NoonWear Ones Sunglasses Make Screens Readable in Daylight: Glare Repair
A few years ago we found out that you can obscure the content of your laptop to everyone but you by making specially polarized sunglasses. A startup called NoonWear is working on a pair of sunglasses that work similarly, but are designed to reduce glare from sunlight and other bright light sources.
NoonWear’s One sunglasses have two variants. One works best with smartphone screens, while the other works best with laptops.
Pledge at least $50 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive the laptop-compatible sunglasses as a reward; pledging at least $65 gets you the smartphone-compatible sunglasses. You can also commission prescription versions of the Ones directly from NoonWear for $300.

i-Spy Privacy Tablet: White Out
A few years ago we featured a hack that lets you keep the contents of your LCD monitor to yourself. The hack involves taking out one of the polarizers in the display and installing them into a pair of glasses. A Japanese company is hoping to profit from that exact same hack by creating an Android tablet with a similarly modified screen, as well as a modded iPad Air and a 42″ LCD monitor.
The company hasn’t released the Android tablet’s final specs yet, which kinda makes it a sketchy offer. But the important thing is that, as with the previously mentioned hack, the tablet’s screen will appear to be completely white unless you wear the polarized sunglasses, which will be included with the tablet. The tablet will also come with a case that has a polarizer – as seen in the image above – for when you want to share your tablet’s display. The modded iPad Air will also come with the sunglasses and case, while the 42″ monitor will be bundled with the sunglasses and a square meter of the polarizer.
I think it’s funny that someone is selling what is essentially a broken product. Then again the hack is quite difficult and time-consuming. Pledge at least $99 (USD) on Kickstarter to get the Android tablet. You’ll have to shell out a ridiculous $999 for the modded iPad Air and $2,999 for the monitor. Makers can also pledge $25 for a DIY kit that will let you hack one LCD monitor.

Trygger iPhone Photo Filter Ships, Promises to Improve Picture Quality
The first time we heard of the Trygger photo filter for the iPhone was last summer. The company behind the product, called BiteMyApple, announced in December of last year that it was working on version for the iPhone 5, and it is now shipping. If you’re looking for a way to improve your iPhone images, the Trygger’s polarized filter might do the trick.
The idea behind this photo filter is to help users of the iPhone take clear and vibrant photos anytime. The polarized filter removes glare from glass, water, metal, and hazy skies for richer colors and sharper images. The filter is made by placing a color neutral polarizing film between two layers of scratch resistant optical glass. The filter is also adjustable allowing the user to choose how much light is let in.
The version of the Trygger for the iPhone 5 slips onto the corner of the smartphone and sells for $39.99 (USD). They also make a version for the iPhone 4 that’s built into a case that sells for $49.99. Both versions are available in either black or white.
If the earlier images we saw are any indication of quality, it looks like it’s well worth the money.
Trygger Camera Clip Aims to Improve iPhone Photos in a Snap
Smartphones make reasonably adequate cameras, especially if all you want is to capture some photos of your family and daily life. However, one thing that iPhonetographers will quickly find limiting are the optics included in their cameras. There’s not much you can do about improving them, unless you use some sort of add-on lens or filter.
After having made a pretty useful lens filter case, which was also successfully funded through Kickstarter, Trygger is back with a clip-on filter for your iPhone 5. Unlike their previous design, this camera clip is pretty small and can easily be removed and carried in your pocket. It’s designed to help balancing out colors and improve overall image fidelity using an adjustable polarizing filter. Here are some example images with and without the filter in place (left image is the stock iPhone, the right is with the Trygger).
The image on the right definitely exhibits fewer blown-out areas, and is more pleasing to the eye. In addition to improving color and hotspots, the lens filter can all but eliminate unwanted glare off of reflective surfaces. The result is pretty impressive from the looks of this example:
The Trygger camera clip was launched as a Kickstarter crowdfunding project, and they’ve currently amassed about $2,000 out of a $10,000 goal, with about a month to go to reach their funding goal. You’ll have to pledge $30(USD) to get yours.

Trygger Polarizing Filter Case Cleans up iPhone Photos
One of the first things you learn when you get a DSLR or micro 4/3 is that most lenses need a filter to improve the quality of the photos that you take, and to protect the precious glass of your lens.
The Trygger iPhone Camera Case combines a nicely-designed case with a polarizing filter for your iPhone. The polarizing filter cleans up glare and unwanted light artifacts and will bring out the best results without using a software filter. So if you’re an iPhonetographer then you should love this.
The Trygger case is being offered through a crowd-funded Kickstarter project. You’ll have to pledge at least $35(USD) to get yours, and since the MSRP of this case will be $49.95 when it is released, that’s a great deal. At the time of writing, the project had amassed over $15,000 out of its $25,000 goal with 26 days left in funding, so there’s a good chance it’ll go into production.
