This titanium multitool nails the basics

james_brand_halifax_1

The James Brand was established for the pure reason that there are some problems that involve getting your hands dirty. Some solutions involve having the right tool on you and the Halifax was designed to be a solution to some pretty basic problems. Its simplistic design comes machined from a single titanium billet, and has a design that’s easy to hold, store, and even operate.

The Halifax comes with three rather rudimentary functions that you’re bound to require a tool for. A flathead screwdriver on the front lets you loosen or tighten screws on your gadgets and outdoor equipment, while its solid titanium construction even lets you use it as a scraper, taking tough coatings off surfaces like a knife moving through butter… all without getting a single scratch. Right underneath the tool also lies a bottle-opener with a rather interesting cap-holding design detail that stands out in its chrome finish.

My Screwdriver is happy to see you!

3driver_pen_1

There are some of us who are the multi-tool swiss knife pros, and there are some who don’t know a nail from a screw. 3Driver may look like a lot of multi-tools you’ve seen on Yanko, but it actually isn’t a multi-tool. It’s a single, very clever tool. Designed telescopically, the screw is made expressly for phillips head screws. Its magic lies in the fact that it can work with screws of all sizes, because of its tapering design. All you do is expand or contract the tool to make its head big or small, corresponding to the size of your screw. It’s simple and idiot-proof, really!

A Simply Better Screwdriver!

plus_01

This screwdriver might be named “PLUS” but it’s actually what’s been subtracted that makes it more useful! The basic shape of a screwdriver isn’t all that conducive to maximizing manual power. Add in a simple space through the handle, however, and you can maximize pressure to turn while easing your grip but using another to twist. A set of two is all you need to tackle odd-jobs and household tasks or even serious mechanic work!

Mininch Tool Pen Multi-tool: The Write Tool for the Job

The Mininch Tool Pen Multi-tool is like those pencils where you pop the lead out and then put the empty plastic in the top to push up a fresh point. Remember those? This is like that, only manlier. Mininch has made a screwdriver using this concept and it seems pretty handy.

pen toolmagnify

The Mininch Tool Pen looks like a pen, but instead of writing tips, you get a set of useful screwdriver bits for those small jobs that pop up around the house. Unlike most multi headed screwdrivers, this is not bulky. Everything you need is in a compact form. It is made out of solid aluminum and holds six bits, but you can choose from 13 available options. Though it would be nice if one of the bits were an actual pen or a Sharpie.

The design is thin and even manages to be attractive. It is nice to see a well designed screwdriver that isn’t ugly. This multi-tool screwdriver set is easy to carry around in your pocket. You can preorder it through Kickstarter right now and sets start at $45(USD).

Smiley Face Screws and Screwdriver: Smile, You’re Screwed!

There are many different screw head types. Like those screw heads on game consoles that are designed to keep you out. Those should have grump faces to represent them, whereas Yuma Kano’s design is all about fun.
smiley screwsmagnify

Screw is a collaborative project between him and Komura Seisakusho, a screw factory in Japan. The idea is that his screws are “a product that can bring joy.” If you were taking something apart and didn’t expect to see a screw like this, I imagine it would make you smile.

Of course you need a smiley face screwdriver to screw them in and unscrew them. Who says tools can’t be fun and functional?
