‘Super Mario Maker 2’ will offer online multiplayer with friends

For all the improvements to online features in Super Mario Maker 2, multiplayer is oddly limited -- you can play with random people on the internet, but not your friends. That won't be true forever, thankfully. Producer Takashi Tezuka has confirmed t...

Credit Card Machines Perform Super Mario Bros Theme

Yep, you’ve heard the Super Mario Bros. theme a million times. Now make it a million and ONE with this rendition performed by a couple of credit card terminals by the Device Orchestra.

It’s pretty cool and sounds authentic. One problem though. I would have programmed them to only play the thing after someone swipes their card. That’s just good capitalism. You have to pay up if you want to hear it, nerds.

It would be cool if this happened every time I went shopping. Sadly, it does not. Also, is it too much to ask that those receipts would print out a picture of a Super Mario level that you can keep as a souvenir? Come on man, step up your game. I’m just kidding. I couldn’t create something like this, so I shouldn’t judge. Credit where credit is due. Get it? Ha ha, I’m gonna deny I ever said that so that some dude on Twitter can pull up a screenshot and say, “Yes you did. I have the receipts!” Get it? I’m on fire today.

This should at least happen at the register every time you buy a Nintendo Switch. Am I right? Of course, I am. Hire me Nintendo. I’m an idea man. My next idea is lunch because I’m starving. Talk to you later.

Super Mario Bros. World 2-2 Shower Curtain: Look Out for Cheep Cheeps

It’s shower time and you know what that means. That’s right. It’s time for World 2-2 the water level. This is the perfect shower curtain for any Super Mario Bros. fan. This shower curtain looks just like the classic video game level that you know and love.

You better lather up and wash fast though, because this level only gives you 400 seconds to complete it. That’s under 7 minutes. You’ll need to watch out for those Cheep Cheeps and Bloopers too. Those Bloopers were a big pain, but otherwise, the level was pretty easy.

The shower curtain is a ThinkGeek exclusive and a officially-licensed Super Mario Bros. merch. If you want a Super Mario themed bathroom, this is a good way to start. I wonder if they have Super Mario toilet paper to go with. You’ll have to let us know about that, and everything else you find once you have redecorated the room completely. Spare no expense. Don’t be Cheep Cheep about it.

Super Mario Goomba Garden Statue: Watch Your Step!

If you need something to stomp on in your garden, this Super Mario Goomba Garden Statue is perfect. It looks just like a little Goomba from Super Mario Bros. except it stands still. Actually, don’t stomp this thing. You’ll probably break your foot since it is made of resin. And it isn’t worth any points anyway.

I don’t know about you, but I know that I’ve been saddened that I can’t grow actual fire flowers in my garden, but this Goomba will make it all better, adding just a touch of the Mushroom Kingdom to your yard. I think garden critters are much more likely to be scared by this guy than a garden gnome. I mean this looks like something that could actually eat them if they get too close. It’s those two fangs that make it look deadly. The eyebrows don’t help either. Dude just looks mean and hungry. He needs a Snickers. Thank God they get stomped easily by humans.

You can display this guy inside or outside, wherever you need a little Goomba action. He stands 8″ tall, so that’s probably about life-sized if Goombas were real. He’s the perfect addition to your Super Mario statue collection. Grab one at ThinkGeek today for $24.99.

Super Mario Fire Flower Garden Statue: No Green Thumb Required

This Super Mario Fire Flower Garden Statue is going to look great keeping watch over your garden. You never know when a plumber might happen by and need some fireballs after all.

The 12-inch resin statue weighs 3.5 pounds and is meant to be displayed in a flower bed so your neighbors can say, “Hey, I like that game too.” You can plant it indoors if you want, too, even in a dark room. The great thing about a resin plant like this is that it’s pretty much impossible to kill it from neglect. It  There’s just one sad catch. You can’t get any actual fireballs from this flower.

This is a good start, but I think you need to go full Super Mario on your garden. That means you also need some 1up mushrooms, a few coin boxes, maybe a Koopa or two, and a vine that leads into the clouds. Now that’s a garden. Even without all of those extras, this is a nice way to add some color into your garden, because let’s face it, it’s probably more of a weed patch than a garden right?

Help your garden grow today over at ThinkGeek, where you can get your own Fire Flower for just $24.99.

Artist Animates Super Mario Bros. in His Notebook

Do you love Super Mario Bros.? Then check out this very cool Super Mario Bros. level 1-1 stop motion animation that takes place entirely in a notebook. The animation was hand drawn by artist and YouTuber Kisaragi Hutae 6 and it really looks amazing.

Most of the elements like Mario, goombas, blocks, etc were made as cutouts, so he didn’t drive himself too crazy while making the video. The background was not. I can’t draw to save my life, and if I had to make a stop motion video on top of the drawing, it would look like a 3-year-old did it. Plus I don’t have the patience either, so stuff like this amazes me.

I think we have lost our sense of wonder when it comes to stuff like this. It’s really impressive when you think about it. This guy created a mini-movie/game inside of a notebook. When is the last time that you did that? You might say that Kisaragi has 1-upped you and me both with this project. Get it? That’s just a little mushroom humor from the Mushroom Kingdom.

Super Mario Party Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Bundle Comes to the U.S.

After being available overseas, Mario fans waiting for Super Mario Party and Nintendo Switch Joy-Con bundle to hit the States can finally order it on Amazon. The bundle gives you a copy of the game and some bright neon green and yellow Joy-Con controllers. They may not have images of the characters on them, but this is still a pretty cool and unique  color combo that gamers should love.

You’ll be glad to have an extra pair of Joy-Cons for playing the game with friends too, since it only supports unattached Joy-Cons. The bundle sells for $99.99 and will ship on November 16th. If you bought the game and Joy-Cons separately it would cost you an extra $27, so you’ll be saving some money. It would have been nice if the bundle had been available when Super Mario Party launched last month, but at least it is here now.

You’ll want to grab this while you can because I’m sure it won’t take long to sell out. Super Mario Party is always a lot of fun to play with friends and family. The party never truly gets started until you fire up this game.

Mario Boo Ghost Bean Bag Chair: Boo Bean

If you are a fan of all things Super Mario, I just found the perfect seat from which to play your favorites games. This is the officially licensed Super Mario Bros Boo beanbag chair and it’s just the right throne for Super Mario fans.

Sadly it doesn’t play dead until you look away, then come up behind you so you can sit down. That would have been cool. The technology is almost there. I’m sure of it. This comfy ghost chair will cost you around $140, and measures about 38″ wide x 28″ tall x 38″ deep. Wait. That’s not big at all. How small is that child?

I was hoping this was a boo that I could sink into and relax. Oh well. If you are a tiny person, you’ll find this ghost more comfortable I guess. Myself? I demand a giant Boo bean bag chair. And not because I have to go on a diet either. I just like big Boos and I can not lie.

Boo is one of Mario’s cutest enemies. He’s supposedly a bad guy, but really he just wants to snuggle. And he’s shy. That’s why he freezes if you’re looking at him. This ghost is totally misunderstood.

Super Mario Question Block and Chain Chomp Lamps Light Up the Mushroom Kingdom

Are you a Nintendo freak? Then you probably have spent your fair share of time with Mario and his pals. Now, you can bring a little bit of the Mushroom Kingdom to your own kingdom with this duo of fun lamps from ThinkGeek.

First up is this clever Question Block table lamp, which features a 7-7/8″ cube floating above a green base. The neat part is the pull chain, which has Mario at the end, so it looks like he’s flying through the air and ready to knock the snot out of that cube. Will gold coins come out, or maybe a 1up ‘shroom?

If you like to keep your friends close and your enemies closer, then you might want to grab the Chain Chomp task lamp too. This 18-3/4″ tall desk lamp looks just like that evil ball and chain, as it rears up, ready to attack. But that power star you just collected from the question block is no match for this thing, and you can speed right past it without flinching.

Both lamps are available for pre-order now from ThinkGeek. The Question Block lamp is going for $59.99(USD), while the Chain Chomp lamp is $49.99.

Mario’s Lost Kart Turns up in a Junkyard

Nukazooka created this fun short film titled Mario’s Lost Kart. The video is about a guy who purchases an old go kart from a junkyard after his ride breaks down. What he doesn’t realize is that the kart once belonged to Mario.

Along the way, he accidentally shoots another car with a turtle shell, and really pisses Luigi off. And when Mario shows up looking for his kart, he isn’t happy to find out that the junkyard guy sold it. So naturally he torches the junkyard with a fireball.

The clip left me wanting a real Mario Kart movie. Said movie should be like Cannonball Run, but with Nintendo characters. Get on that filmmakers.
