Cthulhumas Wreath: R’lyeh Christmas

Geyser of Awesome co-editor Maika Keuben is a huge Cthulhu fan, so come December she adds a maddening twist to her Holiday decorations. Aside from putting together her ever evolving Cthulhumas tree, Maika also made a Cthulhumas wreath.

Maika spray painted several Archie McPhee Finger Tentacles and LEGO octopus figures green then glued them to her custom made wreath. So yes, the cult still lives.

Mickthulhu Mouse Is a Fun New Way to Horrify Children

Walt Disney and H. P. Lovecraft have a lot in common: they were both very prolific creators of entertainment, they both crafted rich and weird worlds full of wonder, and they both are rumored to have been really, really racist pricks. If it weren’t for the fact that the former’s creation was a happy cartoon universe of magic aimed at children, and the latter’s was a horrifying universe full of evil and alien powers clawing at the very barriers of reality, it would be a perfect match.

As it turns out, there’s at least one person out there who thinks that it is a match made in heaven/hell, and that’s why you can buy a tee shirt with this alternately terrifying and cheerful mascot on the front. Now we know what horrors lurk beneath the so called “happiest place on Earth.” One day, when Mickthulhu rises from the depths of Splash Mountain, sanity will simple cease to be and all will be enslaved to his will.

Cthulhu x My Little Pony Mashup Maddie on Kickstarter: Funding is Maddness

You can now own get a vinyl figurine of Maddie, the Cthulhu-inspired pony that Bigshot Toyworks revealed earlier this year. Like Goat Simulator, Maddie started out as a joke but was awakened from her nap time by the Internet’s adulation.

Bigshot Toyworks has since created a back story for Maddie. The company describes her as “an ‘older sister’ type with an affinity for sleeping. Despite her drowsy disposition, this tentacled terror is an incredibly capable strategist and the ‘face’ to the ‘Pocalypse.” Maddie serves as the mentor of The Four Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse: Calamity (Pestilence), Raven (Famine), Clash (War) and Ghost (Death).

Try explaining that to the kids.

Pledge at least $60 (USD) on Kickstarter to get a Maddie figurine as a reward. You can also pledge at least $160 to get a Kickstarter exclusive glow-in-the-dark version of Maddie. If this fundraiser is a success, Bigshot Toyworks will be more inclined to release figurines of the Four Horsies as well.

Steampunk Cthulhu Playing Cards: Play Go Fish with an Octopus

Look at these beautiful playing cards that feature a Steampunk Cthulhu theme. They were created by Nat Iwata, an artist based in Vancouver. These are real works of art that you can play poker with.

This custom playing card set features awesome artwork on back, and the face cards include scenes and characters from Lovecraft’s story. Nat decided to create these Steampunk Cthulhu Resurrection cards as a follow up to his original Steampunk Cthulhu cards from about a year ago.

Nat has also made some custom Cthulhu coins that you can buy with the deck, which will complete your Cthulhu poker night or allow you to start one. Nat has really outdone himself with this set. I don’t know which is cooler, the cards or the coins.

He has already met his Kickstarter goal and it still has a couple of weeks to go. A pledge of at least $10(USD) will get you a deck of cards, while $15 will get you the cards and one coin.

Cthulhu Lamp: Cthulhu Brightens Up A Room

You might be surprised when you find that the best lamp piece for a room comes in the form of the cosmic entity of Cthulhu, the Elder One.

There’s a man behind the madness, and he goes by Karl Dupéré-Richer… at least, that’s the closest the he human vocal apparatus can come to reproducing the syllables of his name. He created it using “the back of one PVC patio chair, 14 chair feet, one flowerpot, one umbrella base, two bike tires, 30 cans, many pieces of PVC pipes, one acrylic globe light, some car body parts, a few pieces of garden hose and about 1,000 devoured human souls.” We believe the last part, definitely.

Cthulhu Wall Sconce: The Darkest Light

This Cthulhu lamp is very impressive and intimidating. You have to be brave to decorate with this kind of lighting. It was made by Karl Dupéré-Richer, who clearly knows how to terrorize and decorate at the same time.

That sounds like Cthulhu’s diet alright. This thing is just amazing. I love how those eyes glow as if he has just awakened and is ready to steal your soul.

The lamp hangs proudly on the wall at the EtOH Brasserie in Montreal, Canada. And if you have any doubt just how awesome this thing is, wait til you see how huge it is…

My Little Cthulhu: Friendship Is Insanity

An ancient evil has awakened. And he is so adorable! This cute Cthulhu pony comes from Bigshot Toyworks who is developing a Cthulhu-themed My Little Pony named Maddie. She is one of the characters in their upcoming toy and animation series aptly called “Friendship is Maddness.”

Yes. Yes it is. And cuteness. And insanity. This pony looks a bit like an Ood from Doctor Who as well. This one will not be the only newly-designed toy, but I’m guessing the story centers on her.

Judging by this one, that should be a very cool animation and toy series. I would watch the heck out of that Cthulhu pony show.

Santa Cthulhu: Deck the Halls with Boughs of Horror

He’s making a list and checking it twice. God help those who have been naughty instead of nice. Santa Cthulhu’s coming to town! Artists Amy Rawson and Brian East make a new needle felted Christmas Cthulhu almost every year and this is the latest. In fact, it’s the fifth Santa Cthulhu.

Santa Cthulhu is sitting in his Octi-Sleigh, ready to deliver toys to good kids and to drive the naughty one’s insane by just showing up. The Shoggoth pulling Santa and his sleigh is a nice touch. Who needs eight tiny reindeer when you’ve got a shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light?

Cthulhu Santa is about 11″ tall and is made of 100% needle felted wool, while the sleigh is sculpted from epoxy clay and wire, and Shaggoth is needle-felted with epoxy clay teeth and glass cabochon eyeballs.

The whole sculpture is for sale through Rawson’s Etsy store for $595(USD). Even the pricetag is frightening, though it does look like it took a ton of work to make this, so it’s worth it. I’d love to have this on my mantle for the holidays.

Cute Cthulhu Scuplture = Cuteulhu?

If you hang around these parts much you know that there are a few topics we are particularly enamored with. We like our LEGOs, cosplay, video game stuff, and Cthulhu. I’d go so far as to say Cthulhu is probably one of the most covered topics here. Typically, the beast is seen in scary form, but on occasion it’s rather cutesy.

In fact, the last time we talked about a cute Cthulhu it was a massive plush toy. We also had our brains melted by a LEGO Cthulhu combining two of our favorite topics into one. Now, artist Cassia Harries has a sculpted what may be the cutest Cthulhu yet.

In this creation, Cthulhu looks like a little potbellied baby. The sculpture was made by hand and was cast from resin and then hand-painted giving it the look of the garden gnome. The sculpture is about three inches-tall and the artist plans to sell these little sculptures soon. I don’t know how much it cost, but I could definitely see this standing guard in my garden. If I had a garden.

Giant Cthulhu Plush Toy: At Least It’ll Keep the Boogeyman Away

This giant Cthulhu plush toy is great for so many things. It’s decorative of course, can be used as a kids seat, a giant pillow with arms that wrap around you, and even crib decor as seen here. Of course you risk scarring your child for life.

So what if your child never ever goes for a swim. That’s nothing next to the fun you’ll have scaring him or her with this giant beast. It even has a freakish gaping mouth that looks as scary as the rest of it. This crazy huge Cthulhu monster was made by Etsy seller KfiatekGiftedHands and it certainly makes a statement in your nursery.

Unfortunately, this thing will cost you a wallet-eating $460(USD) or so. On top of that, you need to pay to have it shipped from the U.K. Hey giant Cthulhus don’t come cheap.
