Back to the Fury Road

All Hollywood seems to know how to do these days is make remakes, reboots, rehashes, and retreads. One of the movies that they haven’t touched yet is Back to the Future, and they must never be allowed to soil this classic franchise. BUT if they do, there is only one way I will accept it. If they have Marty hitting 88 mph and landing right in the middle of the desert, in a Mad Max car chase. Anything else is just BS.

This ten-second mashup is all the storyboard you Hollywood cretins need, so either leave BTTF alone or make this happen. In this clip from SirSoliloquy, Marty McFly from Back To The Future III accidentally time-travels into a scene from Mad Max: Fury Road. And you know that Marty would rule in this world because his car only needs trash for fuel. He’ll have a whole world of trash. And I’m not just talking about the bad guys.

Then we could have some sequels where Marty has a dingo, and another where Marty has to fight in Thunderdome. Eventually, Marty would meet Rick and Morty. Get on this Hollywood, I’ve just handed you the keys to the kingdom. I’m here waiting patiently.

Star Wars + Stranger Things = Star Things

I’ve made it very clear that i am a huge fan of Stranger Things on Netflix. It’s hands-down the best show that Netflix has ever made, and makes their other shows look dowdy by comparison. It helps that as a child of the ’80s I can very much relate to all the things the kids were into.

Artist Michael Maher Jr has created a cool poster that envisions the kids from Stranger Things as cast members of the original Star Wars trilogy. It’s awesome.

You’ll notice that Dustin isn’t pictured – instead Chewie is wearing the kid’s trucker hat. Dustin’s curly hair does remind me a bit of a wookiee, so I guess that makes sense.

Deal: Da Vinci Ewok T-Shirt

Despite their size, Ewoks are crafty little characters. Remember some of the contraptions they came up with to crush and destroy those AT-ST walkers? So you might wonder if maybe the fuzzy little guys were related to Leonardo Da Vinci.

This fun t-shirt imagines an Ewok at Da Vinci’s iconic Vitruvian Man, only shorter, furrier, and without his junk hanging in the wind. Drop by the Technabob Shop today and grab one for $17.99(USD) – 28% off the regular price.

Foot Darts Is a Mashup of Soccer and Darts

It’s kind of amazing that we still keep coming up with new sports. Foot Sports UK has invented a fun new sport called Foot Darts. It is basically a combination of soccer and darts.

foot_darts_1zoom in

The idea is that you kick a velcro-covered soccer ball against a 23-foot high inflatable dartboard. Just like in a typical game of darts, the spot that your ball hits determines the number of points you get. You can even kick from an elevated platform if you have trouble kicking to get more vertical.

It looks like a lot of fun, and a good way to practice your goal-kicking aim. I would definitely play this game. It looks way more fun than either sport by itself.

Star Kart Mixes Mario Kart and Star Wars

I loved Mario Kart back in the day, but boy could the game piss me off. Getting nailed with a turtle shell and off the track waiting for a tow that seemed to take forever was a ticket to throw-the-controller-land. Fans of Mario Kart and Star Wars will want to check out this fun video by Dark Pixel.

star-kart-tbzoom in

It mixes Mario Kart gameplay and tracks with Star Wars spaceships and locations. The result is a very cool mashup that has Mario and crew racing in X-Wings and TIE fighters. They pick up power-ups like turtle shells, boosts, and others that they can fling about.

The video looks very nice and I can’t help but expect this to draw the ire of Disney or Nintendo legal. Watch the video while you can, I expect a cease and desist to pull the video down at any moment. Then, expect them to come out with a game you can pay them money for sometime in 2018.

NES Retro Subway Maps: DC Metroid

Creative director Matthew Stevenson said that when they were kids, he and his brother were frustrated by the confusing maze that is Metroid. Recently the title’s pun with the DC Metro came to his mind, and with it his childhood frustration. That prompted him to make a map of the game using DC’s subway as a template. He had so much fun that he ended up making a total of six maps based on NES games.

The Zelda II and Maniac Mansion maps are my favorite. I know that the New York subway’s layout is a mess, but I’m still surprised at how badly that mashup turned out. Then again, it is better than the game’s actual map. You can order prints of the maps from Matthew’s RedBubble store for $10 to $28 (USD) depending on the size. He also sells the maps’ 300dpi JPEGs and full EPS vector files on his Etsy store for $5 each.

Even Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima approved of his new recruit, retweeting Bezzle-ution’s shot of the t-shirt.

Incidentally, as of this writing that’s the only tweet that Bezzle-ution has sent. Perhaps he’s also Mdk7?
