal. It also comes with a hooping point, to hang your bags, umbrellas, and other paraphernalia, because holding onto a pole in public transport can sometimes require both hands!

Stick-Lets Branch Connectors Make Fort Building A Breeze

These have been on the market for a couple of years, but news tends to go in cycles and here we are discussing them again. The Stick-Lets are a set of silicone connectors that are used to, well, connect branches together in an effort to create a self-standing structure. They come in different shapes, allowing you to build your treehouse/fort with whatever loose sticks or branches you find. You can stretch them over and over, and use them and reuse them almost indefinitely. It’s a fun activity to do with your kids, or by yourself if you fancy the outdoors a lot.
