Star Wars Mickey Mouse Ears: LucasHats
Sure, we can all laugh about these Star Wars Mickey Mouse ears and point and say “Those merchandising fools. That’s ridiculous.” But remember, Disney now owns Lucasfilm, and therefore Star Wars. I wouldn’t be surprised if people wore this stuff in the next movies. I’m ready for anything after Jar Jar.
Etsy artist Jessica Danker makes these offbeat Mickey Mouse ear hats in a variety of styles.
I especially like the X-Wing pilot/X-Ear hat. And the Darth Maul hat. Yeah! Mickey Maul. That I can get behind!
They are cute and clever creations – as long as they keep them out of any movies.

R2-D2 Mickey Mouse Ears
You knew things like this would be coming eventually ever since Disney purchased the rights to the Star Wars franchise. If you’ve visited Disney recently, then perhaps you spotted the theme park exclusive mashup DELUXE R2D2 Mickey Ears Hat. Mickey Mouse and R2-D2- that’s two iconic figures in one hat right there. It even has buttons that stick out (which I’m guessing is the “deluxe” part?). A definite conversation piece and a must-have for anyone who likes Disney, Star Wars, or both.
Mickey Mouse Humidifier
The design sensibility in Japan is completely different than here in the US. Take this Japanese Mickey Mouse Humidifier. Notice how subtle and “grown-up” it is for a Disney piece- even the colors are somewhat muted- red, brown or white. It’s simple without being tacky or kitschy. In short- it’s aimed at adults. Because adults need moist air too. Speaking of, the mist comes out of Mickey’s ears. This humidifier measures about 8″ high and costs $149 (because it’s imported, and it’s Disney).
Mixed up Mickey Mouse
Who’s the leader of the club that’s made for you and me? M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E! But did you know that when Mickey Mouse isn’t leading the Mouseketeers, he’s going through life masquerading as other animated characters? At least that’s what I’ve been led to believe by these amusing Mickey mashups by artist Nicholas “Harshness” Hyde.
The series envisions Mickey assuming the form of other iconic characters, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Papa Smurf, Snoopy, Bugs Bunny and Garfield the cat. My personal fave is Pikachu, so that’s why he got the big hero image above.
They’re available as prints from Harshness’ Etsy shop, though they’re a little tricky to find – but it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other cool designs to keep you occupied over there while you poke around.
