That Bike From The TRON Movie Will Soon Be Up For Auciton

Screen Shot 2015-04-02 at 5.23.19 PM

You’re looking at a fully functioning replica of the bike used in the 2010 movie TRON:Legacy. Even if the movie wasn’t exactly a stellar flick, it has spawned countless pop culture references in the half-decade since its release. This particular bike was built for “the Andrews Collection, one of America’s biggest and best car collections, most of which is currently being sold at auction.”

96 volt, direct-drive electric motor with lithium batteries and a computer-controlled throttle, rebound and compression damping with spring-preload front suspension and rigid rear suspension, and front and rear hydraulic brakes. This custom Tron tribute boasts a very low seat height of 28.5 inches, making it easy to ride even at low speeds. The motorcycle is finished in black with a white stripe and boasts an imposing stance to match its performance.

It was only ever ridden around the Andrews Collection’s facilities to ensure it’s still in working order, so it’s in an as-new state. The auction will be held on May 2nd at a Sotheby’s location, with a $25,000-$40,000 starting bid and no reserve. That means you could snatch it for even less… if it just so happens that no one else is interested in it, which seems unlikely.

Ever Wonder Where all the Movie Props go After Filming?

Every time I watch a movie that has a lot of props, I always wonder what happens to them when filming is done. Eventually some make it to movie prop auction sites, which suggest they are sold off at some point after filming. I also figure that some studios simply have vast warehouses filled with awesome stuff.

warner-brozoom in

That is exactly what Warner Bros. has on the outskirts of London, a giant warehouse packed with props from some of the coolest movies it has ever made. CNN got to go on an exclusive tour of the facility, and it’s packed with more awesome than you can stomach.

There are props from the Dark Knight flicks including the Tumbler. Stuff from a lot of other geek flicks is in the building as well with gear from Harry Potter, Gravity, and Edge of Tomorrow among many others.

They should open the place up to the public, but for now you can check out some of the goodies in the video below:

Go Animal This Halloween: Eagle Mask and Talon Gloves

Eagle Mask and Talon Gloves

If you’re too lazy to get a proper costume or make one this Halloween, then go for something outrageous instead. Case in point: this bald eagle mask and eagle talon gloves that will (sort of) transform you into a man-eagle. Both are made from latex and should fit most adult heads and hands, as long as your measurements fall within the average.

Finish your look by putting on a shirt bearing our flag’s design. And if you can be bothered to, make a set of wings to go with it.

Eagle Mask and Talon Gloves1

The bald eagle mask is available for $29.95, while the Eagle Talon gloves retail for $34.95.

This Star Trek Phaser Doubles As A TV Remote

star-trek-phaser

It’s one thing to buy a novelty replica of a TV prop. It’s quite another to buy a Star Trek Phaser so faithful to the original that it was made by 3D scanning the last remaining prop from the TV series. It’s also fully licensed by CBS, and doubles as a programmable infrared remote with which you can control your TV, iPod docks and many other gadgets. And when it’s not changing channels, this Phaser plays a wide range of original sound effects from the series. It also vibrates and lights up each time it’s “fired”, and features a removable side door to reveal an illuminated dilithium crystal power cell. It’s made from a matte nickel plated die cast, and comes with a museum-quality metal stand, with hidden magnetic catch. The carrying case is made from rugged ABS plastic, printed with a blank name plate ready for you to make it your own. The only thing you might have trouble doing is vaporizing rocks and alien life forms with it, but at £119.95 (roughly $200), we’d say that’s good enough.

Revenge Is A Dish Best Served With A Horse Head Pillow

horse_head_pillow_1

The Godfather fans, check this out. It’s a severed horse-head-stuffed plushy/pillow thing. That’s what we’d like to think of as “the perfect gift”, but of course only for those with a macabre sense of humour or with an unhealthy obsession with the movie. For all of $45 (or $35 unstuffed), you can own a 19 inch by 33 inch replica of one of the most iconic scenes in Hollywood history.

Mechanical Hand Lets You be Steampunk Sabertooth. Or a Messy Eater

Whether you need one for cosplay of you just want really large fingers, Ivan Owen can give you a hand. Literally. Owen runs ChainCrafts, an Etsy store that specializes in armor, costumes and jewelry. His most intriguing product is the mechanical hand that’s twice the size of a human hand.

What’s awesome about the hand is that it has cables that let the wearer control each finger with his own fingers, like so:

Here’s another version of the mechanical hand. Owen said this one was going to be used in a werewolf costume:

Both of the hands I showed here have already been sold, but you can contact Owen via his Etsy shop and order a new one for around $230(USD) if you want. Owen is also hard at work co-developing a more practical version of his mechanical hand: prosthetic fingers.

Skyrim Nord Helmet Replica: FUS RO DAYUUM!

So you’ve managed to replicate the replica weapons made by Harrison Krix aka Volpin Props. Time to defend yourself with some armor, particularly the Ancient Nord/Draugr Helmet from Skyrim. This replica is of the female version, but even if you’re a man that doesn’t really matter because look:

It’s a helmet that any warrior, man or woman, would be honored to wear. To craft it, you need 157 golf balls, Magneto’s helmet and a deer that has just gored its sworn enemy in the face. Just kidding. I think. I didn’t read all of Volpin’s guide so you might really need some or all of those.
