Astronaut and Lunar Lander Kids’ Costumes Win Halloween

Between the endless candy, the artful pumpkin carving, the creepy music, the decorations, and the costumes, Halloween is the best of the holidays. There’s just so much more creativity in Halloween than most other holidays, especially when it comes to the costumes.

For Halloween 2019, one family created an awesome pair of costumes for their two young daughters – an astronaut, along with lunar lander module.

Little Charlie and Ellie’s parents did a fantastic job here, with the older of the two girls portraying the Apollo Lunar Module, and the younger of them dressed as an Apollo astronaut. The only thing they’re missing is a rug that looks like the moon’s surface for them to roll out in front of each house as they ask for candy.

Check out more of this amazingly cute duo in the video clip below, and then the entire costume and build gallery up on Imgur.

This isn’t the first time these kids have had awesome Halloween costumes. In 2017, there was the squid, and in 2018, they had the horseshoe crab and an adorable traffic cone.

Transportation design for asteroid exploration!

We’re still somewhere in the 21st century, but man has broken the shackles of being bound to Earth. We’re now an intergalactic species, and we’ve got equipment and vehicles to travel long distances in space and explore cosmic entities beyond Mars… the asteroids. Meet the MMU, or the Manned Maneuvering Unit, a concept created by Bruno Gauthier LeBlanc and Dave Arredondo. Named the Boomerang, for its unique boomerang shape, and also probably because it lets you travel to a certain point in space and back, this MMU seats one person, exposing just the arms and legs while the rest of the body fits inside the boomerang-shaped spacecraft. Controls on the front allow you to operate thrusters at the back that let you go darting through space, exploring parts of the solar system at will! I wonder how this thing would dock or land though…

Floating Astronaut Light: I Want My MTV

Who says your desk lamp has to be boring? You could get an old school brass lamp that says “I’m lame,” or you could get this lamp that has a moon base and a floating astronaut that glows. The design reminds me of the old MTV segues back when the network was about music.

The astronaut is attached to a flexible metal arm that allows you to position the glowing space traveler wherever you want it. Since it just runs on 3 AAA batteries, it doesn’t appear to glow very brightly, but it still looks awesome.

While it might not be good for people actually trying to work, the muted glow will be perfect for anyone trying to decorate a kids room with a soft light to keep the monsters at bay. ThinkGeek will sell you an Astronaut Light for $29.99.
