Goth Lattes: I’ll Take My Coffee Black

Goth folks could use a hot cup of coffee in the morning to get going just like regular folks. The catch is that they might want a dark and brooding beverage rather than something bright and cheerful like a Rainbow Frappuccino. It turns out that there’s a drink just for them.

These black and white lattes are popping up at cafes around the UK and Australia, and are made using activated charcoal. The charcoal is supposedly good for your body and gives the drink its black color.

I would think charcoal would be bitter, but I loathe coffee of any type so I wouldn’t be the best judge.

The Maker of Morning People

The Barisieur is an alarm clock that will wake you up with a bespoke cup of coffee right when you need it most. It challenges all 5 senses, easing the user into the day with the subtle movement of stainless steel ball bearings that boil water via induction heating, accompanied by the smell of freshly brewed coffee or tea. Nightly prep encourages a “ritual” before bed, signaling the body & mind that it’s time to unwind and that there’s something to look forward to in the morning! Better yet, it makes for a stunningly beautiful bedside piece. DO WANT!

Materials: Black Corian, Stainless Steel Ball-Bearings, Sustainable Stainless Steel Coffee Filter, Bespoke Hand-Blown Gass, and American Walnut Tray

Latte Printer Lets You Drink Your Favorite Memories

What’s your favorite memory? Your first kiss? The first time you brought your baby home? The times you’ve spent with your dog? You’ve already immortalized them in photos, and now you can enjoy them in a totally different way thanks to Lets Cafe’s Latte Printer.

Latte Printer

It’s perfect for morning surprises and random pick-me-up cups of coffee for someone who’s near and dear to you.

Lets Cafe is a Taiwan coffee chain and they’ve recently unveiled the Latte Printer in their stores. The printer basically uses a range of colored cocoa powder to ‘print’ your chosen images onto the foam of your coffee.

Lets Cafe hopes this newest addition to their shops will draw more customers away from larger and more popular chains like Starbucks.

Geeky Latte Art to Brighten Up Your Morning

Latte Art

If it weren’t for coffee, I have a feeling half the people in the world wouldn’t be able to get out of bed every day. Coffee is awesome for a hundred reasons and one, one of which is the fact that you can create awesome works of art on the coffee foam. That’s what Japanese artist and engineer Yuko Honda does and she’s pretty amazing at it, too.

After seeing countless landscape and Grumpy Cat-inspired latte art, you might’ve thought that you’ve already seen it all. Not quite, because Honda’s uber geeky latte art is in a league of its own.

From Apple’s renowned logo to Mozilla’s Firefox logo, it looks like Honda’s done it all.

She explains: “I love the Internet. I love its openness and its favor of information freedom. I thought I could somehow express my gratitude and respect for geeks who are involved in the Internet technology. Besides that, I’m a long-time coffee addict.”
