When not in use, it will look like a cool desk toy sitting in your tool shop, but just extend it and it will serve as a real hammer too. It measures just 4.7 inches when not extended and 6.1 inches long when extended. It’s perfect for simple jobs around the house. It is made of aluminum for the head and grip, striped stainless steel for the driving face, and carbon steel for the extendable handle.

Mjölnir Tool Kit Concept: Multi-Thor

Geek merch designer Dave Delisle recently came up with a practical collectible based on Thor’s hammer. The concept is for a kit that looks like Mjölnir but has an actual hammer and other common tools.

Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall charge $1500 for a blown gasket.

DIY Electromagnetic Mjölnir Prank: Magnethor

Thor’s hammer Mjölnir is famous for its enchantment that allows only the bravest and kindest to wield it and its lethal power. YouTuber Allen Pan aka Sufficiently Advanced put a high tech spin on the picky hammer with the help of science. He proved to be more like Loki, yet was still able to wield Mjölnir.

Allen made a battery-powered electromagnet using a microwave’s transformer and stuffed it inside a toy Mjölnir. Then he added two things. First is a touch sensor that turns the electromagnet on whenever someone touches the handle. Second is a fingerprint scanner, so that he could turn the magnet off if he scanned his print on it. All he needed was a magnetic surface and he could have some fun with his neighbors.

That last dude got a free pass to Asgard.

DIY Mini Mjölnir Replica: Thor Odadson

Thor’s hammer was forged out of a star by dwarven blacksmiths. This child-size replica was crafted from the heart by a loving dad. Redditor Crux1836 says his son asked him for a “real Thor hammer” for his 4th birthday. Request granted.

Crux1836 says he forged the head out of an old square metal tube, while the handle appears to be made of a broom handle with shoelaces and strips of leather wrapped around it.

A handful of Redditors are irked that Crux1836 even mentioned that he “fired up the forge”, partly because he didn’t show a number of steps of said forging and partly because they felt it was an unnecessary process. But assuming Crux1836 did make this, I think it’s still notable because he made it with his own hands. In terms of karmawhoring there are worse things to brag about than going the extra mile for your child.

Mjölnir Hammer Replica: Small, But Mighty

If you prefer your Norse legends more traditional than Marvel went with Thor in The Avengers, this is the Mjolnir for you. This Hammer of Legend looks nothing like the hammer Thor wielded on the big screen. In fact, this hammer looks rather small and not nearly as impressive.

It actually looks like what Thor might choose if he were doing some light repair work around the castle. The head of the hammer is forged from a solid piece of metal. The wooden shaft of the hammer is hand-stained and has brass rivets.

The handle even has a contoured, suede wrapped grip. The hammer also comes with a mounting plate to hang it on the wall. You are worthy enough to wield your own Mjölnir if you can scratch up $149.99(USD) and send it to ThinkGeek.

Thor’s Mjölnir Purse: Strong Enough for a Man, but Made for a Woman

Whoever the woman is who holds this purse, shall possess the power of Thor. And with it, the power of lipstick, mascara, and everything but the kitchen sink. Since Thor recently became a woman in the comic book, this Mjölnir purse seems particularly appropriate.

I’m not sure that Lady Thor would carry this into battle, but it makes a good fashion accessory. This Mjölnir hammer is a creation by Meryle Idzerda of Geek Retroactive. She made it by wrapping a cigar box with lambskin leather with a gunmetal finish.

It looks pretty good, and it can be yours for $250(USD) over on Etsy. If anyone tries to steal it, it’s going to hurt getting hit over the head with this thing.

M48 Tactical Survival Series: Perfect for Zombie Killin’

I think The Walking Dead’s Michonne has the right idea with her katana sword. It never runs out of ammo and can kill the undead with ease. The only downside to having a sword is that when you inevitably run up against evil humans bent on pillaging what you have, you have the literal knife at a gunfight. I think I’d like both a sword and a gun personally.

m48-1zoom in

Actually, as I would cut myself on a sword, I’d rather have something easier to wield by the uninitiated like this M48 Tactical Survival Series 2.0 hammer or Kama. The hammer almost looks innocent enough; it’s just a hammer other than the big sharp skull-puncturing spike on the end. It can hammer up wood barricades by day and poke zombie brains at night. I like it!

There is nothing innocent looking about the Kama version with its wicked curved blade. Both of these are made from 2Cr13 stainless steel and come with a nylon sheath. You can get either one for $39.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

Hammer No Hurt ‘em

So the point of this Hammelean hammer is to drive in a nail into the wall with minimum pressure to your wrist and hand. Sounds like a simple plan with advanced physics thought process, and a little bit of design engineering. What do you think … will it work?

In Case Of Fire, Just Use The Hammer

Adding a definitive edge to the regular fire extinguisher, we have here the Fire Hammer, a life-protecting tool. The shape of this extinguisher takes into account scenarios of victims being trapped in locked rooms or hard-to-get-out of places. One end of the extinguisher is fashioned in such a way that it can be used to hack and hammer your way through locked doors and glass barriers. The idea is to provide an easy escape during emergency situations.
