More than a Door
Whether you’re leaving or staying, the front door is usually your first and last point of contact with your home… so why shouldn’t it be as multifunctional and helpful as say, your smartphone?
Introducing, the Smart Door. It’s designed to keep homeowners safe from break-ins, fire, and other accidents. In addition, it incorporates weather and thermal sensors; it is integrated with thermal and video cameras. This door reminds the owners to take an umbrella if it is raining or give a simple reminder if there is to be a change in weather. Smart Door also watches over those who are inside and watches out for those outside. It knows its owners, differentiates between pets and can even be used to set reminders for dog walking.
With a mobile phone or a tablet application, one can use the system to control and monitor the house. The basic functions include: a safety lock, full length camera view of visitors, a protection system for children, a full report on the movements in and around the house, and more. Coolest of all, changeable Smart Door designs and colors to customize your entrance!
Smart Door is a 2015 Red Dot Award: Design Concept winner.

Double Locked for Sure
Merging the two-step security measure of locking and chaining the main door into one, the Let Me In – Door Handle is a clever piece of work. Should we use this? Absolutely! Sleek, minimal and definitely urging you to use the chain mechanism, the designer has craftily reinterpreted the value of a door handle. Bolt, chain and lock – all at one go!

DIY Fallout Vault Door: A Pre Nuclear Role Playing Structure
Redditor BIG_HAIRY_AZZZ – I bet he didn’t think he’d go viral when he came up with that name – has been working on a Fallout-themed game room and office for about a month. He recently shared one of its highlights: the door to the room, which looks like the one on Vault-Tec Vaults.
BIG_HAIRY_AZZZ probably didn’t want to make or have an actual steel vault door, so he made one out of wood. To open it, he pulls it out of the doorway and rolls it aside; the beams on the ceiling and floor keep it from falling off.
Here’s more shots of the door:
By the way, BIG_HAIRY_AZZZ’s eventual game room/office may not have room for hundreds of people, but he says it’s a 1000 sq.ft. room. So for some of us – myself included – it might as well be a Vault.

Keyless Entry at Home
The E-Lock is a different approach to the traditional door handles we have in our homes today yet greatly resembles one. The design is meant to give easy access to your home in situations where your hands might be occupied. No more fumbling with keys or dropping your groceries to get in! When approaching the door, simply wave your e-key to the sensor to unlock and just give it a push to gain access. It’s easy access without sacrificing security or style!
