RAmos W42 tablet boasts quad-core Exynos chip, sells for around $200

RAmos W42 tablet boasts quadcore Exynos chip, sells for around $200

It's been a long, long while since we last heard about RAmos 'round here, but that doesn't mean the Chinese company isn't trying to remain relevant in the electronics game. As such, we're more than happy to tell you about the outfit's newest Android slate, the 9.4-inch RAmos W42, which is powered by a wallop of Ice Cream Sandwich, Mali-400 GPU and a Samsung-made quad-core processor -- more specifically, it's the Exynos 4412. Other tablet specs include a not-too-shabby 1,280 x 800 IPS display, 1GB RAM, 16GB of built-in storage (expandable by way of microSD) and the now-accustomed front and rear cameras. The W42 appears to be up for grabs at e-tailers like the one linked below for about 200 bucks -- now, with some great options around that same price, only time will tell whether or not folks are tempted by this very one.

MetroPCS intros 4-inch ZTE Avid 4G, brings LTE and ICS for a mere $149

MetroPCS intros 4inch ZTE Avid 4G, brings LTE and ICS for a mere $149

Despite announcing a couple of budget-friendly handset options in recent months, it's clear MetroPCS doesn't plan to stay put, as the company today let it be known that it's making yet another addition to its affordable Android lineup. And while the newfangled Avid 4G will come on the cheap, it could still be seen as a much better choice than that other pricier ZTE offering on MetroPCS -- albeit the former is carrying a slightly smaller 4-inch, 800 x 480 display, though it does come with a similar (unspecified) 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and a much fresher version of Google's OS (Ice Cream Sandwich). In addition, ZTE's Avid 4G also features a 5-megapixel camera on the back (VGA on the front), the ability to turn into a mobile hotspot with a few extra bucks per month and, naturally, LTE connectivity. For the relatively small amount of $149, and without any contracts attached, it wouldn't surprise us if the new Wireless for All smartphone on the block ends up gift wrapped in some places come next week's festivities. Speaking of which, folks interested can snag the Avid 4G now from the carrier's site, otherwise a quick trip to the nearest MetroPCS retail store should suffice.

Samsung’s SCH-W2013 is a quad-core, dual-screen flip phone, designed for Jackie Chan

Samsung's quadcore, dualscreen flip phone SCHW2013 designed for Jackie Chan

It's been almost a year since the ridiculously expensive SCH-W999 launched on China Telecom, so it's about time for Samsung to come up with yet another dual-screen flip phone to lure folks with too much money. Launched in conjunction with a big charity concert (again) earlier today is the SCH-W2013, a 1.4GHz quad-core (likely an Exynos 4412) device with Android 4.0 and dual-3.7-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED touchscreens. On top of that there's 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD expansion of up to 64GB, 1,850mAh of battery juice, an eight-megapixel main imager plus a whopping 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. As with many flagship devices on China Telecom, the W2013 comes with dual-SIM support: one for CDMA2000 800/1900 and the other for GSM 900/1800/1900. The damage? Well, there's nothing official yet, but it's believed to be somewhere between ¥18,000 ($2,900) and ¥20,000 ($3,210). After all, it ain't cheap to hire Jackie Chan (and he was also given a W2013 at the concert).

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with LTE now available at Verizon, $500 sans contract

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 101 with LTE no available at Verizon, yours for $500

Been clamoring for a Samsung Galaxy 2 10.1 with LTE? While you may have known about Sprint's variant which launched 10 days ago, Verizon is now laying claim to the tablet as well. Big Red's model will cost you a cool $500 ($150 than its 7-inch sibling) with "month-to-month service" that'll run you between $30 for 4GB of data to $60 for 10GB. Details on the slate's internals are light, but you can expect it to be loaded with Android 4.0 and 8GB of flash storage (expandable to 64GB via microSD) -- whether this one has the beefed-up 1.5GHz dual-core CPU like Sprint's remains to be seen, but it is 50 dollars less. Verizon's listing the 10-incher as being ready to ship by the 26th, so hit up the source links below if it's up your alley.
