Walking Dead Zombie & Sword Letter Opener Set

One of my favorite characters on The Walking Dead is Michonne. I like her because she uses a sword to slice and dice zombies rather than a gun. If you are besieged with a bunch of slow zombies, I think a sharp Katana sword might be the best way to kill a hoard. I would want guns too though.

This is an official Walking Dead letter opener that opens sealed envelopes much in the same way Michonne dispatches the undead. While it doesn’t quite look like Michonne’s katana, it does look like a sword, and it’s sharp enough to use to open letters. That probably means the blade is completely dull and you simply use it to rip open the top of a letter.

The sword sticks into the rotting skull of a walker and looks awesome. I particularly like that you can see the sword in the mouth of the zombie. The sword is 11.5″ long and the zombie base is 13″ (H) x 4.5″ (W) x 3.5″ (D). You can get your letter opener for $89.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

Lend Me Your Ears: Limited Edition Daryl Dixon Zombie Ear Necklace

Next to Rick, the best character on The Walking Dead is Daryl Dixon. If you have been watching the show since it began, you might recall that early in his zombie killing career he made a necklace out of the ears of the zombies he did in. It was gross and would have to be really stinky.

Thanks to Gentle Giant, you can own your own prop replica of Daryl’s zombie ear necklace. Only 1,676 of these will be made. Each of them is displayed in a wood and glass shadow box and looks really cool. The necklace was digitally sculpted from the original prop worn in the show.

Each of them is hand numbered on the bottom of the box and has a certificate of authenticity. You can get your own set of zombie ears for $99.99(USD) at ThinkGeek. Perhaps the coolest part is that you can actually take the ear necklace out of the box and wear it and put it back without messing things up.

This Zombie Cake Is Gruesomely Delicious

Word is that this cake was rejected by a client because it was “too gruesome”. Too gruesome? They must not have seen a movie since 1999 and I’m guessing they don’t have the internet. Compared to an average episode of The Walking Dead, this cake is tame, aside from that mouth, which looks like it has a bad case of the herp.

I guess they should have figured out what the customer had in mind first, before making the cake. Anyway, who asks for a zombie and expects to get a Disney character?

At least someone benefited from this mistake and got to eat a delicious cake. I hope they chopped the head off first, because if you eat a zombie cake any other way, you’re doing it wrong.

Z-Hunter Machetes are for Slicing, Dicing, and Chopping Zombies

The other day, I mentioned the M48 Tactical Survivor series and reckoned they would be great weapons for the inevitable zombie invasion. Some other weapons have surfaced that specifically say they are for killing the undead hordes. These are called the Z-Hunter Machete Series and there are four weapons in the series.

Each of the weapons has a specific task from chopping, slicing, severing, and carving up zombies. The Chop version has big serrated teeth and what appears to be a saw on the backside. The Slice version is more like a standard machete.

The Sever version looks like a big hunting knife. My favorite is the Carve version, it looks like the weapon Worf would use if he was part of a zombie killing crew. The Carve happens to be the cheapest of the series at $14.99 with the other three versions selling for $19.99. All have full tang blades and are 3mm thick opposite the cutting edge and all are available from ThinkGeek.

M48 Tactical Survival Series: Perfect for Zombie Killin’

I think The Walking Dead’s Michonne has the right idea with her katana sword. It never runs out of ammo and can kill the undead with ease. The only downside to having a sword is that when you inevitably run up against evil humans bent on pillaging what you have, you have the literal knife at a gunfight. I think I’d like both a sword and a gun personally.

Actually, as I would cut myself on a sword, I’d rather have something easier to wield by the uninitiated like this M48 Tactical Survival Series 2.0 hammer or Kama. The hammer almost looks innocent enough; it’s just a hammer other than the big sharp skull-puncturing spike on the end. It can hammer up wood barricades by day and poke zombie brains at night. I like it!

There is nothing innocent looking about the Kama version with its wicked curved blade. Both of these are made from 2Cr13 stainless steel and come with a nylon sheath. You can get either one for $39.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

Deck the Graves: Zombie Christmas Ornaments

Four Zombie Christmas Ornaments

The Walking Dead invades your tree this Christmas! Well, sort of. So these undead zombie ornaments don’t exactly feature characters from the hit TV series and comic book franchise, but no one needs to know. They come in sets of four, with a bloody reindeer and killer snowman accompanying a horrific-looking elf and an undead Santa.

They’re just dying to be hung from your tree this year…dying. Get it? (insert groan here.)

Four Zombie Christmas Ornaments1

Each ThinkGeek Zombie Ornament Set come with four different ornaments. There’s an undead elf, ready to nip at your nose a bit more than Jack Frost; a reindeer, with a horrible hunger for your flesh; a snowman, covered in the frozen blood of his victims; and Santa, waiting to give you a present, before ripping out your spleen.

Fester in the awesomeness of the undead this year. They’re available from ThinkGeek for $19.99.

Bastile Day: A French Revolution RPG with Zombies

The French Revolution was one of the most chaotic and bloody eras in recent memory, but that has in no way stopped game developer Post World Games from adding zombies just to spice things up a bit. Yup, those creepy sewers full of skeletons are now really creepy sewers full of reanimated corpses. HUZZAH!

bastile day 1 620x413magnify

Bastile Day will use Post World Games’ original DramaSystem, which is designed to gamify not only the procedural scenes in tabletop RPGs, but also the dramatic ones. Pivotal interactions between characters demand use of a system in which a character designated at the petitioner seeks an emotional or social response from another character or group of characters called the granter. This is all governed by emotional ties included at character creation and a series of carrots and sticks that encourages characters to occasionally give in, just like real life.

bastile day 2 620x789magnify

Bastile Day will also come with a built-in campaign that also sounds rather interesting, as a guy who likes a story with some good moral ambiguity to argue about and quote Aristotle over. The press release describes it thusly: “It forces players to work together against a gamut of terrorizing obstacles and moral complexities, begging the question… “are they villains or heroes?” Including a chapter laden with notorious NPCs, Bastille Day offers a game world that entertains, excites, and torments its players.” The game will be raising funds on Kickstarter in early 2015.
