Snowboard Bicycle Attachment

bicycle snowboard Snowboard Bicycle Attachment
Turn your bicycle into a snowboard (of sorts) and then right back into a mountain bike with the Bike Snowboard. This mono-ski attaches to your bicycle’s front tire for gliding down the slopes and pedaling on snow-covered trails. The best part about this board is that it attaches right to your tire and you don’t need to remove your front wheel to use it.

That’s flexibility. Pedal through the trails and when you hit the snow put your snowboard on. The board’s adjustable rails clamp on to most tire sizes with jaw pins and leash straps to help keep it in place. The board has a full steel edge and side-cut curved tip so you grip and carve on the packed stuff (or ice) yet are able to float atop the deep powder.

As the board carves through the snow, it creates a flattened track in the snow so the back wheels can get a bit of a better grip and more pedaling power. If you’re really feeling adventurous you can strap on a 2nd board to the rear wheel and really go crazy heading downhill. Available in 3 sizes and weighs a bit under 5lbs.

Skiing Just Got Smarter

Kiing is the first activity tracker designed specifically for skiers. Placed at the front and back of the skis, the system uses GPS, an accelerometer, and other sensors to monitor velocity, turns, and other data which are transmitted via Bluetooth to a wrist-worn device for interpretation. With this information, skiers can not only hone their skills but compete with friends and other skiers via social media sharing!

Data Galore On The Slopes With The Snow2 Goggles

recon-snow-2

What’s better than shredding some slopes, and getting some fresh air and exercise in the process? Well, slathering the experience with reams of data, of course! The Snow2 HUD system for ski goggles places a virtual 14″ image only 5ft. away from your eyes, in an unobtrusive corner, and grants you access to a suite of sensors that keep track of everything from speed, to airtime, to altitude changes, to outside temperature, and more. You can listen to music streamed from your phone, see texts as they come in, plot your position on a map, all the while never taking your eyes off the slope, and everything is controlled through a waterproof wrist-mounted Bluetooth-connected remote that can be easily accessed with gloves on.

Snow2’s modular design enables it to be integrated into goggles created by many of the world’s leading goggle brands. Depending on the goggle brand, the HUD can either be purchased pre-installed or separate from the goggles, whereby you simply snap fit the HUD into the specially designed Recon Ready goggle frame

There are actually more features than we care to list in this short article, but the gist is that the Snow2 will finally make your skiing (or snowboarding) experience digital. And if you’re a fan of this site, you’re also probably a fan of that idea. It’s $400, though until December 6th, you can get $100 off as part of their Black Friday deals.

Bindings Just Got Better

The Flow Caiman snowboard binding may be a more minimal approach than other designs on the market, but don’t be fooled, it packs greater functionality into a light design that aims to keep riders from constantly making pit stops to make adjustments. Every component has been redesigned to help the rider get in and out quickly and adjust the bindings without screwdrivers. See how it works!

Key Features:

Suspension system built into the base that provides cushioning

Highback and baseplate within the same structure so they don’t need to be adjusted indpendently

Collapsible binding that becomes nearly flat, allowing more boards to be stacked within a small space

Preset settings for stance and angle

Insert Coin: Neva smart ski poles keep you connected while shredding powder

In Insert Coin, we look at an exciting new tech project that requires funding before it can hit production. If you'd like to pitch a project, please send us a tip with "Insert Coin" as the subject line.

Insert Coin: Neva smart ski poles keep you connected while shredding powder

Hitting the slopes means ditching your phone for a few hours, or risking losing it while bombing down the mountain. More troubling than an AWOL handset, though, is getting yourself lost in the backcountry sans smartphone while searching for fresh powder. An intrepid skier / software coder is well aware of this, and he's taken to Kickstarter to fund the Neva ski poles, which keep you safe and connected by wirelessly communicating with the Android or iPhone in your pocket. Incoming calls and text messages pop up on the built-in OLED display, and a finger swipe lets you answer the phone without lifting your gaze from the path ahead, as long as you've managed to mod your mitts accordingly. It's on you to decide which calls are really so pressing they need to be taken on your downhill runs -- though, to do so, you'll probably want to buy one of those Bluetooth-enabled jackets. The poles also display temperature, time and elevation, and the related smartphone app lets you toggle features such as calculating your slope angle and tracking your route.

As far as Kickstarter pledge rewards go, the Neva project is quite generous. The base $1 donation gets you early access to the smartphone app, while stepping up to $120 earns you a pair of 7075 aluminum poles (only one is data-enabled), the app for Android or iPhone and a vinyl Neva decal. Of course, you could always shell out $2,500 or more and get a reseller pack of 25 Neva ski pole sets. While those are enticing offers for backers, the project has raised just $851 of its requested $100k -- and there are only 26 days left. Hit up the source link to donate, and check out the video past the break for a look at the poles in action.

Contour’s new mount, watersports kits help bring its cameras with you in the water, snow or dirt

Image

As Contour continues to do battle with GoPro over the action-sport POV camera market, its latest offensive centers around prepackaged activity-specific mount kits that should make it easier for customers to pick one up and go. Also new is an all-in-one ContourRoam watersports kit that includes the HD camera and waterproof case that's capable of keeping it dry at depths of up to 60m. The mount kits include sets for skiers, cyclists, motorcyclists, hikers and an all purpose helmet mount kit. All of these are available starting today on the company's website and at select retailers, with the mount kits going for between $59 - $99 and the Roam Watersports kit for $249. We appreciated the Contour+'s sleek package in our head to head test with the Hero 2 last month and the addition of these packages should help it compete on price and ease of use right out of the box. The specific details are in the press release after the break and pictures of each set are in the gallery below, assuming your hobbies are exciting enough to merit recording, of course.
