Star Wars Trench Run LEGO Sculpture: Stay on Target!

This animated LEGO scene depicts Darth Vader’s TIE fighter chasing Luke’s X-wing during the Death Star trench run in A New Hope. It is both calming and mesmerizing. Jason Allemann built this kinetic sculpture and it is a super cool desk toy that I need in my life.

Jason used moving LEGO Technic parts that are hidden just below the surface to make the ships rock back and forth. There are also a pair of ion cannons that move as he turns the crank. I just love this piece. It’s so simple and elegant. You might say it’s a LEGO build for a more civilized age.

The model is an alternate version of another set, “Pursuit of Flight,” that Allemann has shared to the LEGO Ideas site. That sculpture has a pair of WW1 fighter planes instead of Star Wars ships.

Actually, idea would work for any ship chasing another. You could have a jet chasing a UFO, or the Enterprise chasing a Klingon ship and so on. Maybe he could make it so you can replace the ships at will. There’s no doubt about it, Jason is super talented and has an amazing geek mind.

This Star Wars X-Wing Pen Costs Over $1800, Astromech Not Included

As far as fancy pens go, I can’t think of anything geekier than this S.T. Dupont Star Wars X-Wing rollerball pen. Or more expensive, but we’ll get to that. This is a beautiful desk accessory for the wealthy. I know what you’re thinking – how can you write with this pen? Wouldn’t the wings get in the way and give me some wrist ailment if I tried?

It’s all good. See, it starts off as a regular pen and when you are finished with your important rich people busy work and want to have a toy to play with, you add the wings and other parts on.

Think of it as part pen, part model that you can build. This is the deluxe version of the pen and it has 13 different pieces that you have to piece together. Those pieces all come in a schmancy black lacquered wood box, lined with suede, of course.

If you have a spare $1,835.46(USD) you can pick one up here. Just 1977 of these pens are being made, so if you’ve got the money, you’d better move fast.

These Star Wars Motorcycle Helmets Will Protect You on Trench Runs

The folks over at HJC make some very cool motorcycle helmets, and now, they are offering a series of officially licensed Star Wars helmets. So now when you ride your motorcycle, you can pretend you are in a spaceship and really look the part.

They are offering three new styles: An open-face X-Wing Pilot helmet, and full-face Boba Fett and Kylo Ren helmets. That X-Wing helmet looks damn good, but don’t be tempted to put some actual wings on your bike. That won’t end well, but I bet you can dock an Artoo unit behind you somewhere to help you navigate.

Hot Wheels Creates Real Life X-Wing Race Car

Check out this one-of-a-kind Star Wars X-Wing Fighter vehicle from Hot Wheels. It’s full size, mind you. Not a tiny toy. It is currently on display at San Diego Comic-Con.

Wow. Just wow. The only problem I see is that the thing probably cost more money than that most humans could ever afford, but that’s okay.

I mean, it doesn’t even have a working Astromech Droid and doesn’t even get off the ground anyway. I’m just trying to put a positive spin on it. I’m actually very sad I can’t buy this. Guess I’ll just have to settle for the miniature version Hot Wheels is selling instead.

Now all we need is a TIE Fighter car to chase this thing.

X-Wing Pilot Motorcycle Jacket: Stay on Target

CharlieMcN33l has two great loves in his life: Star Wars and his Harley. He has even customized special Star Wars helmets for himself. So naturally when he started using his X-Wing pilot helmet, he need a matching flight jacket to go with it.

xwing_jacket_1zoom in

Charlie usually wears a Carhartt Duck Detroit or a MA-1 Bomber when he rides, so he incorporated these into the new jacket, which is 60% X-Wing flight jacket, 30% Carhartt jacket, and 10% MA-1 Bomber jacket. He’s an amateur tailor, so it was probably easier for him to make this than it would be for us.

The jacket is based on screenshots of the X-wing pilot jacket that Luke wore in The Empire Strikes Back. Now Charlie just needs an X-Wing inspired motorcycle.

Stay on Target with These Crocheted X-Wing Fighter Blankets

These crocheted X-wing Fighter blankets are awesome. They not only look like X-Wing fighters and are warm and cozy, but you can also crawl inside! A blanket that is also a ship that you can pilot? Count me in. Pew pew pew! Stay on target.

They were designed and crafted by Michelle of MJ’s Off The Hook Designs. Just feed your legs into the body of the X-wing and you can keep your hands warm in the engine pockets. But wait! No Astromech pillow behind you? That’s cool. I would just be happy to climb in and flap my arms while I pretend to assault the Death Star.

If you think you want to make this and support the rebel cause you can find the pattern HERE. Best blanket ever!

X-Wing Rocking Horse: Lock S-Foils in Rock Position

The Rebel forces finally have a vehicle to match kid Darth Vader’s AT-AT rocking horse. DeviantArt member StevesWoodenToys made this “Rocking Ride-in Spaceship”, aka a freakin’ awesome X-wing rocking horse.

The toy measures about 45″ long, 47″ wide and 25″ tall and comes with a removable 12″ R2-D2. StevesWoodenToys can also unbolt the wings to make it easier to transport the toy.

Kids’ Star Wars TIE Fighter and X-Wing Cosplay

This cosplay reminds us of the kid in all of us when it comes to Star Wars. This is how we felt as kids when we first saw those movies and this is the kind of thing we did. Kids don’t need a huge budget to have fun. Just some cardboard and their imaginations.

This adorable cosplay was part of the 2014 Global Cardboard Challenge inspired by Caine’s Arcade. In this annual event, kids come up with a cool way to use cardboard and recycled materials.

I think it’s safe to say that these kids were the best with their X-Wing and TIE fighter cardboard outfits. The X-Wing even has a helmet made with paper plates and an R2 unit in the back. I know what they are going to be this Halloween.

It doesn’t get more badass than an X-Wing made out of knives

x-wing-knife-block

Silverware doesn’t really scream “cool” or “geeky” when you think about it, but after fusing that with Star Wars, you would be surprised by how much you may change your mind.

You don’t need a Jedi pilot to slice those cucumbers! The Star Wars X-Wing Knife Block is a set of silverware themed after the X-Wing Fighters we’ve seen and loved in the original Star Wars trilogy. You may pre-order it now, as it’s an official piece of merch, too!

Few things sound as terrifying as a flying set of knives, but hey, that’s nothing the force can’t control, anyways.
