VolleBak’s superior solar-charged glowing jacket gives you increased visibility

When VolleBak claims to have made their most advanced jacket yet, it isn’t hyperbole. It’s literally worth taking a closer look at because VolleBak doesn’t mess around. They’ve invented some of the most revolutionary jackets of our time, including a jacket so incredibly durable that it can be worn on Mars.

Meet the Solar Charged Jacket, the piece of apparel that VolleBak claims is their most advanced product yet. Named as TIME magazine’s Best Inventions of 2018 and as Sports Gear of the Year by WIRED, the Solar Charged Jacket is a highly light-sensitive and responsive jacket that acts as a windbreaker 24 hours a day, but when brought into a low-light setting, shines with enough intensity to make its wearer completely visible in darkness. Designed ideally for bikers, joggers, and anyone who may need high-visibility at night, the Solar Charged Jacket has a special phosphorescent coating that can capture any light, be it from your smartphone’s flash to the sun, and release it in the dark for as long as 12 whole hours.

Unlike most jackets that come with reflective strips or patches, VolleBak’s entire jacket is completely luminous, and even comes with its own glowing hood, giving you the dual advantage of protection from the elements, and high visibility. The Solar Charged Jacket comes constructed from a 3-layer stretchable, waterproof, and breathable fabric, and does a remarkably clever job of layering the phosphorescent layer under a transparent waterproof membrane, making the jacket easily washable without any danger of the jacket losing its glow properties. Use it while riding a bike, taking a jog, or just get creative by using a flashlight to write messages in light on your jacket!

Microsoft Outs New Glow-in-the-Dark Xbox One Controller

If you’re in the market for a new Xbox One controller, Microsoft has unveiled a cool new Xbox One controller that glows in the dark. This is part of a promotion for an upcoming game titled “Sea of Thieves”. Whether you end up playing the game or not, it would be sweet to have a glow-in-the-dark controller right? We love things that glow – except for nuclear radiation. That’s not so good. The obvious drawback is if you don’t play games in the dark, then you can’t enjoy those sweet glowing features.

Seriously though, aside from being glowy, it also looks pretty cool. The paint job is all translucent purple with flecks of green paint and “laser-etched barnacles”. One of the triggers is gold and the left control stick has a compass design. It seems like the perfect controller for a modern pirate cruising the high seas of Microsoft’s console. The other advantage here is that you can find your Xbox One controller more easily in the dark.

This controller is a limited edition and you can get it on February 15th, 2018. The actual game arrives on March 20th.

Glow-in-the-Dark Carbon Fiber Rings Is Modern Jewelry at Its Best

Other than tradition, there’s really no reason that jewelry has to be made from precious metals and gemstones. Personally, I’d rather wear one of these slick glow-in-the-dark rings, fabricated from carbon fiber.

Israel-based Composite Corporation handmakes these rings using carbon fiber and composite materials, along with epoxy resin, and a special phosphorescent powder. The resulting pieces look super cool day or night. When the lights are on, you see that sleek and technical carbon fiber texture, when they’re off, they glow quite brilliantly.

The rings’ makers don’t specify how long you need to charge them, or how long they glow, but there are phosphorescent powders out there that can last anywhere from 15 minutes to 15 hours, depending on the color, so I’m guessing the same applies here. Greens have a tendency to glow longest, followed by blues, with yellows and reds having the shortest glow times.

They’re available in a variety of designs and colors over on their Etsy shop, with prices starting at $79(USD), and each one can be custom ordered to your exact ring size.

These Glow-in-the-Dark LEGO Builds will Blow Your Mind

Cool LEGO builds are one thing, but when they glow in the dark and look otherworldly, that’s taking it to a whole other level. Take Beyond the Brick’s video tour of the all the glow-in-the-dark builds on display in the black light ‘LEGO Glow Zone’ at Philly Brick Fest 2017 and prepare to be impressed.

It is cool to know that you can build a giant glowing city out of LEGO, but the phosphorescent creatures are the best, like the jellyfish and Cthulhu. In fact, that glowing Cthulhu is downright frightening.

The whole place looks like a LEGO factory after a nuclear meltdown. Everything is glow-some!

Glowing Constellation Dress Will Make You a Super Star

This is a very cool dress. It’s varying shades of blue and black and has stars all over it. In fact some of these stars make constellations. What makes it extra cool is that the constellations glow in the dark when the lights are off. It might be bright enough to keep you from getting run over at night, but I wouldn’t risk it. Maybe if you wore a hat with black lights on it, but only then.

It’s an above-the-knee dress, and made from 100% cotton with a zipper in the back and one of those keyholes that produces some really weird tan lines. In other words, you might want to be careful if you try and charge up the glowy bits by standing in the bright sun.

You can get the constellation dress over at ThinkGeek for $49.99.

This Hot Wheels Nightmare Is a Fever Dream

The group at 5 Mad Movie Makers have created something truly stunning here. They captured POV footage of a Hot Wheels car racing through a magical world of colorful lights, glow sticks, and deadly fire. It is appropriately titled Hot Wheels Nightmare.

It is visually stunning to watch this car on its sometimes psychedelic journey through rings of light and fire. It is very reminiscent of moments from 2001: A Space Odyssey, only with Hot Wheels. Check it out:

There’s no telling where the track will go next. Filmed with a Sony VG30H and a GoPro Hero Session 4 mounted on a Bull Whip car. Built with Hot Wheels track, unit blocks, Tinkertoys, lighter fluid, kerosene, lamp wicks, wire, rain gutters, plastic garden edging, LED lights, and lasers.

The Splashlight Squirt Gun Shoots Glow-in-the-dark Water

SplashLight is the water gun leveled up. It shoots out glow-in-the-dark water that will leave your enemies looking like they have been slimed by a ghost.

splashlight_1
You might be thinking that you need to mix up special ammo to arm it up with glowing water. Nope. It actually loads up with bioluminescent fuel that mixed with the water before it leaves the gun’s nozzle, thereby turning ordinary water into a glowing liquid that will make for some awesome looking nighttime squirt gun battles.

splashlight_2

The bioluminescent fuel comes in pill form, which you just pop in a chamber. Each reload of the fuel lasts for 200 blasts, so you’ll go through a lot of them. It also works as a regular water gun if you run out, firing at targets up to 12 feet away.

The SplashLight is $24.95(USD), and includes two glowing fuel reloads. Additional two-packs go for $9.95, so this could get expensive depending on how much you use it.
