These days, the first thing a lot of people do the moment they step off the plane is buy a local SIM card. It’s the practical thing to do, seeing as the rates of local providers are better than the often ridiculous global roaming charges of your original home network – especially if you plan to make calls or send messages to local numbers.
Swapping SIMs every so often isn’t the most convenient thing to do though, especially if you travel a lot. Plus if you don’t have some sort of container or compartment for it, then you might end up misplacing or worse, losing your SIM in the process.
