Pins Collective Digital Pin Shows Digital Images: The Dankest of Pins

In the past couple of years we’ve seen the rise of large digital picture frames, which try to justify their exorbitant prices with a gallery of curated images. A company called Pins Collective is doing the same thing from the opposite end of the spectrum with its wearable backlit LCD display.

The Digital Pin’s LCD measures 1.3″ and displays up to 262,000 colors. The pin lasts up to 74h when it’s showing a still image, and 2.5h when displaying your favorite animated gif.

You’ll be able to download, create and send images to the pin via its iOS and Android apps.

When it launches, the Digital Pin will be just that – a pin with a digital display on it. But Pins Collective promised that it will launch an SDK so that developers can come up with new applications for the pin.

Like its huge siblings, the biggest drawback with the Digital Pin is its price. As of this writing, you’ll need to pledge at least $59 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive the pin as a reward. That’s crazy expensive for a single button, but that’s the price we need to pay to be able to wear Krumping Marge, Pepes and Crying MJs.

Is it a pin? Is it a clip?

Face it. It’s New Year’s Eve. Youre going to have an absolute blast. And you’re going to have loads of photos to prove it. You’re going to need the Easy-Pins to pin those photos to your soft board.

The Easy-Pin is the awesome thumbtack you’re waiting for. It doesn’t perforate or damage your photos, just gently clips on to them. Not to mention, you don’t need nails to pull these pins out of boards too. Their easy design allows them to be yanked out with ease!

Designers: Christopher Gu, Yin-Kai Lee and Szu-Hsin Wang.

Mondo Clones Jurassic Park’s Icons and Revives Them as Pins

Pop culture purveryor Mondo dusted off a handful of icons and drawings from the film Jurassic Park and will be releasing them today as limited edition enamel pins. There are four designs: the movie’s logo, Mr. DNA, InGen’s logo and an insect preserved in amber.

Screw InGen, I’d rather have a Nedry pin. The pins cost $10 (USD) each. They should be available from Mondo’s store any time now.

The Pin Pen

The first of its kind, Poppin is a push-pin dispenser inspired by the writing pen that makes it easier than ever to tote and place pins on bulletin boards. Simply load pins into the device, throw it in your backpack, and grab it when needed as the pins will be automatically aligned and ready for use. Accurate and ergonomic, it’s a total finger-saver!

Handheld & Computer Wars Veteran Pins: Blood, Sweat & Pixels

We’ve featured Supermandolini’s Console Wars Veteran Pins. But of course battles are fought on other platforms as well, which is why the studio also made Computer Wars Veteran Pins, for the master race’s grizzled combatants.

Meanwhile, Supermandolini’s latest gaming-themed pin is for field agents, those who were first to stack blocks, wake Link and collect ‘em all.

Papers, Please Arstotzka Inspector Pin: Glory to Arstotzka!

Lucas Pope’s Papers, Please is one of the most serious and depressing video games you’ll ever play. It takes advantage of the repetitive motions and dehumanizing mechanics found in video games to create a dark tribute to the human condition. Prove that you’re a fan of Papers, Please with this Arstotzka Inspector Pin, which was designed by Lucas himself.

Present this link to Fangamer at your browser’s checkpoint and order the pin for $12 (USD). The store also has other Papers, Please merchandise. I guess you won’t be able to pay the rent this month.

Famicom Pin Badge Collection: Gotta Cart ‘Em All

While looking at the Star Soldius t-shirt, I stumbled upon another homage to classic video games, and from a Japanese artist as well. It’s a collection of Famicom cartridge pin badges.

Ketchuparts’ collection will consist of 15 pin badges. I’m not entirely certain, but I think they’re based on Famicom launch games.

Each pin badge costs ¥800 (~$8 USD). Press your browser firmly into your computer and head to Ketchuparts’ online shop, Meteor or Frog Port to get the pins. It seems like Ketchuparts has yet to release all the pin badges so keep checking back on those stores if you want to get them all.
