FTL Marriage Proposal: Faster Than Love
The only thing that occurs in FTL: Faster Than Light more often than branching dialogues is agonizing defeat. So credit Redditor oft_wears_hats for using the game to propose. He made a custom patch for the game and applied it on his girlfriend’s copy while she was taking a bath. Here’s the first option that appears in oft_wears_hats’ patch:
Picking the first option – which was what oft_wears_hats’ girlfriend did – yields the proposal itself:
Fortunately, she said yes. However, if there’s one thing that FTL teaches us it’s to be prepared for unforeseen events. So oft_wears_hats made additional dialogue options in the event that his girlfriend picked no:
You can check out all of the dialogue options on oft_wears_hats’ Imgur album. Congrats guys! May your shields always be up and your clones be healthy.
3D Printed FTL: Faster Than Light Kestrel Model: Rebel Piñata
Ah, the Kestrel. The red shirt of spaceships. Its crew has two equally horrifying nightmares: one is a looping animation of the ship being torn apart, and the other is a cursor hovering over “Restart.” Let us remember the fallen – and make a note to level up the damned doors on the next run – with this 3D printed model of FTL: Faster Than Light‘s default cruiser.
Leon Coetzee took care of modeling, Monique Harmon had the painting job, Riley Jamison handled the photography and Tyler Hymanson masterminded the art direction. In other words, no one was piloting and these guys are dead now.
Jump to TheLobstersClaw’s Imgur page to see making-of images of the model. If you want your own 3D printed Kestrel, a seller on Shapeways has a much simpler take on the ship, along with a few other FTL spacecraft.

Latest Humble Bundle brings Fez and Mark of the Ninja to Mac and Linux
We've seen the Humble Bundle be used to introduce some big games to new platforms in the past, and the latest offering is no exception. The 9th edition of the Indie Bundle sees both indie game favorite Fez and Mark of the Ninja making their debut on Mac and Linux. Along with those, you'll get FTL: Faster Than Light, Trine 2 and Brutal Legend, plus the beta version of Eets Munchies, which is making its debut on all three platforms. As usual, you can pay whatever you like for the bundle and choose how much goes to the developers and charities (EFF, Child's Play and Watsi), but you'll have to pay more than the average to get Fez and FTL. Those not up on their indie gaming can get a taste of what's in store in the video after the break -- just don't get your hopes up for a Fez sequel if you like what you find.

FTL: Faster Than Light LEGO Set Proposal Must Not Be Scrapped
The rogue-like space sim FTL: Faster Than Light is a game that may not have existed if not for Kickstarter and the backers that funded its developer Subset Games. How appropriate – and perilous – is it that the fate of its merchandise should also be decided by the support of the masses?
The FTL: Faster Than Light LEGO set was conceptualized by Crashsanders and GlenBricker. It started when Crashsanders built a LEGO version of the starter ship Kestrel and posted it on the FTL forums. It was received warmly and not shot down by Rebels, so Crashsanders put together a proposal on LEGO Cuusoo. Aside from the Kestrel, his proposal includes the Engi Stealth Cruiser, the Mantis Cruiser as well as minifigs of the game’s races. It seems like he’ll design more ships as more people vote for the proposal.
I know that the game absolutely hates our guts and always wants us to fail, but come on, admit it: you love it anyway. So vote for it on LEGO Cuusoo! Otherwise I’ll board your house and set fire to your Oxygen systems. Subset Games itself supports the proposal. Although instead of supporting proposals I wish they’d spend their time porting FTL to tablets. Come on guys, you’re guaranteed make millions. Or at least $9.99.
