Star Wars Speeder Bike Motorcycle

Check out this cool custom Return of the Jedi speeder bike motorcycle built by Vintage Works. You won’t see a cooler version anywhere outside of Endor.

The handlebars don’t just steer the bike, but they control the flaps in the front. They went the extra mile and even gave this wheeled speeder bike the appropriate sound effects just to be extra awesome.

Why you would ride this without a Biker Scout uniform I have no idea, but the guy in the test drive video just doesn’t care. He needs to watch out for trees and Jedi who will cut the front end off your bike and send you crashing. And also Ewok traps.

This Return of the Jedi Speeder Bike Started out as a Segway

If you aren’t afraid of Ewoks trying to trip you up, you too can wear your Scout Trooper armor and ride on this cool real world speeder bike.

This mod was added to a Segway personal mobility device by Youtuber Rodger Cleye. I bet he was excited about it. It was probably more than he could Endor. Get it? Really, it actually looks pretty awesome.

Can you imagine the speeder bike chase scenes you could film with these things? Me either. I don’t have all day to watch a bunch of Segway Speeder Bikes chase each other at 5 mph. I’d rather just see some Ewoks attack them and tear stuff apart with their furry little hands.

It’s a pretty fun mod though. I’m just not sure you can still call it a speeder bike.

DIY Star Wars Rey’s Speeder Bike Quadcopter is No Scrapheap

Makers have proven that quadcopters and Star Wars go well together. So much so that even Disney is starting to cash in. Here’s another great example of this winning combination, courtesy of Michal Miszta aka The Model Maker.

The custom made quadcopter measures about 13″x 9″x 5″ and weighs around 2lb (740g). Michal 3D printed, finished and painted the speeder’s body as well as the quadcopter’s arms. He reinforced the body with fiberglass cloth and resin to help it survive crashes. The Rey figurine, on the other hand, is made from styrofoam, modeling clay, and bits of cloth, all of which Michal also painted and weathered.

As you can see the quadcopter proved to be too heavy for the motors that Michal installed, so he’s planning to upgrade to a much stronger one. Check out his website for the build log, 3D files and parts list.

DIY Speeder Bike Rocker: Back and Forth of the Jedi

The last time we featured Instructables Tez_Gelmir was for the portable LEGO building station he made for his son. This time it’s for a kickass speeder bike rocker that he made for his 1-year old daughter.

Tez_Gelmir made the rocking speeder bike out of plwyood, steel tubing and a variety of 3D printed parts, including the hull. He also installed a used DC motor to make the rocker’s power turbine spin, and added an LED and sound effects to the  blaster.

Safety is the point of this ride. Hover to Instructables for Tez_Gelmir’s build log.

DIY Star Wars Speeder Bike Quadcopter: The Merch Side of the Force

We’ve seen how you can make TIE Interceptor and Millenium Falcon remote-controlled multicopters. Adam Woodworth also made a Star Wars-themed quadcopter, but instead of building its body from scratch he modified a speeder bike action figure.

Adam used a 12″ Star Wars Power of the Force Imperial Speeder Bike as his quadcopter’s body because it’s light and easy to take apart yet fairly durable. He also made the toy about 185g lighter by replacing the biker scout’s body with a skeleton made of pipe cleaners, carbon tubes and old Nerf darts.

When he wants to fly the quadcopter from its perspective, he swaps the biker scout’s head with a combo camera and transmitter that he mounted on a small styrofoam ball. He’s not supposed to see the trooper’s head from that view anyway.

I wouldn’t be surprised if officially-licensed Star Wars quadcopters come out. This looks like a lot of fun to play with. Head to Make: for more on Adam’s toy.

Power Wheels Star Wars Speeder Bike: Awesomendor!

I don’t know about you, but I have always wanted to have my own Speeder Bike from the Endor forest in Return of the Jedi. I never thought to make one using Power Wheels. Well, Instructables member miketherdaintx has done just that. He has built a 74-Z speeder bike using a Power Wheels toy car.

It may not go very fast, but it looks pretty awesome. Any kid would love this. If you want to build one for yourself, you can check out all of the photos and instructions at the link above.

Too bad an adult would totally destroy this. That wouldn’t keep me from riding it through. It just would be the slowest Speeder chase ever.

Star Wars Speeder Bikes – Real Life Version

attachment

A company named Aerofex is trying to come up with something everyone’s been waiting for since the 1980′s, especially Return of the Jedi and later on Back to the Future – Make hover technology something that we can use outside the movies, for actual cool stuff.

Hopefully, their attempt at something ...
