Custom Star Trek USS Dragon-1 PC: To Boldly Game

I like it when people cram powerful gaming hardware inside a cool and custom built computer case. Fans of PC gaming and Star Trek will want to lust after this custom gaming rig. It’s made to look like a shuttle from Star Trek: Voyager.

This impressive build is completely custom and was made by Stefan Ulrich of Random Design. He spent over 200 hours building the system, most notably the case, which he hand-sculpted from styrofoam, body filler, and fiberglass.

The brightly-lit machine is liquid-cooled and has an Intel i7 6700K processor, 32GB of RAM, 240Gb SSd, and a GTX 980 Ti video card. The only thing I love as much as a cool custom PC is a build video that shows what went into the beast, so here you go:

Kniterate Brings Industrial-Style Personalized Knitwear To The Home

It’s one thing to learn how to sew, and it’s quite another to be able to customize the fabric with which you put your garments together. Up until now, if you wanted a particular pattern of material, you’d either have to crochet the darn thing, or pore over heaps of catalogues in the hopes to find what suits you. The Kniterate is a knitting machine that accepts pretty much any design you can throw at it, and recreates it for you in real life. You can either pick your patterns from pre-made templates, or create your own These then get output onto a knitting bed that’s 29 inches wide. The stitch density can easily be changed and up to 6 spools of yarn allow for extremely colorful patterns.

Granted, even though you can have this at home, with a starting price of $4,600 it’s not for the casual designer. If you’re building your design studio and wish to stand out early on though, you might want to give this a good look.

Make Your Own Custom Batman Guitar: The DIY Knight

If you have ever wanted to rock out on a custom Batman guitar, you can try your hand at making one like this. Imgur user DarrynStead has provided an overview of the process. You just need the skill (or Lucius Fox) to actually build it for you.

The guitar is shaped like the Bat-symbol and on the back it has some cool artwork featuring the Caped Crusader. If Batman played guitar, he would love this instrument.

It turned out perfect. And if he ever found himself up against a tough foe and ran out of batarangs, he could always hit the guy over the head with this thing too.

Look Good While You Feel Good

It’s so easy to go out and spend a fortune on a really good-looking pair of shoes. The pair that is in style. Something you will feel fancy wearing, but your feet won’t be feeling so special. That’s one of the double-edged swords of a really cool pair of shoes – sacrificing functionality for fashion.

Shah Goren, a designer from Holon Institue of Technology in Israel has come up with the idea to design custom-made sandals that are not only fashionable, but stylish too. Goren, like many of us, have seen how easy it is to buy shoes in our “shoe size” but because of the structure of our feet are unique to us as individuals, it really isn’t a “one size fits all in that size” world. Goren’s idea sees making customized orthotics a solution to this problem.

By taking a 3D scan of the foot at the shoe store the customer then chooses the shoe they would like. This scan is then digitally processed at the warehouse, to a CAD file of custom made orthotics. The factory then produces the orthotics, which are then created by a C.N.C. machine automatically. Then within a few days, the shop receives the orthotics for easy placement into the new sandals. Quick, stylish and a customer who feels and looks great at the same time.

The first design idea created by Goren is a sandal collection for women. The sandals include three unique designs. Each design is made from leather for the upper part of the sandal. The footplate consists of two parts – A rubber sole which is formed using injection molding, and the custom made orthotic. The orthotic is made out of polypropylene which is long lasting, but also flexible. The later and the sole are stitched together in a way that is stylish, allowing for the easy insertion of the orthotic. At the heel of the shoe, there is a snap that allows for easy connection of the orthotic to the sole of the shoe. Talk about some fancy, happy feet.
