The Satechi Slim Dock sits perfectly on your Apple iMac’s base, giving you extra storage and ports

It’s also exactly the same size as the Magic Keyboard, allowing you to stack the two together, should you choose!

Designed to look as sleek as something Apple itself would release (it’s an art that Satechi has wonderfully perfected), the Slim Dock upgrades your 24″ M1 iMac with extra ports and even extended SSD storage. The Slim Dock comes with the same machined aluminum outer as the iMac itself and is available in the default silver as well the anodized blue to match your blue iMac. Rest it on your iMac’s base and it looks almost like a part of the machine. Once plugged in, it gives your sleek iMac the two things it lacks – a whole host of ports, and expandable storage!

Designer: Satechi

If Apple’s proved one thing, it’s that it’s really good at anticipating the needs of its users – but there’s a caveat. Sometimes it conveniently ignores those needs to build machines that are slim, beautiful, and premium. That’s where Satechi comes in, with its bespoke accessories that fill in the gaps that the design team at Apple rather obviously left. Last year, they debuted the USB-C clamp hub, a multiport hub that clamped to the base of the iMac display, giving you important front-facing ports. The Slim Dock, however, takes things a step ahead, with more ports, faster connections, and even space for SSDs in a slick form that integrates into your iMac’s design, instead of those ugly external hard drives that take away from the iMac’s clean aesthetic.

The Slim Dock features a 10 Gbps USB-C data port, 10 Gbps USB-A data port, 2 x USB-A 2.0 ports, micro/SD card reader slots, and a tool-free NVMe SSD enclosure that you can easily access without needing to call a technician. It’s worth noting that the USB ports are data ports and don’t support charging… although the remaining USB-C ports on the back of the iMac are still always up for grabs if you want to hook up a MagSafe charger or any other wireless charging station.

What’s definitely one of the more lesser-appreciated remarkable things about the Satechi Slim Dock is the fact that it’s designed to be exactly the same size as Apple’s Magic Keyboard! It’s the kind of attention to detail that Steve Jobs cultivated in Apple’s team, and the fact that Satechi consciously made this decision too just shows the incredible synergy between the two companies and their hardware!

Satechi’s USB-C Slim Dock for the 24″ iMac starts at $149.99, and ships with a 1-year warranty.

Sleek USB-C hubs to perfectly upgrade your WFH setup’s productivity

We spend most of our day working on laptops and PCs, and maintaining a consistently high level of productivity and efficiency is extremely integral for our work routines. Hence, adopting and making use of nifty gadgets that amp up our productivity can be quite helpful. A USB-C Hub is one such accessory that promises to function as the ultimate sidekick to your laptop or any other monitor setup of choice! However, hubs aren’t what they used to be! Designers have elevated and innovated hubs to a whole new level altogether. From a LED USB Christmas tree to a sleek iPad USB-C hub featuring six different media ports– we have curated a whole collection of unique, innovative, and highly functional designs that are a far cry from the traditional hubs we’d grown so accustomed to. These handy tech gadgets are a game-changer for our work-from-home productivity!

1. The Save USB SSD Hub

Industrial designer Cheon Ryong Choi has the simplest and smart solution in the form of the Save USB SSD Hub. The hybrid accessory slots in most M.2 SSD in the given slot while leaving enough room for a USB hub with USB-C-type, MagSafe connecter, and two USB ports. That’s enough meat to satiate geeky users’ requirements for a port-starved laptop. Drawing inspiration presumably from the design philosophy of Nothing, the hybrid hard drive gets a transparent back panel that exposes all the hardware components which personally I find too cool.

2. HyperDrive 6-in-1 USB-C Hub for iMac 24”

HyperDrive 6-in-1 USB-C Hub for iMac 24” is the savior with five front-facing ports for the easiest access to memory cards, USB storage, and charging of gadgets. It even has a 4K monitor compatible HDMI port on the back to keep away the thick cords from view. Keeping up with the modern data transfer requirements the accessory has 3 USB (two USB-C and one USB-A) ports capable of 10Gbps transfer speed. For added advantage, the hub has a universally compatible microSD UHS-I reader and SD UHS-I card slot. Charging your gadgets is also going to be a breeze with 7.5W speed compatibility from the USB-A port.

3. The ‘PSB Xmas Tree’

The ‘PSB Xmas Tree’, as it’s labeled on Github, is a clever little PCB hack that plugs into your computer’s USB port and lights up like a tiny decorated tree. It’s incredibly DIY, but that’s precisely what I love so much about this tiny gizmo – the fact that it has this handmade personal touch! The tree features a custom fabricated PCB with concentric circles that pop out to give the ‘tree’ its conical shape. These circular boards are connected via LEDs, that get supplied with power from your laptop’s USB port.

4. The HyperDrive GEN2 USB-C docking station

The HyperDrive GEN2 USB-C docking station transforms a USB port on any device into a high-powered docking station with 18 ports. Two HDMI 4K60Hz, a VGA, two USB-A 10 Gbps, a USB-C 10 GBPS, an Ethernet, a UHS-II MicroSD/SD, and more are included. A sleek minimal aesthetic is augmented further by the fact, that the device has two times the speed and power of any first-generation hub.

5. HyperDrive

Compact enough to fit in your palm, HyperDrive is small but mighty. Equipped with a 4K60Hz HDMI port, USB-C 5Gbps 60W Power Delivery port, MicroSD UHS-I port, SD UHS-I port, USB-A 5Gbps port, and a 3.5mm Audio Jack, HyperDrive can handle any of your cables at any time. While you’re all plugged in and working, the built-in shortcut key allows you to “play, pause, fast-forward or rewind your favorite songs, videos, or podcasts without interrupting your workflow.”

6. The Hubble USB-C Hub and Case

The Hubble USB-C hub and case is a side-mounted hub that provides you with all the ports you could need. It consists of two USB-C ports, a USB-A port, an SD and microSD card reader, and an audio jack. The integrated case keeps your iPad upright while you use it, while a magnetic closure ensures that your iPad is stored safely inside. The hub even has a magnetic spot to charge your Apple pencil!

7. The Satechi USB-C clamp hub

At a price of $54.99 (which shouldn’t seem much if you already shelled out the cash for an M1 iMac), Satechi’s USB-C clamp hub puts all the essential ports at your fingertips. It plugs into one of the USB-C ports at the back and grips onto the iMac using a rotating clamp. The hub comes with 3 USB-A ports, 2 card readers, and one USB-C port on the front, and has data transfer speeds of up to 5Gb/s for the USB ports and 104Mb/s for the card readers.

8. HUB-OX

Designed to be portable and compact, HUB–OX initially comes as a lightweight, palm-sized USB-C hub, which splits into two halves, both equipped with plenty of charging slots, HDMI connections, and ethernet ports. HUB–OX is compatible with MacBook Pro models that have four USB-C ports, generally any MacBook Pro from 2016 or any of its succeeding generations. When HUB–OX is split in two, users can plug the USB-C chargers into all four of their MacBook Pro’s ports, lifting their laptops to an angle of 7.7° to keep them charged and at eye level for the rest of the day. Working at our laptops for long periods of time often makes us want to crane our necks and spines to meet our screens. The small hoist HUB–OX gives our MacBook Pros is just enough to keep our necks straight and spines against our chairs.

9. The Satechi Stand & Hub

The silver lining with the Satechi Stand & Hub for Mac mini with SSD enclosure is the matching design and silver finish – reminiscent of the 2020 M1 Mac mini. However, it is sized exactly like the Mac mini and looks a natural extension for Apple’s smallest desktop computer. This useful accessory for your Apple ecosystem increases the Mac mini’s storage without the need to depend on an external hard drive courtesy of the M.2 SATA SSD enclosure. Plug it into the USB-C port, and you get additional ports in one simplified hub. This accessory has three USB-C 3.0 ports (5Gbps), USB-C data port (5Gbps), SD and microSD card readers (104Mbps), and a 3.5mm headphone jack too.

10. The USB-C iPhone

Meet the world’s only USB-C iPhone (that we know of), hacked together by Ken Pillonel, a master’s degree student in robotics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The USB-C iPhone has been on Ken’s mind for a while. In fact, he embarked on this journey 5 months ago with a video explaining how he planned on modifying an existing iPhone, and even demonstrating a work-in-progress. Now, Ken’s work is pretty much complete as he debuted his first working prototype of the iPhone USB-C. The modified iPhone doesn’t just sport a USB-C for kicks… the port actually works, and lets you charge your phone as well as transfer data.

This sleek iPad USB-C hub features six different media ports + a shortcut key for uninterrupted workflow!

HyperDrive is the world’s first-ever form-fitting USB-C hub with six different media ports and a media shortcut key.

USB-C media ports are designed to get the sh*t done that our computers can’t. Whether you use them for media storage, to transfer files, adapt to external hardware, or all of the above–media ports can do it all. They can do so much, we sometimes forget their limitations. While most USB-C drives on the market host around four media ports, a new USB-C drive from Hyper called HyperDrive features six media ports in addition to a media shortcut key. In a few words, for HyperDrive, the limit does not exist.

Included in all of this are crystal clear video and content displays thanks to HyperDrive’s 4K60Hz HDMI port that allows for double the normal refresh rate. Then, when you’d like to transfer files from one device to HyperDrive, or vice versa, its UHS-I to MicroSD/SD slots makes the process lightning fast, moving as quickly as 104MB/s. HyperDrive also grips tightly to your external device with a Magnetic Grip that links HyperDrive with the side of your USB-C iPad Pro, Air, or mini.

Magnetic grips allow HyperDrive to securely attach to any external device.

With its media shortcut key, HyperDrive allows you to work and listen to music without interruption.

With its 4K 60Hz HDMI connection port, HyperDrive transfers images and video files with the same quality they came with.

These USB-C hubs perfectly complement your laptop, giving your setup the performance boost it needs!

The HybridDrive  is a lot like if your external hard drive and your USB hub had a love-child. Think of it as the one, true, all-powerful accessory to your MacBook or your iPad Pro, or even your Android phone. Armed with a two-piece design that can plug into each other, the HybridDrive is like the Yin and the Yang of computing accessories… the Yin being extra ports, and the Yang being extra storage. Compatible with most USB-C devices, the HybridDrive offsets your need for multiple hubs, dongles, and drives. With a multiport on one end, and an SSD on another, and a USB-C interface connecting the two, the HybridDrive bridges the gap between your portable devices (laptop/tablet/phone) and your desktop – in the sense that it gives you extra ports and expandable storage… something most desktops have in common.

This durable stand has multiple height adjustable angles and forward and backward position adjusting liberty for laptops or even tablet – tested for over 20,000 uses. This adjustability gives you the ability to orient the laptop/tablet screen position in more ways than not. Adding to the inherent feature of keeping the device sturdy in place without any lateral movement and the intuitively positioned ventilation holes, Maotoam’s offering has something more! The world’s first ergonomic laptop stand with an integrated 13-in-1 USB-C hub, making it a one-stop solution for connectivity to all your gadgets. As the name implies, it has 13 ports to cover all modern-day devices.

The designers of DGRule describe it as an “invisible hub” and I guess we can see why. The DGRule promises to be a convenient alternative to the limited Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports since they aren’t always compatible with all devices. Subtle, discreet, and far from bulky, DGRule snaps onto both sides of the MacBook Pro. The cushion pad ensures it stays glued onto the laptop, no matter which position you work in. Available in Space Gray or Silver, it camouflages with your laptop, appearing to be a natural extension of it. Created from CNC aluminum, this allows the hub to comfortably merge with the MacBook Pro. However the resilient aluminum has other purposes as well, it lends its durability to the hub making it sturdy and reliable.

It’s ironic that we pick an iPad for its compactness, portability, and is a minimal device; and yet we look for attachments that can help us make it more conventional (in terms of functionality) as a laptop or desktop. If this sentiment resonates with you, then you have to take a look at the BoltHub – a device that is the world’s first truly invisible USB-C hub – and specifically designed for the iPad. The hub fits flush to the bottom of your iPad and allows you to connect it to 4K HDMI, 3.5mm headphones, Micro/SD card readers, and USB-C. While you are connected to your gear, the hub charges your iPad efficiently and quickly. The L-shaped device matches the iPad Pro in terms of color and texture.

Meet the X-Kit from UGREEN… a slim, portable Hub-Stand that folds down to become no smaller or slimmer than a selfie-stick. With its innovative X-shaped folding design, the X-Kit condenses its functionality into a form that’s easy to carry along with your laptop anywhere you go. Designed with two halves that separate when pulled apart, the X-Kit transforms from a slim, baton-shaped form into a broad platform to dock your Mac or Windows laptop on in mere seconds, with an angling mechanism that can be set at 4 different positions to give you the right angle you need to minimize fatigue… something that most WFH setups fail to achieve.

The SuperHub isn’t so much a multi-port device as it is a way to multitask. Designed around the emerging culture of working from cafés, restaurants, or co-working spaces, the hub replaces the clunky power adapter that you use to charge your laptop with a slick, well-designed brick that takes care of all possible power needs. Armed with an AC power input on one end, and two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and a 4K HDMI port on the other , the SuperHub take ownership of both power as well as data delivery. You can connect multiple devices, including your laptop, to the SuperHub, charging them simultaneously, while also letting you plug an external display in to broadcast your phone, tablet, or laptop’s screen on it.

Satechi’s cool new USB Hub gives you front-access to all the important ports on your 2021 Apple iMac

The iMac’s 11mm thick design, unfortunately, means it isn’t really port-friendly (even the LAN port had to be relocated to the charging brick), although Satechi has a solution. The newly debuted USB-C clamp hub for the 2021 M1 iMac puts 6 different ports right where you need them. From USB hubs to even card readers, Satechi’s nifty little multiport hub has it all, and it conveniently blends right into the iMac’s form factor with a design language that matches the all-in-one computer perfectly!

This tiny cubic USB-C hub doubles as a laptop stand, effectively cooling and charging your MacBook Pro!

When we’re on a roll at work or on our own creative projects, we depend on our laptops to bring us to the finish line, or at least to lunch. That means the WiFi connection has to be consistent, the battery better last, and we gotta have the best seat in the coffee shop (next to the outlets). Jimlo Z Studio recently debuted their pocket-sized, eight-in-one USB-C Hub and MacBook Stand, HUB–OX, that gives us the power boost we need to meet our deadlines before lunch.

Designed to be portable and compact, HUB–OX initially comes as a lightweight, palm-sized USB-C hub, which splits into two halves, both equipped with plenty of charging slots, HDMI connections, and ethernet ports. Working at our laptops for long periods of time often makes us want to crane our necks and spines to meet our screens. The small hoist HUB–OX gives our MacBook Pros is just enough to keep our necks straight and spines against our chairs. In addition to helping our posture while working, the built-in laptop stand allows for better heat dissipation from our laptops’ heat sinks, keeping our laptops cool and their fans low.

Equipped with 100W of power and an HDMI port that can project 4K pictures at 30Hz, HUB–OX makes an ideal computer accessory for business projects and extended work periods. Then, when you feel like working at that cafe without any WiFi, HUB–OX has an RJ45 ethernet port with internet speeds ranging from 10 to 1,000Mbps. As soon as the workday is done and all that’s left to do is finish your cup of coffee, HUB–OX clicks back into its initial box form with magnetic snapping, so you can hit your lunch break.

Meet the Maotoam, an ergonomic laptop stand that comes with premium design aesthetics that promise ergonomic flexibility of working comfortably all day long. In a way, the accessory creates a hassle-free working environment for peak focus. The durable stand has multiple height adjustable angles and forward and backward position adjusting liberty for laptop or even tablet – tested for over 20,000 uses. As the name implies, it has 13 ports to cover all modern-day devices.

Designed to quite literally put power at your fingertips (maybe not THAT literally), Zendure’s SuperHub basically solves the problem of having multiple devices to charge and just one power outlet. Designed as a power-brick but with multiple ports, the SuperHub lets you use one outlet to route power to all your devices, while at the same time, allowing you to transfer data between them… serving the role of a USB hub along with a power-delivery system. Armed with an AC power input on one end, and two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and a 4K HDMI port on the other, the SuperHub takes ownership of both power as well as data delivery.

Designed to overcome the years of portless living we’ve been doing as a species, the PHD65 is an all-in-one hub that you can just slip into your laptop bag and carry around. When plugged in, the PHD65 is as versatile as it is small. The hub comes with a USB-C out that plugs into your laptop’s Type-C port, giving you a USB 3.0 port, a Type-C port, and an HDMI port, all in one. What’s even better is that the PHD65 has its own AC input too, so while you have the hub plugged into your laptop, it can charge your machine too. Whether you use the PHD65 as a Hub or AC power adapter or both, is up to you. You can plug pen drives in, smartphones in, external displays, projectors, even Nintendo Switch handsets, making the PHD65 one versatile cookie.

Now here’s an external Numpad with some real purpose. Rather than just being your run-of-the-mill 21 key number pad, Voamoko’s Type-C Numeric Keypad’s design shows that it really knows and understands its end-user. The portable, external number pad plugs into your laptop or desktop, turning into a powerhouse of functionality. It packs extra USB ports on its rim to function as an accessible USB hub you can plug your pen drives into, or even charge your phone with. Moreover, it comes with a few extra keys that let you instantly trigger functions like searching (useful for those incredibly long documents and spreadsheets), as well as apps like the calculator, to make number-crunching faster and more convenient.

UGREEN’s combination of a laptop stand and a multiport hub may just be the peanut-butter-and-jelly equivalent of the tech world – it just seems like a match made in heaven. Meet the X-Kit from UGREEN… a slim, portable Hub-Stand that folds down to become no smaller or slimmer than a selfie-stick. With its innovated X-shaped folding design, the X-Kit condenses its functionality into a form that’s easy to carry along with your laptop anywhere you go. The Braun MP01 concept addresses the issue of the diminishing number of connection ports that are found on new laptops; the dongle brings all of these missing ports into one compact device, and with a design style like this one, it’s not something you’ll complain about. The device features an asymmetrical design where an angular edge gently flows into a soft curve. Unnecessary detailing isn’t present on the device, instead, it carries a clean aesthetic with minimal interruptions in the casing. The large glass cover not only looks the part but also hints at MP01’s secondary feature… an external SSD. Could this be the perfect computer accessory?!

Designed in two parts, a transmitter, and a receiver, MOKiN lets you connect a device to a display without running a clunky, ugly, entangled cable between the two. The transmitter and receiver let you extend your screen wirelessly and seamlessly, offering high-definition images with zero latency. It’s basically an HDMI cable without the cable… or even the HDMI because the MOKiN’s transmitter runs on a USB-C port! This means you can easily connect your laptop, tablet, or smartphone to an external display or a projector in a jiffy without worrying about dongles and such. To make things better, the transmitter unit even has its own USB hub, letting you plug pen-drives or SD cards into it and access it right through your device. The transmitter and receiver communicate using low-latency WiFi, and can easily work over distances as long as 10 meters, beaming 1080p content without any problems.

This unique AC charger for your laptop also charges your phone, transfers data and connects your HDMI devices

It all started with a Manila envelope. The race for sleekness began when Steve Jobs walked onto stage with a laptop inside an envelope. The famous MacBook Air put laptops on an unshakeable path to razor-slimness and if you’re ever wondering why your new laptop doesn’t have a LAN port, or an HDMI port, or even a USB port, blame that Manila envelope.

You can plug pen-drives in, smartphones in, external displays, projectors, even Nintendo Switch handsets, making the PHD65 one versatile cookie.

With the PHD65, that Manila envelope’s limitations don’t really bother you anymore. The portable hub lets you plug traditional pen drives in, or even an external display. You can use the PHD65 with your laptop, iPad Pro, or even with a Nintendo Switch, giving you a hub that helps unleash your gadget’s full potential. Besides, with its 65W AC input, you can use the PHD65 as a substitute for your laptop’s charger, and even use it to charge your smartphone or plug in a wireless dock for your watch or AirPods… allowing you to quite literally say that you have a PHD in charging!
