Great Britain Recreated in Minecraft: Brickish Isles
A few months ago, we found out about the official Minecraft replica of Denmark. It turns out that there’s one for Great Britain too. Joseph Braybrook made GB Minecraft 2 late last year when he was still an intern at the Ordnance Survey. Now employed at the mapping authority, Joseph recently updated the map to make it more detailed.
The map “consists of more than 83 billion blocks representing over 220,000 square kilometres of mainland Great Britain and surrounding islands.” Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are not in the map because they’re outside of the Ordnance Survey’s coverage. According to the BBC, the map “is so detailed that people should be able to find their own house on it.” The video below shows the map’s rendition of Snowdonia, a part of Wales.
Dig to the Ordnance Survey’s website to download the map. Better prepare some tea though – it’s a bloody 23GB download.
