Postmates’ speedy booze delivery begins drop-offs in NYC and Texas

Postmates' on-demand alcohol service is now available well beyond California's borders. On top of an expansion to Miami in May, the internet delivery mainstay is now making its Drinks feature available in New York City (in Brooklyn and Manhattan) as...

Goth Lattes: I’ll Take My Coffee Black

Goth folks could use a hot cup of coffee in the morning to get going just like regular folks. The catch is that they might want a dark and brooding beverage rather than something bright and cheerful like a Rainbow Frappuccino. It turns out that there’s a drink just for them.

These black and white lattes are popping up at cafes around the UK and Australia, and are made using activated charcoal. The charcoal is supposedly good for your body and gives the drink its black color.

I would think charcoal would be bitter, but I loathe coffee of any type so I wouldn’t be the best judge.

Darth Vader and R2-D2 Koozies: The Chill Side of the Force

I remember back in the day I always had a Koozie to hold my Dr. Pepper because lukewarm soda suck. Most of the Koozies that I had growing up were foam affairs that my dad always confiscated for his beer. Now that I’m an adult, I can have my own koozies, and these Star Wars ones will do just fine.

One of them looks like our favorite astrodroid R2-D2. Cram your can in the top of his head and he will keep your cans and bottles cold. The Darth Vader koozie channels the Dark Side to keep your drink as cold as the emperor’s heart.

These koozies are available at vat19.com. The R2-D2 is in stock right now for $11.99(USD). The Darth Vader Koozie sells for the same price, but is out of stock until May 31.

Why Does McDonald’s Coke Taste So Good?

McDonald’s isn’t exactly fine dining, but they have two things on the menu that are fantastic. One is the french fries – they’re not too crunchy and not too soft, with plenty of salt. The other are their fountain Cokes. I know I’m not the only person who wonders why Coke taste so much better at McDonald’s than just about any other place.

The reason is simple – apparently it’s because McDonald’s follows Coca-Cola’s exact handling directions, and also uses metal containers for the syrup. MickeyD’s has its syrup shipped and stored in old school stainless steel containers rather than the plastic ones so many places use these days.

It also pre-chills the water and Coke syrup before they go into the drink machine. The entire fountain drink system is cold and it uses proper filtration. Plus, that wide straw also allows more to hit your tastebuds at once. Damn, now I want fries and a Coke.

Make Your Own Harry Potter Polyjuice Potion

I admit to being many, many years behind on Harry Potter. I only started watching the movies this last weekend because I ran out of episodes of Westworld and got bored. It turns out the flicks are actually pretty good, and I am almost done with the series. One of the things it seems like every movie has is a Polyjuice Potion to turn someone into someone else for a bit.

If you want to hold a Harry Potter marathon for yourself over the long holiday weekend, you really need your own Polyjuice potion to go with it. Here is a video recipe for just such a thing.

The video even shows you how to make the labels and burn them for that suitably ancient look. All you need to make your own potion is two cups lime sherbet, three cups sprite, two drops neon green food coloring and two drops dark green food coloring. I’m sure your teeth will be green after drinking.

Sadly it won’t turn you into The Chosen One.
