Live streaming accessories give creators the tools to elevate their content

Streaming is big business these days to the point that some kids even declare it to be their dream job. And like any other dream job, the reality is that video streaming isn’t as easy or as magical as it sounds, at least if you’re really aiming to go pro and bring in all the views. You will need to invest in quality equipment that not only makes their work more comfortable but also makes the overall experience more enjoyable. These concept products try to do exactly that, assisting streamers to make them feel more alive, whether onscreen or especially offscreen.

It’s admittedly easy to get started in the live streaming industry. All you need is a decent camera, a reliable Internet connection, and content that will capture the attention of the fickle masses. Going viral and staying relevant, however, requires not only hard work but also tools that will help carry you through both the good times as well as the bad. Alive is a series of product design concepts that try to elevate the streaming experience and beyond, focusing on the things that help streamers stay in control all the time.

One example is a wireless streaming mic that frees you from your desk with its detachable design. While it looks like an ordinary studio mic when on its wireless charging stand, you can easily pick it up and move around without missing a beat or dropping out. It has a helpful ring indicator that quickly clues you in on the volume level without having to check your app’s or computer’s controls.

Lighting does more than just illuminate your face during streams, it can also help set the mood or even indicate your own mood. This conical desk lamp concept delivers that kind of emotional lighting but also provides direct physical controls that don’t leave you at the mercy of buggy apps and spotty network connections. Any streamer will testify to the stress and tension that occurs whenever those supposedly smart lights feel rather dumb due to those technical difficulties.

Power strips are designed to expand your wall socket, but most of them seem to still embrace the limitations of those fixed outlets. This streamer-friendly design, however, has sockets you can rotate so that they adjust to your cables and plugs, not the other way around. There’s also a section of the strip that offers battery backup to make sure critical devices stay powered up even during an emergency. These features might sound trivial, but every small thing that gives streamers peace of mind also helps them create better content.

This aroma diffuser and mood lamp in one has a trick to help you stay focused

Although they target different senses, aroma diffusers, mood lamps, and scented candles all have the same goal, to put your mind in a certain calm state. Although the direct effect is to put the mind and perhaps the body at ease, it also has some additional benefits, like improving one’s concentration or helping people become mindful of the present moment. These tools and devices, however, don’t have this kind of functionality built into their designs, and you have to make an intentional effort to associate the sensation with the mindset. This mood lamp concept, however, actually makes it a core part of its design, bringing together different sensations and cues to help develop a habit of focus and mindfulness without forcing the practice.

Designer: Gian Luigi Singh

Being mindful is one of the key techniques often given in order to develop a clear and present mind or to fight the feeling of being overwhelmed. It often involves pausing for a few moments to become aware of your surroundings and what you’re doing. This doesn’t come naturally to most of us, of course, especially when it’s so easy to get lost in what you’re doing. Focus tries to gently nudge you into that mindful state at regular intervals, and it does so using pleasing smells and sights.

Focus is a combination of an aroma diffuser and a mood lamp in the form reminiscent of a scented candle, an object that’s meant to touch those two senses. When in its “unlit” mode, it looks almost like a small wireless speaker, especially because of its black matte finish and cylindrical shape. When turned on, it uses another productivity exercise that’s designed to help you focus on the task at hand while also leaving plenty of room to take a break and become mindful.

The device follows the popular Pomodoro Technique that advocates setting aside a fixed chunk of uninterrupted time for focused work, followed by a brief period of rest before starting the next chunk. Focus has a built-in timer set to 15 minutes, and as it counts down, the light of the lamp softens and dims. Once the timer goes off, a puff of aroma is released, mimicking the last breath of a dying candle. These cues remind the person to take that Pomodoro break and appreciate the present moment.

The cadence of the Pomodoro Technique creates something almost similar to a breathing pattern, and it’s probably no coincidence that Focus indirectly makes you want to breathe in that aromatic scent as well. Even without the productivity angle, the aroma diffuser mood lamp makes for an attractive accessory on your desk or shelf, one that delights the senses to induce a feeling of peace and calm, especially after a very productive and busy day.

Clippy mood light lets you have “birds” around you

Birds are usually associated with being around nature, de-stressing, and relaxation. But if you don’t spend a lot of time outdoors or you live in an area where birds are rarely seen around your area, you probably will have to settle for watching bird videos or looking at their pictures. The other option would have to be placing accessories or bird-like things around your workspace so you’ll be reminded that there are still living things outside of your screen.

Designers: Junyoung Jang and Joonhyeok Heo

For bird lovers out there who miss having actual birds around them, Clippy is right up your birds nest. Well, it’s still a concept for now but I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes an actual product soon. It’s a clip on mood lamp that’s, you guessed it, shaped like a bird. So when you clip it to your table or couch or wherever it is that you need a bit of mood lighting, you’ll get the feeling like a bird is hanging out with you but without all the chirping that may be annoying at times.

The design is of course, inspired by actual birds. Since we’re all sort of creating our own nests of sorts either at home or in our cubicle at work, then it makes sense that we get birds to adorn them. And since we can’t get actual ones to stay there, this mood lamp may be the next best thing. Clippy is also pretty easy to bring around since it’s just meant to be clipped to a surface and there are no other things needed to make it work (well, of course, batteries).

The product renders also show Clippy in a variety of base colors like yellow, pink, orange, white, and black, with all of them having a white body where the light comes out. They can be clipped onto shelves, tables, chairs, and other furniture where a clip on can work. Just for a moment, you can fool yourself into thinking you’re outside and enjoying nature instead of being stuck indoors, working or staring into space.

Inspired by a tree branch, this humidifier doubles up as a mood lamp!

In our daily modern lives, it is very easy to find ourselves prone to stress and anxiety. And the original stress reliever of yesteryears has always been nature. In an attempt to make our everyday lives a little calmer, product designers Seungkyun Kim and Jaegon Yoo designed Branche.

Branche is a humidifier and a mood lamp, all in one! Branche takes its inspiration from nature and is, in fact, a beautiful reinterpretation of it. Branche, as its name suggests, looks exactly like the branch of the tree, with a little accompanying leaf. The branch-like portion of Branche, functions as the humidifier, with steam billowing from the top. Whereas the bottom half which holds the water, also contains the mood lamp. The mood lamp and the humidifier combined give the impression of a branch floating in the water. The lamp emanates a soft glow, calming one instantly.

You can place Branche on your work desk or in your room, and instantly experience the sensation of being close to nature. It humidifies and lights up any space it is placed in, while also retaining a subtle connection to nature! Available in neutral colors of black and white, both versions represent the different faces of nature; the icy wintery one, as well as the duskier autumn one.

Sleep better with this humidifier and mood light in one

Humidifier2 aims to introduce a calming and tranquil environment by combining two atmosphere-creating functions! Packaged within the minimal, fuss-free exterior is both a soft mood light and gentle humidifier; the pairing of these two functions aims to enhance the user’s lifestyle by making their home a more comfortable place to be.

The graceful curves are beautifully contrasted by the repetitive lines of the translucent base, which have been chosen as they elegantly diffuse the light while adding an element of interest to the product. The introduction of a mood-light wasn’t just for enhanced visuals, but also to assist the user in achieving the perfect nights sleep; the soft lighting cancels out the intimidating darkness of the night, re-introducing a sense of familiarity into the room, this combined with the humidifier that creates a comfortable climate, leads to a sleep inducing environment.
