Making Hairdryer Portability a Breeze
There is nothing more frustrating than stepping out of the shower in a hotel and attempting to dry your hair with their hairdryer, which has the same effect as having someone blow on your hair for an hour. However, bringing your own hairdryer takes up too much space in your bag. It’s this reason alone that Seongkyeong Son and Sungwoo Park set out to develop something that was not only space saving but challenged the conventional hairdryer grip too. Through this, Pebble was born. Pebble’s design is precisely what you’d expect from its name – smooth curves and a soft design aesthetic, complimenting the shape of the hand. The concept of merging the handle with the device is very interesting – giving the user complete control over the product, enabling them to use it in whichever form they find most comfortable.

What if a Coffee brand made Hairdryers?
For men?? It seems to be hairdryer week here at Yanko, but I’m not complaining! Let’s focus on the title again. It seems absurd for Nescafe Dolce Gusto (a coffee machine series) to suddenly make hairdryers, and that too exclusively for men. This, however, is a clever exercise practiced by designers who try to channel a brand’s ‘visual semantics’ into their products (Visual semantics is all about those visual elements that make a product belong to a brand. You could instantly recognize a Nivea product even if Nivea weren’t written on it).
The Nescafe Dolce Gusto hairdryer does its job of channeling the brand’s design language into a product that seems unthinkable in relation to the brand. That’s the challenge. With its bold Black vs Metallic color palette (and a signature hint of red), the concept hairdryer captures the brand colors really well. Even the usage of spherical elements in the design seems to echo with Dolce Gusto’s style… and what better way to end it than with a few delicious looking color variants?!

The Must-have Hairdryer
Set to arrive at Hilton and Peninsula hotels in the near future, Column is the hippest hairdryer out there. The upright design solves the problem of poor space efficiency found with other bulky, cumbersome (and just plain ugly) hairdryers. Minimalistic and sleek, it saves space and looks great for discerning guests…. keyword: guests. Too good to be true!
