There’s something deep down I love about shape-shifting functionality, be it on any vehicle, furniture, or everything in between. The ability to fold down the size almost half of the original brings so many possibilities to the fore – easy portability and space-saving being on top of the list. When I saw this folding e-bike it was a nirvana moment, simply because of the armadillo-like folding characteristic that’s no gimmick beyond the pictures into the real-life scenarios. Robin Feng of PXID Design, the inventive mind behind this cool bicycle design deserves accolades for his intuitive thinking to make it so small its barely even noticeable in the boot of your car.

Dubbed the PXID – A1, this compact electric bicycle folds to the size of a small suitcase for easy transportation in the boot or even be carried to the office floor, that’s if the boss permits. The folding bicycle rides on 14-inch tires and the rear tires get power from the onboard electric battery for assistive riding on ascends. The seat is height adjustable and the revamped design as compared to the earlier S1 model adapts an angular frame design. This gives the A1 a far better foldable aesthetic that’s practical in use. In fact, it is so compact in the foldable position, you can even store more luggage in the boot of your car with the A1 foldable electric bicycle sitting on one corner!

The monochrome digital display on the left-hand side keeps the rider informed of the reaming battery levels, average range, current speed and the current gear being employed. The 36V battery of the e-bike is stored on the front of the frame which all goes well for the power to weight ratio balance. The design of the bicycle is tailored for urban commutes and styling too has that upbeat element to it. I cannot wait to see the PXID – A1 out on the streets, can you?

Christened the BUCK bike, this is a lightweight ebike meant for office workers who don’t mind the odd trek to the mountains on the weekends. Essentially it combines the goodness of a small wheel city bicycle and mountain bike for multiple utilities. But this is not where the BUCK’s niche lies.

The way we commute has changed with more focus on creating the least footprint on the environment owing to the climate crisis we are currently going through. The mindful conscious to avert four-wheelers powered by fuel has seen a splurge in the adaption of bicycles as a means of commute. More and more professionals are using bicycles as means of personal transport. More so for the fact that bicycles are good for overall fitness and well-being.

Now that the focus is very much on creating bicycles for professional users who don’t want a quick pit stop at the coffee shop or by the sidewalks for finishing up an urgent task on their laptop, a designer wants to take it to the next level. The idea is to create a bicycle that gives the user freedom to work anywhere, anytime. A mobile workstation on wheels brings the freedom of working at your will without the need to search for a place to keep the laptop or your journal and get on with the current task.

The BUCK electric bike has a laptop stand that elegantly conceals beneath the bike frame when not in use. The moment you need to perform an important task – just park the bike, swivel the laptop stand in position and your mobile standing workstation is ready. You just have to slide it out of the bike frame’s section and attach it to the saddle which can be moved to a 90 degrees position to give up space for the stand.

On the design front, the bicycle has a very neat minimalist look draped in white color with contrasting black sections. Since the bike is meant for the odd leisure too on rough roads, the active suspension and the high riding position are well suited for the same. This electric bicycle is something I would actually want to use for my commute as it is not just restricted to the urban commute but caters to the mountain biking needs as well.

I mean, not only do we get to save the Earth from air pollution, but we can also get some intense cardio done. And they’re becoming an increasingly popular option day by day. It’s estimated that by 2023, the total number of electric bicycles in circulation around the world, will be 300 million, which is an exponential increase, from the 200 million back in 2019. It looks like everyone is slowly and steadily hopping onto the e-bicycle bandwagon! And, we’ve curated a whole range of innovative designs for you. To ensure this portability and convenience, the ONEBOT-S7 uses a unique three-fold structure – as opposed to the two-step folding design that we all are familiar with – which makes the e-bike ultra-compact when folded so it can fit in the boot of the car or slide under your workstation (however and wherever you please to use it). Compressed into the smallest single unit possible, this e-bike when folded measure only 60cm in height and length and just 35cm in width. ONEBOT-S7 is fitted with a removable battery pack in the frame, tucked neatly under the seat post. It sits there unobstructed and blends with the uniform frame design and colorway eliminating any distraction from the chrome-like finish of the e-bike.

While riding manual unicycles might be too much of a learning curve for most, self-balancing, electric unicycles sound more like something we could all get behind. Titaa, a unicycle with just those sorts of mechanics, conceptualized by Husky Design is a dual-purpose, modular vehicle that can transform from a bicycle into a self-balancing unicycle. In its full form, Titaa is an electric two-wheeler in the shape of a cargo bike. When riding Titaa as a two-wheeler, users sit upright on a curved, elevated seat rest that slopes down toward the bicycle’s set of foot pedals. There, users can rest their feet while the motor charges the e-bike ahead. Built into the rear-wheel component, Titaa runs on a battery-operated system that can be replaced and recharged near the vehicle’s foot pedals.

This e-bike concept from BaoPham Design features centerless wheels that reduce the rotating inertia found in heavier wheels. Equipped with slim road bike tires, BaoPham’s concept e-bike boasts an aerodynamic build that cuts out the extra drag from air pressure and skin friction to give the bike a speedy ride. Conceptualized with a swift, Z-frame, the e-bike concept from BaoPham Design would host an electric motor located in the bike’s rear-wheel rotor that would be activated once the pedals are moved. The Z-frame of BaoPham Design’s e-bike would be constructed entirely from metal or aluminum for a sleek look and swift ride. Additionally, the hubless wheels of BaoPham Design’s e-bike reduce the rotating inertia found in wheels with spokes and a hub.

For the past three years, Lyft has been developing an e-bike that embodies the best in safety technology and low carbon footprint. Now, finally, it sees fruition in the form of this upbeat e-bike. According to Lyft‘s President and Co-Founder John Zimmer Lyft is all about “creating affordable, reliable and joyful transportation experiences – and few things create joy like riding this new e-bike“. The single gear transmission e-bike is built for every kind of rider with improved ergonomics and is pure joy to ride in cities – thanks to the transmission tuning for any kind of speed or road grade. It bears a very sleek form factor perfectly matched to the smooth and adaptive motor integrated into the frame. Keeping in mind the young riders, Lyft’s e-bike comes with personalized features including a built-in speaker system, hydraulic brakes for consistent stopping power, onboard sensors for safety, retroreflective paint to shine in the dark, and lighting effects keeping in mind urban riders demand.

The Three Phase One is designed to look like your conventional pedal-powered bicycle, but its integrated brushless motor makes traveling longer distances an absolute breeze! It comes with a zero-compromise design but still cleverly manages to cut down on costs by offering only two color options on the two models… a Base model and a Boost model. Both variants echo the same principles of being powerful, versatile, and futuristic, yet retaining a sense of conventionalism. The design doesn’t go out of its way to look overly futuristic, but rather, focuses on a universally appealing and adaptable aesthetic that’s informed by Dutch design principles. The lightweight aluminum frame on the Three Phase One comes with a one-size-fits-all design and features a battery pack integrated into the downtube.

Cheolhee Lee, Dahae Lee, and Hyewon Park designed GEO based on the geometry of a typical bicycle. Looking at GEO head-on, three circles catch the eye – the bike’s two wheels and round middle area that doubles as a storage unit and might also contain the e-bike’s power supply. The e-bike’s center circle manages to store a lot of the magic. Narrow in width for smooth pedaling, the center storage unit is completely detachable so riders can easily pack a lunch and bring an extra bathing suit for rides to the beach on those summer Fridays. Adding to the bike’s slender body, its dual-spoke wheels and sparse tubing give the frame a casual and approachable feel.

Juggernaut HD Duo isn’t your average last-mile e-bike that lets you navigate within your neighborhood. It’s designed to be taken off the roads, traveling far beyond the borders of a city, and even going on intercity journeys if you’ve got it in you. The e-bike sports a rugged build with heavy-duty tires that work equally well on sand, snow, and gravel as they do on asphalt, which means you can take the Juggernaut HD Duo practically anywhere. Dual 910Wh batteries integrated within the bike’s frame give you nearly 100 miles of range, while an optional downtube battery sits on the outside, boosting your range to up to 200 miles… that’s about as much as traveling from New York to Philadelphia and back in a single battery charge.

Victor Tabares, a designer based in bustling Barcelona, felt inspired to design and produce OOH BIKE. Since this e-bike retains its pedaling capabilities, most of the standout features from OOH BIKE are integrated into the bicycle itself. Just within the cyclist’s periphery vision, the battery levels are displayed along the top of the bicycle’s frame. Lit-up, neon lights signify the bicycle’s battery levels by the quarter. The front wheel on the OOH BIKE is entirely hubless, producing a metropolitan finished look that gives an otherwise integrated and functional bike some style. Additionally, the spokeless front helps rotate the wheel quickly and with little effort. While centerless wheels are primarily, it seems, an aesthetic decision, they do work well in city environments.

No one can deny the number of options when it comes to the most eco-friendly option for commuting on the planet, but are they all practical enough? This prompted designer Franz Cerwinka to rethink the next generation of luxury bicycling that’s perfectly in tune with high-tech features. Thus came into existence the Pilot bicycle designed for the upcoming 5-10 years. Franz set out on designing the bicycle by conducting extensive interviews and testing phases. Interactions with bike owners, students, or other people who ride their bikes for daily commutes led to the final design. Talking of shaping and modeling the two-wheeler, this bit took the most chunk of the effort since it was a one-man job.

Called Prototype 0, this velodrome track racing bicycle imagined for speed heads shines out with its unibody design that’s centered on drag reduction and aerodynamic optimization for maximum acceleration with minimum effort. The ultra-slim profile of the Prototype helps in achieving the least possible aerodynamic drag which is great for effortless commuting. The bike is a fixie – a single-speed gear bicycle that is tailored for urban riding for extra degree control. Don’t expect it to be as good for steep ascends or rugged terrain, as it’s purely designed to be a racing demon for smooth tarmac surfaces. The presence of a bigger gear shaft means that the control is going to be the ride’s forte.

Unicycles have a reputation for only being used in circuses and carnivals. While unicycle aficionados and hobbyists are surely out there, pedaling away, and without any circus credentials to their name, the one-wheeled bicycle isn’t typically the vehicle of choice for getting around a crowded city.

Getting to know our cities through different modes of transportation brings us to sights and places we previously hadn’t known existed. Titaa is the type of electric bike you’d see zooming down the wooden planks of Santa Monica pier or up the cobblestone avenues of Paris.

In its full form, Titaa is an electric two-wheeler in the shape of a cargo bike. When riding Titaa as a two-wheeler, users sit upright on a curved, elevated seat rest that slopes down toward the bicycle’s set of foot pedals. Outfitted with a somatosensory control system, Titaa adapts to your body’s natural movements to remain balanced and respond in real-time to necessary braking.

This sleek, portable e-bike made from a single piece of aluminum has a unique three-fold mechanism

Electric bikes have never been as popular before. Of late, they are immensely in demand giving designers the freewill to perceive their idea of folding electric bicycles we would be riding in the future. Case in point the ONEBOT-S7 an electric resistance bicycle that’s polished in enthusiasm, charm and substance.

There is something really satisfying about riding past the queued-up cars in your two-wheeled EV and being able to fold it up and carry it to park under your desk when you reach your workplace. The folding e-bikes are generally small and nibble offering you the charm of portability without sacrificing the fun and convenience of commuting. The ONEBOT-S7 by designer Kinson Chan poses a series entry in this domain with its frame constructed using the die casting process. This allows the whole bicycle to be formed from a single piece of magnesium and aluminum alloy. The unibody construction renders the e-bike light and durable while offering a productivity bump up of nearly 500 percent, the designer remarks.

From how I see it, the ONEBOT-S7 acquires most of the features of the e-bikes on the market and packages it elegantly into a niche frame and tri-folding form factor that we may take to as soon as it’s available!

A Nintendo Switch-inspired electric bike that carries the definitive design language of the popular handheld gaming console – signaling the imagined form of Nintendo’s automotive character, if ever the company decides to take that road.

Handheld gaming consoles and Nintendo are synonyms that keep the nerdy crowd engaged for countless hours of fun. With the portable gaming console market size projected to touch 16 billion by 2026, it is destined to make up the major chunk of the overall gaming industry. Nintendo’s handheld gaming console commands an advantageous position in the fight for supremacy in the portable console market – and why not – it is designed well and comes with a unique collection of gaming titles!

Taking inspiration from Nintendo’s core beliefs and the radical design philosophy, product designer HTH Han has mustered up the idea of a Nintendo electric bicycle. Christened the Nintendo Switch Bike, this two-wheeler is modeled around the handheld gaming console’s core vision. A belief that what if Nintendo expands into the sports and outdoor market. Han uses the disoriented element of the Switch’s Joy-Con to create the frame of the bicycle. Frankly, this design element looks very nice.

Battery placement is one of the prime considerations in any electric bike, and this one accommodates it smartly in the frame. The lower section of the neon blue-colored frame to be precise, and it can be taken out for recharging with the push of a button. This increases the balanced styling approach of the hubless wheel electric bike as well. Han adapts the comfortable ergonomics, simple aesthetics, intuitive placement of buttons and keys, and the symmetrical interface of the controllers as the designing roadmap for the Nintendo Switch Bike.

The bicycle’s pedal comes with tactically placed LED lights on the outside face for driving safety at night. On the top of the pedal is a light indicator denoting the battery status to the rider for a quick glance at the information. Just like other electric bicycles, the front and rear have bright LED lights to keep the driver safe on the road from the road rage of other motorists. On the front, the flat panel display shows the map, current time, weather and battery status.

The Model B forms a bridge between conventional bicycles and road vehicles, with a design that, like cars, is designed to be safer, more efficient, and less energy-intensive. BaoPham Design’s aerodynamic e-bike is something straight out of the cyberworld of Tron.

Bicycle design concepts have a way of transporting us to our favorite sci-fi flick or parallel universe where everyone hovers instead of pedals. Whether the year is 2140 and we’re zooming through the neon streets of Tokyo to catch up to the corrupt corporate villain or fighting zombies on an electric mountain bike deep in the woods of Georgia, there’s a bike concept to fit the bill. Product designer and 3D visualizer, BaoPham Design recently unveiled their plans for an aerodynamic e-bicycle destined to hit the streets of tomorrow.

The e-bike concept from BaoPham Design features centerless wheels that reduce the rotating inertia found in heavier wheels. Equipped with slim road bike tires, BaoPham’s concept e-bike boasts an aerodynamic build that cuts out the extra drag from air pressure and skin friction to give the bike a speedy ride. Conceptualized with a swift, Z-frame, the e-bike concept from BaoPham Design would host an electric motor located in the bike’s rear-wheel rotor that would be activated once the pedals are moved.

The Z-frame of BaoPham Design’s e-bike would be constructed entirely from metal or aluminum for a sleek look and swift ride. Additionally, the hubless wheels of BaoPham Design’s e-bike reduce the rotating inertia found in wheels with spokes and a hub. The aero bike seems to be rendered in an entirely metallic or aluminum body, including everything from the handlebars to the paper-thin pedals.

3D modeled with Shapr3D and rendered in the KeyShot app, BaoPham Design imagined an aerodynamic electric city bike that enhances the bike’s essential parts and moves past the bulky components of yesterday. While it’s currently only a concept, BaoPham Design’s e-bike might not be hitting the streets anytime soon, it’s not hard to imagine a future cyber world filled with these slick aero bikes pelting down city streets and weaving through traffic.

A modular electric cargo bike to glide your load through city centers in environmentally-friendly manner

Whether you want to run errands, carry groceries home or even ride kids to school – a cargo bike can let you pull it off with all the health benefits of cycling and without burdening the environment. For their convenience on the street and the benefit of hauling heavy loads, electric cargo bikes are gaining popularity as a greener mode of transportation. Designers are doing their bit to make the space even more enthralling for customers who are now picking more electric cargo bikes than electric cars. A fact documented through research by the Two-wheel Industry Association of Germany.

These bikes with a longer wheelbase (than standard bikes) that make space for carrying cargo are donning the street in numbers. They are being billed as a viable alternative for the busy city centers and commercial hubs around the world that have begun banning gas-powered cars considering the growing air and noise pollution. When cargo bikes begin to comprise a considerable part of the traffic in city centers – quietly and in an environmentally friendly manner – a concept like the LARA cargo bike will don the scene with its modular approach.

A result of an industrial design project for an intermediate diploma, the LARA cargo bike is the brainchild of designer Alexander Kaula. It is constructed on a single frame with intelligently included mounting points that make installation of modules possible depending on the user preference. LARA opens up multiple use case possibilities, which are akin to cargo bikes, but this differs with its ability to customize. To the already interesting frame of the cargo bike, the rider can combine a loading area with a small transport box or attach additional accumulators, stands, head/tail light depending on the requirement. Interestingly there is a port to allow batteries to be replaced or more batteries can be connected to increase the bike’s range.

LARA is fitted with a tiny computing display onboard, which can read the provided information from the smart mounting points as to which module is attached or detached and configures itself accordingly. The screen also displays maximum payload, battery status, and maps for navigation amid other statistics. The bike spans a length of 2.45 with a loading area measuring approximately 1×0.6m. The bike is driven by a carbon belt that is positioned inside the rear wheel rim which also adds aesthetic appeal to the otherwise rimless wheels. The cargo bike is a greener, modular solution to hauling cargo alright, but with the possibility to add a child seat in the cargo area, it can instantly become your bike to transport kids to and back from school!
