Like Owner, Like Pup: Matching Sweaters for You and Your Pooch

Matching Christmas Sweaters

Who needs a kid when you’ve got a dog?

We kid, because we all know parenthood changes everything and that nothing beats the joys (and pains) of being a parent. In the meantime, you can redirect your parenting tendencies to your lovable pooch while you’re childless and yearning for some love and affection. Parents are always dressing their kids up in mini-me outfits, and there’s no reason you should miss out this year, because Funky Tails has come up with these matching sets of owner-and-pooch sweaters that are as adorable as they sound.

They look horrible as most Christmas sweaters do, but this time, your canine best friend will share in the humiliation.

If you’re resigned to wearing an ugly sweater this Christmas like you do every year, then make it this one. It’s the Street Fighter ugly Christmas sweater from Yellow Bulldog and it’s as ugly as you’d expect an ugly sweater to be. What sets it apart from the rest is that it features none other than Ken and Ryu, right smack in the pixelated middle.

Star Wars Death Star Ugly Sweater Style Sweatshirt

This year you can celebrate the holidays in a galaxy far, far away with this Star Wars Death Star sweatshirt. Even though you are right here. It will keep you warm and looking geeky.

The top row features tauntauns and trees. Next you have the Death Star and some TIE Fighters. Under that are a bunch of rebel ships, all ready to take on that moon space station. It is all done up in a faux sweater pixel design.

If you find sweaters uncomfortable, this is the sweatshirt for you this holiday season. It should impress your friends and family this Christmas. You can get it for $25(USD) from Lookhuman.

Space Invaders Ugly Christmas Sweater Sweatshirt

This sweatshirt that looks like an ugly Christmas sweater is full of Space Invaders. Pew pew pew! I’m giving her all she’s got captain. The phaser blasts are flying, but they just keep marching and getting closer and faster. Looks like they have a UFO too. For some reason they don’t seem to be replacing their ranks as they are shot.

This sweatshirt comes in five colors options and three garment styles from Etsy seller ShirtInvaders. You can get it in sweat shirt, long sleeve t-shirt or basic short sleeve T-shirt.

This shirt is the perfect way to combine your love of old school video games with Christmas. It is only $25.99(USD).

KO Christmas with This Street Fighter Ugly Sweater

I don’t know about you, but to me Christmas is all about Street Fighter. Maybe that’s because I celebrate Festivus, and we perform feats of strength all through the day. So Street Fighter is a big part of the holiday, naturally. That said, this ugly Christmas sweater is the perfect outfit for me.

This official Capcom sweater is a real knitted sweater too – not just printed on. This Christmas, put on your sweaters and fight to the death. Ok, maybe not to the death. Just remember, the loser gets no presents and has to clean up all of the ripped wrapping paper.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good… FIGHT!

Santa Vader Sweater is Disturbed by Your Lack of Warmth

I think that Darth Vader and The Grinch would be good friends. They are both angry, rather evil folks. With the holiday season here, you might be looking for a new Christmas sweater to keep the chill away and celebrate the season. There are few ways geekier to do that than wearing the Santa Vader Christmas Sweater.

The sweater has a Vader helmet on the front wearing a Santa hat. The design around the sweater is all snowflakes, dots, tie fighters, and AT-ATs. This would be perfect for keeping warm on Hoth; though it’s no substitute for the steaming innards of a Tauntaun.

The sweater is made from 100% acrylic and the only truly evil thing about it is that it’s hand wash only. The sweater is available in sizes S-XXXL and sells for $49.99. You could win both the ugly and geeky sweater contest with this one.

Super Breakout Sweater: Casual Atari

Band of Outsiders released a line of Atari-themed apparel this Holiday season. The clothes might as well be adorned with pixel art or random colored blocks to younger gamers, but their dads and moms see cowboys, aliens and car chases there. Unless you look at the Super Breakout sweater, in which case what you see is what you get: a paddle, a ball and a wall.

I chose to feature this sweater not just because I think it looks great but also because it’s not just for Atari or Super Breakout fans. It’s for both Apple fans and haters too. The game you see here wouldn’t exist without Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, the same people that led to the iPhone and iPads, which are now home to bite-sized arcade style games in the vein of Super Breakout. If you already know that trivia then this sweater also serves as a reminder of Steve Wozniak’s talent and Steve Jobs’ business acumen, i.e. ruthlessness.

The sweater even has an Apple-like price tag: Band of Outsiders is selling it for $395 (USD). You could do worse: the Super Breakout beanie costs an insane $175.

High-Tech Ugly Christmas Sweaters With Animated Designs are Still Ugly

High Tech Christmas Sweater

These are Christmas sweaters by Digital Dudz and they’re as tacky and ugly, like you’d expect ugly Christmas sweaters to be. They’re a lot more high tech compared to your typical sweater though, because the designs actually come to life. Some sweaters have fireplaces that burn bright, the one with the snowglobe has snow falling randomly, while two others that feature Santa and an adorable kitten have eyes that periodically move sideways.

Creepy? Yes. Nice? No. Still ugly? Definitely.

The sweater has a velcro pocket on the inside that can fit most mobile devices, include an iTouch, iPhone, or a Samsung Galaxy S3. The mobile device, in turn, runs the free companion app, which provides the animation.

Each animated Ugly Christmas Sweater is priced at $54.95.

Twitter-Powered Knitbot Knits Ugly Christmas Sweaters for Designated Drivers

Knitbot

Don’t drink or drive, because lives will be on the line. If you’re going on a night out with friends where alcohol is involved, then it’s always best to assign designated drivers beforehand. That way, they’ll drink less than their limits and everyone will get home safe and sound.

As a means to promote designated drivers and reward them, Budweiser UK embarked on a campaign involving Twitter and a knitting robot called Knitbot. The Knitbot is powered by Twitter in the sense that it only knits ugly Christmas jumpers (that’s ugly Christmas sweaters in the US) when someone tweets updates containing the #Jumper4des hashtag.

The sweaters aren’t exactly that ugly, although they’re not particularly nice, either. Knitted in red and white, the sweaters bear the words “Merry Christmas! Celebrate responsibility” across the chest, with snowflakes and horses by the sleeves and hem to complete the design.

Fans will get a chance to win one of the sweaters by checking the Budweiser UK Facebook page for updates.
