Live Action First Person Shooter 2: Dead Skype

Back in August, Realm Pictures shared a live action zombie game where strangers on Chatroulette, Omegle and Skype controlled the hero while viewing the adventure from his perspective. The company is back with an even more wicked horror adventure, and this time it’s set in space.

I’m not going to spoil anything, only that there’s salty language from the players:

How freakin’ cool was that? Here’s how Realm Pictures pulled it off:

The game’s third level is actually an entire game on its own. Realm Pictures is going big and is raising funds to create a multi-level and persistent world, with more characters and a more fleshed out story. Donors will have a say in the production of this new game. Best of all, when the game is finished, Realm Pictures won’t play with strangers online anymore. Instead, they’ll randomly pick 50 people from their donors to play. You get one ticket for every £1 (~$2 USD) you donate, which is a steal for such a new experience.

With the impending wave of virtual reality systems I wouldn’t be surprised if this genre explodes within a couple of years.

Cats vs. Zombies Should be a Show

Our cohorts over at The Awesomer have found one of the cutest cat flicks to ever grace the internet. In this video, you have a couple of kitties that are dressed up in costumes. As they peer through their kitty binoculars, they notice a cute, helpless kitten on top of a storage building.

The rub is that a horde of hungry zombies are at the bottom of the storage building looking to eat that kitten. The two adult cats spring into action and use automatic weapons and massive explosions to kill the walkers.

This is sort of like The Walking Dead with cats, and is worth a few minutes of your day to check out. Beware the zombie kitten – it will consume all. I wonder if a laser pointer would distract a zombie kitty.

The Swiss Army Machete Zombie Defense Multi-Tool

Will you be prepared when a virus is unleashed that turns us all into undead zombies? Better get yourself a weapon that will help you stay alive. Something like the the Swiss Army Machete, a zombie defense multi-tool that has it all.

swiss_zombie_knife_1zoom in

It was made by Instructables member seamster, who is totally ready for a zombie apocalypse. No matter where he goes, he’ll be prepared to fight the undead with this massive custom Swiss Army-type knife. It has a machete, an adjustable wrench, a pipe wrench, an auger, and a hatchet. The case is 31.5″ long, and the machete blade is 20″ long. This tool may not fit in his pocket, but he can still have it is his bug out duffel bag.

I want seamster on my side when the SHTF.

Tinder on a Rope: Swipe Right for Fire

When the zombie apocalypse comes, you need to have a few things in your bug-out bag to be ready. You need a way to get clean drinking water, a way to start fire, and food. Fire is one of the more important because with it you can both cook food and get clean water.

One of those spark tool thingies will get your fire going, but other than a hot spark, you also need something that will burn. This is where you need the Tinder on a Rope. It’s exactly what it sounds like, unless you think it’s something for hooking up with girls, then it’s nothing like it sounds.

This is a chunk of some sort of cultivated resin-impregnated wood (I said both wood and impregnate hehehe) that burns like crazy. Combine this with your fire striker thingy and boom, you have fire. Get your own Tinder on a rope for $4.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

Live Action First-Person Shooter Controlled via Chat: Chat of Duty

Realm Pictures created the 21st century equivalent of text-based games: a chat-based game. The film studio set up a live action zombie roleplaying game in their office and then had people on Chatroulette, Omegle and Skype control the hero in first-person.

Here’s how it went down (minus the random penis sightings I assume). Note that there’s some salty language in the video.

What’s amazing about this is that Realm Pictures went to great lengths make the livestream look and feel like a video game. Pretty much everything in the video happened live, including the sound effects and the HUD and other visual cues. Check out the behind-the-scenes for more:

Good job Realm Pictures! Now do Portal.

Big Buck HD Wild Has Zombie Deer and Undead Rednecks

I’m not much of a hunter because I don’t like shooting things in real life that are living and breathing. I do like games that let me shoot things though. One of those games that I enjoy playing when I am at the theater waiting for my movie to start is the arcade version of Big Buck Hunter.

A new version of that game is coming called Big Buck HD Wild and it has zombies. The zombies and zombie deer turn up in the game mode called In Case of Zombies: Doe of the Dead.

In addition to zombie deer, it has zombie rednecks too. You can even blast some zombie raccoons and chickens. I’ll certainly be on the lookout for this game.

Zombie On Board Decals

Forget your stick figure families and Baby on Board signs. FanWraps‘ Zombie on Board decals are way cooler. I’m not sure if this would help you get in the carpool lane, but at the very least it might scare some kids in another vehicle.

Just put these zombie decals on your vehicle and you are guaranteed to scare someone. Some of our less bright fellow motorists might actually believe that you have a zombie in your car. They come in Sick Suzy and Gory Gary versions for $29.99 (USD) each.

These will help you help your vehicle to stand out on the road. They should have a bit of blood swiped on the window though.
