This Superhero Banana Bread Looks MARVELous

I can think of no better way to celebrate your passion for Marvel’s superheroes than to make some tasty baked goodies in their form. That’s exactly what Flickr contributor Cindy Li did when she baked up this batch of delicious looking banana bread, baked in the shapes of Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Wolverine:

DC Comics Movie Poster Variant Covers Coming Soon

DC Comics has been releasing monthly themed variant covers for a while now. We saw their LEGO variant covers back in August. For March 2015, DC reached out to the big screen for inspiration – and a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor.

dc-comics-warner-bros-movie-posters-variant-coverszoom in

These 22 variant covers were inspired by classic Warner Bros. movie posters. The Detective Comics variant cover shown above is of course based on The Matrix. Some of the other covers won’t be as familiar to younger folks. Fortunately Redditor Ian Mazgelis shared this Imgur gallery that compares the variant covers with the actual posters that inspired them.

There are so many outstanding combinations there, from Aquaman and Free Willy to Batgirl and freakin’ Purple Rain. There should be a The Brave and the Bold-style DC all star cartoon series where all of these silly crossovers happen.

Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver Cutlery Set

sonic screwdriver cutlery
Who can cut feed you with the power of time travel? Doctor Who, that’s who. With the Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver Cutlery Set. It’s a fork, knife, and spoon all with handles that look like the 11th and 12th Doctor’s all-in-one magical tool. These utensils can’t scan for alien life or perform medical operations but they can certainly feed you or any hungry aliens you are eating with. Try to resist pointing them at everyone else at the table while uttering witty yet eccentric sayings.

The cutlery is made of stainless steel with a plastic handle and measures about 8.5″ long each. Of course we all know that the real Sonic Screwdriver “doesn’t do turkey” but these utensils can help you eat turkey. And that’s just what the Doctor ordered.

Zen Buddha Batman and Yoda

zen yoda Zen Buddha Batman and Yoda
Be calm, you will. In terms of spiritual enlightenment nobody is above Yoda. Except maybe Buddha. And Batman. Because the caped crusader brings calm to Gotham City and he’ll bring calm to your city, probably in a less destructive way and with less grunting. MuckyChris on Etsy creates these fantastic Buddhafied versions of your favorite characters. Each is available in three sizes and multiple color choices.

11 Comic Book Characters in the Elizabethan Era

Batman & Robin

Taking present pop culture symbols and placing them in ancient times is always an interesting project to make. French photographer Sacha Goldberger reimagined characters from popular comic book franchises as they would have appeared in Elizabethan times. They don’t seem too intimidating dressed up like this.

Superman

The smuggest superhero of them all.

Batman & Robin

Even more camp than the TV show.

The Joker

Seems to fit the time better than anyone.

Spider-Man

Seems to be uncomfortable.

Wolverine

Who would have taken him seriously back then dressed like that?

Iron Man

More like Iron Woman.

Captain America

Who needed him back in the 16th century?

The Incredible Hulk

Whatever he wears just gets torn apart anyway.

Wonder Woman

She looks depressed.

Catwoman

The more popular way of depicting superheroes and villains is going Steampunk (Victorian era). Here are some brilliant steampunk villains.

7 Marvel Superheroes With Their Own Comic Book Cereals

Gamma Snacks

Not that we need any more advertising and brand placing in our lives, but this idea of using Marvel Superheroes (and one lovable movie villain) like Iron Man, Thor, Captain American, Loki, Hulk, Groot and Deadpool on cereals boxes is incredibly cool.

The combination of Bamboota and Elliot Fernandez brought together this wonderful project, taking a very needed spin on the boxes of morning cereals.

Iron Man (Iron Bran)

Comes along with Pepper Potts, the mandarin, a lot of money and also a potential drinking problem, not to mention the Nick Fury eye patch.

Loki (Loki Charms)

Comes along with a depress Thor and also one awesome staff among other things. And speaking of his bashing brother…

Thor (Honey Nut Thorrios)

Comes along with his Avenger friends, including the useless Black Widow and Hawkeye. Ther Mjolnir as well, if you’re worthy of picking it up.

Deadpool (Deadpools)

As expected from the Merc with a Mouth, this box comes with things that go Boom!

Hulk (Gamma Snacks)

If you get these gamma snacks, you’ll also receive a Loki with a black eye, one solemn Nick Fury and maybe Gamma radiation, which usually isn’t a good thing.

Captain America (Ameri-Crunch)

You’ll be filled with Red, White and Blue emotions after biting your way through this.

Groot (Groot Loops)

How a well made film made a tree and a raccoon incredibly popular.
