Explore Every Detail of Finn and Jake’s Tree Fort

Finn and Jake’s tree fort on Adventure Time is awesome, but we never get to see much of it in the show. Thankfully, artist Max Degtyarev has created a very cool cutaway illustration of their tree home with tons of detail.

That is one sweet pad. I could stare at this all day and still discover new stuff. I had no idea this place had that many rooms. There is so much to see here. I can’t stop looking. I wish I lived there. Finn and Jake are living the dream, man.

Check out Max’s ArtStation page for a closer look at this awesome tree fort.

Google wants your suggestions for new illustrations in its Calendar

As a part of an overall Material Design facelift, last year Google added helpful illustrations to its Calendar app that automatically highlight what you'll be doing, and now it's expanding the feature. According to a post on the Gmail blog, there's...

Disney Heroines as League of Legends Champions: Adorbz Disney Characters

Part of the appeal of MOBAs like League of Legends is that they have tons of playable characters. You know who else has tons of characters? Disney. DeviantArt member Elasar Reem turned just a subset of Disney characters into LOL champions.

Imagine the possibilities. Elsa, Jack-Jack, Yoda, Deadpool and Wall-E in one game? It would make Kingdom Hearts look like The Stanley Parable.

Of course, MOBAs are also notorious for having toxic environment. Perhaps Disney wouldn’t want to subject its fans to a whole new world of BM. Check out Elasar’s DeviantArt page for more of her work.

Mech Action Figure Looks Like a Drawing Come to Life

The figure you see here is like a cross between something you would see dawn in a comic book and a robot ripped from the MechWarrior video game I grew up playing. At first glance, you might think that this is a black and white line art drawing, but it is actually a 3D toy with a fantastic paintjob.

mech-1zoom in

The paint gives the mech depth and makes it look like it’s escaped the pages of a comic book. It was created by a an artist going by the name mumumuno53. The action figure itself isn’t custom, it’s from a Revoltech collection. It’s the Powered Armor from the Starship Troopers anime. The paint job is what makes it.

I wonder how long it took to do this; it had to have taken a very long time.

Outcast Odyssey x DeviantArt Semi-Finalists: Scale, Steel, Steam, Smoke and Sorcery

Bandai Namco and DeviantArt’s Outcast Odyssey card art contest appears to be a great succcess. It’s now down to 25 semi-finalists, three of which will win the grand prize. Needless to say all of the top 25 are great, but I thought I’d share my favorites among the lot. First up are these three dragons.

This is Say Tchiiiiz !!!! by Dogan Oztel. If I have to pick just one to win the contest this would be it. It just grabs your attention and is both funny and fearsome.

deviant_art_outcast_odyssey_1zoom in

This is Ancient Dragon by Huy Mai Van, who says it could be an animal, a plant or both. Its wings are so huge they can wrap around a mountain, and instead of breathing fire it can blast out a “destruction can[n]on” from its halo. Damn.

deviant_art_outcast_odyssey_2zoom in

This is the great GYPAETUS – The Bearded Dragon by Fabio Listrani. I like to think of him as both a gigantic dragon and a sorcerer.

deviant_art_outcast_odyssey_3zoom in

This is Robert Kim’s The Pirate King. He’s a pirate, he’s a king, he’s got a top hat and he’s got gears for teeth. Sir, You Are Being Plundered.

deviant_art_outcast_odyssey_4zoom in

This is the beautiful Vampire Witch by Andrey Vasilchenko. At first glance it seems like a clichéd RPG or fantasy art, but it’s just so well done and Andrey’s little touches drew me in. Phantom bat!

deviant_art_outcast_odyssey_5zoom in

Last but not least is Eduardo Garcia’s South Witch. I’ll let Ed blow your mind here: “The collar around her neck magically separates the head [from the] body, preventing her from using most of her magic.”  Woah.

Those are my picks! I bet at least one of them will receive the grand prize. Be sure to check out the other semi-finalists on DeviantArt.

NASA Travel Posters for Exoplanets it Discovered: Vacation in Space

NASA certainly has a lot of scientists and space geeks working for it that do very serious work, but most of these guys and gals always seem to keep a sense of humor about the work they do. Take for instance the science of discovering exoplanets. One of these planets could even hold life, which would be the greatest discovery ever.

nasa-poster-1zoom in

While the science of space exploration can be very serious, NASA has also made up these cool travel posters that make me actually want to visit these places. I’ll have to wait until they can freeze me though considering the massive distances these planets lie from Earth.

nasa-poster-2zoom in

There are three posters for different actual exoplanets including HD 40307g, Kepler-186f, and Kepler-16b. Each of the posters highlights something cool about the planet including the super gravity of HD 40307g, the red surface of kepler-186f, and the two suns of Kepler-16b.

If you’d like to print them out, you can grab the full hi-res images over on the NASA JPL website.

Live2D Euclid Turns Combines Illustrations into a 3D Model: Sketchune Miku

3D animations based on illustrations sacrifice a significant amount of quality in their transition from 2D. You can see it in games like Ni No Kuni, Valkyria Chronicles and the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series. Their models look great from afar, but you can see they look flat in some areas up close. A company called Live2D aims to eliminate that sacrifice with its Euclid technology.

live2d_euclid_3d_animation_technology_1zoom in

Live2D’s Euclid will allow animators to combine 2D illustrations drawn from different angles into a single 3D model, losing none of the details in the process. Each illustration can be deformed independently, which should result in more subtle and varied animations. Animators will also be able to combine a Euclid 3D model with a 3D model made with other methods to create a single 3D model.

The girl’s exploded view creeped me out. Head to Live2D’s website for more on Euclid.
