‘Al Dente’ Pasta Tester sits on the rim of your saucepan, letting you know when your spaghetti is ready

Meet Al Dente. First name Al, last name Dente. Al is passionate about two things – fishing, and perfect toothsome spaghetti.

Designed by the fine folks at OTOTO in collaboration with Klipy Design, Al Dente quietly and patiently perches himself on the rim of your saucepan, casting a single line of spaghetti into your boiling water. Whenever you want to check if your pasta is perfectly undercooked (or what the Italians called al dente), just take the spaghetti from Al Dente’s hands and nibble at the lower end of the line. If your spaghetti needs some extra time in the boiling water, just put it back in Al’s hands and he’ll hold onto it for you to check again after a few moments! Once you’re done, discard the spaghetti Al was holding onto (that was just a test piece) and strain out the rest of your pasta! Buon Appetito!

Al’s the kind of chap that’s dedicated to his craft. His silicone construction means he’s heat resistant, BPA-free, food-safe, and dishwasher friendly. Pop him on the edge of your saucepan and he even lets you place a lid on top with a small opening around him, working as a steam releaser… although his favorite activity really is patiently casting a line of spaghetti into your boiling water. Instead of taking a pair of tongs and fishing around for a noodle to bite into to test your pasta’s done-ness, Al Dente does the hard part for you, holding onto a single test noodle that you can easily grab out and test. For now, Al Dente only works with dry spaghetti and bucatini, although I’m sure he’s looking to expand his skill set in the future!

How adorable is this Baby Yoda and Mandalorian themed Travel Mug and Thermos?!

Marking 45 years since George Lucas gave us one of the most immersive universes science fiction could ask for, these Star Wars-themed drinkware from Corkcicle is sure to get the geek within you excited! The Corkcicle X Star Wars range spans a variety of drinking vessels and popular characters (check out this R2D2 and C3PO combo), although nothing quite matches the charm of this 12oz cup and 20oz canteen modeled on Baby Yoda and Mandalorian – two pieces of drinkware that don’t just go together functionally, they even honor their references in size and proportion!

Designer: Corkcicle

Designed to be abstract yet instantly recognizable, the Baby Yoda travel cup comes with the color palette of our favorite tiny alien (it’s a tough choice between Baby Yoda and Baby Groot), upon which sits its lid with two outward-facing adorable ears built right in!

The Baby Yoda Travel Cup is best paired with Corkcicle’s Mandalorian-inspired 20oz Travel Canteen, which comes made from triple-insulated stainless steel (just like the Baby Yoda cup). The insulated design even means you can comfortably hold onto the outer surface without the internal heat or coldness radiating to your skin.

Both the 16oz canteen and 12oz travel mug come with caps that seal your drink shut, keeping them warm or cold for hours at an end. They’re BPA-free, and even sport silicone-lined bases to ensure they don’t slip around or scratch tabletop surfaces by accident. As for the drinkware themselves, they’re made from durable stainless steel with shatterproof lids and finishes/paint-coatings that are scratch-resistant and dishwasher safe… although they’re probably not lightsaber-proof.

HMM Mugr has an earthbound design that gives your lips a taste of heaven

This finely crafted mug makes earth and wood meet in a symphony of texture designed to be a treat to your fingers as well as your sensitive lips.

When it comes to beverages, a lot of attention is naturally poured on the quality of the drink, its texture, its temperature, and even its viscosity. Those qualities, of course, will make or break a drink, no matter what you drink it from. Our lips, however, first come into contact with the surface of a glass, cup, or mug, and that first impression could set the mood for the entire experience. That’s the kind of first engagement that this beautiful minimalist mug tries to perfect in a design that is seemingly full of contrasts blended in an almost divine way.

Designer: HMM Project

Our lips are one of the most sensitive parts of our bodies, almost on the same level as our fingertips. Anyone who has accidentally taken a sip of a hot beverage will attest to that discomfort, even before the liquid hits the tongue. It’s a bit surprising, then, that many drinkware doesn’t seem to pay special attention to the quality of the rim of the glass or cup. As long as they don’t cut into the person’s lips, they’re considered to be fine.

The HMM Mugr, in contrast, gives the lips their due. To be fair, it didn’t single out how the lips touch the mouth of the mug, but the soft texture that greets the person’s mouth is a product of the mug’s design. Made of quality Japanese ceramic, the body of the mug is warm to the touch and soft to the lips, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing drink even before you take the first sip.

You wouldn’t actually know that the Mugr is made of that fine material just by looking at it. The mug may try to take your drinking experience to new heights, but its humble appearance is almost literally down to earth. The glaze makes the body of the mug look like it’s made from cast iron, a material that is often viewed as cold, which nicely contrasts with ceramic’s natural warmth.

The wooden handle is another point of contrast. The fine walnut’s lighter tone and random grains are juxtaposed against the uniform appearance of the mug’s cast iron finish. Its textured surface also gives a better grip compared to the smoothness of the ceramic body.

Earth meets wood, and earth meets heaven in a yin yang of contrasting elements that balance each other gracefully. The HMM Mugr isn’t just a drinking vessel, nor is it just a pretty mug. With its minimalist design, smart choice of materials and finishes, and acute attention to detail, the mug tries to elevate your drinking experience, creating a sense of harmony and balance in every sip — a perfect way to enjoy a relaxing drink after a long day.

These Japanese Artisans are bringing back the traditional sustainable culture of wooden tableware

A material still used by Buddhist monks even today, wood provides a feeling that’s uniquely natural to the touch. It doesn’t conduct heat like a metal bowl or plate, which can get too hot to touch, it’s not breakable like ceramic or glass tableware, and it isn’t as unhealthy as plastic. Wooden utensils can be washed, preserved, and reused for decades, and given that they’re a naturally occurring material, they’re sustainable, eco-friendly, and renewable. Higashi Shunkei has been spreading the message of wooden tableware for 68 years. Founded in Hida Takayama in Japan, the three-generation-old company had humble beginnings as chopstick makers, moving onto larger tableware including bowls made from cedarwood native to the small city of Takayama.

Designer: Higashi Shunkei Lacquer Ware

The city of Takayama is a relatively tiny one, with 92% of its land being covered by forests. These are the very forests Higashi Shunkei sources their cedarwood from. The Hida-Cedar bowls are spun, finished, and lacquered all within Higashi Shunkei’s own workshop. The bowls boast a stunning dark finish with light-colored bands, reminiscent of a tiger’s striped skin. Each bowl’s ‘distorted’ pattern is unique, and no two bowls are alike.

Compared to other woods, the wood grain of cedar is harder and the spaces between the grains are softer, making it very difficult to process, so bowls made of cedar are rare even in Japan.

A beautiful bowl in wood before lacquer is applied.

Suri Urushi is a process in which lacquer is applied over and over. The air in the wood absorbs more lacquer than other types of wood. The more lacquer is applied, the stronger the wood becomes.

The final outcome.

The bowls are spun on a wooden lathe, before being finished using a traditional lacquering process called Suri Urushi, in which the bowl gets multiple coats of lacquer. The tiny pores and air pockets within the wood absorb the lacquer, becoming hard as the lacquer fuses into the wood. The result is a wooden bowl that literally feels as dense and glossy as ceramic. However, it’s tougher than ceramic, has better heat-retention properties (so food stays hotter for longer), while also having insulating properties that allow you to hold the bowl of hot food without burning yourself.

The lacquer makes the wood anti-bacterial and easy to wash (the Hida-Cedar bowls are all dishwasher safe), and the best part? As the bowls age, their pattern becomes more and more pronounced, making them look even better with time! The bowls are easy to stack and store, and come in two shapes – one for rice, and another for soups, broths, and ramens.

You can choose between red, black, or blue lacquer colors (they’re all food-safe), and each bowl you buy will help support the woodworking community in Hida Takayama, while allowing them to take better care of their forest through reforesting practices.

Award-winning minimal weighing scale folds down to a fraction of its original size

A Gold Winner in the Professional Cooking Category at the Parmigiano Reggiano Design Challenge 2021, Bifur is a nifty little compact scale that comes in the shape of a foldable trivet-style structure and also packs a kitchen timer in it. Designed to be small yet effective, and the kind of tool that becomes indispensable around the kitchen, the Bifur lets you measure the weight of ingredients during food prep, and time your cook too, once it begins cooking. When all’s said and done, the device folds down like a tripod into a tiny baton that you can easily stash in one of your kitchen drawers!

Designer: Kebei Li

Bifur’s clever form factor gives it stability while still letting it remain compact while not in use. Its three-point design lets you easily weigh objects on it by placing them on top the way you would with a trivet… while a backlit LCD screen on the side of the longer leg tells you the weight of the item. The ridge above the screen houses buttons that let you toggle the Bifur on or off, tare (or reset), change the measuring units, and even access a timer that can be pretty handy while brewing coffee, letting you weigh out the ingredients, and then time your brew!

Bifur’s design relies on a tough yet lightweight polycarbonate housing with die-casted zinc alloy joints. The internals consists of a lithium-ion battery with capacitive touch controls on the top and a shine-through LED matrix display on the front.

Redesigned cutlery aims at breaking the barriers between cuisines by creating a fusion of tradition and function

If you’ve ever heard the phrase “to call a spade a spade” before, what this cutlery set does is quite the opposite. Designed with a fresh perspective on cuisines and the cutlery required for them, ‘Rething’ by Anastasia Starostina aims at creating a fusion of forms based on their functions. The cutlery looks distinctly familiar but are quite different in their approach, and offer the ability to consume different kinds of food with ease, from soups and broths to steaks and other main courses.

“The abstraction of each of the objects has stretched the limitations of their initial potential”, says Anastasia Starostina, a Russia-based industrial design. Each of the cutlery sets showcases an incredibly elegant form with well-balanced proportions and sculpted details. They look simultaneously lightweight and robust, multipurpose yet ergonomic.

The different cutlery units cover a wide range of cuisines. The knife exists as an independent piece, and can be paired along with the other cutlery sets, allowing you to effectively cut and portion your meals. The three other cutlery pieces cover ranges of cuisine from Asian styles (with the spoon and the chopsticks) to Continental (spoon + fork) and even a third spoon/shaver hybrid for garnishes and embellishments like cheeses, truffles, and sauces.

Ultimately Rething tries to redesign our eating tools for modern needs, making a point that cutlery from 100 years ago simply won’t do for our advanced palates that crave a whole variety of cuisines and tastes. When not in use, the cutlery add an ornamental touch to the table, with their elegant design and form language.

It’s Thanksgiving Day, and this basically means that the holiday season has officially begun! My favorite time of the year has started! It’s the day to give thanks, and truly feel grateful for all the amazing people and things we have in our lives. As we show gratitude and appreciation for the rollercoaster that was the past year (the good parts and the bad parts both), we’ve curated a collection of unique product designs to help you get through this mega holiday. From Game of Thrones-themed cutlery to shakers inspired by the four seasons – these exciting products are all you need to take your Thanksgiving dinner to the next level. We hope you are able to amp up this special holiday with these special designs. Enjoy!

1. The Four Season Shakers

The Four Seasons shakers are quite literally perfection. Capturing four different types of seasoning, and embodying them in snow-globe-esque containers, Qualy Design’s Four Seasons shakers are just simply clever and adorable at the same time. Not only are they well designed, but the absolutely witty wordplay also makes the product even more lovable! You’ve got four shakers that embody four different seasons and hold four different seasonings. Designed for salt, pepper, dried herbs, and chili flakes, the shakers come with plants on the inside that pair well with the seasoning.

2. Curved Flatware

Our team is having a debate and we need your help – is this oddly satisfying or does it disturb your OCD? Designed by Object Rights, this curved flatware will perfectly complement the circular plates on your dinner table this Thanksgiving. I, for one, am quite intrigued by this experimental design!

3. Transformer Table

The Transformer Table comes with two expanding sides and a central leg piece that sits anywhere in the middle to support the weight at the center. Once the table’s sides are pulled apart, wooden planks are placed on the top to give the table its long surface. The Transformer Table 3.0’s wooden panels stack to turn into a separate coffee table that you can use as a secondary piece of furniture, giving you two tables in one! The Transformer Table 3.0 pairs with the Transformer Bench, which has its wooden panels stored inside its hollow center. The bench’s height allows it to fit under the table too, giving you furniture that is both expandable and stackable for ultimate control over your space. For people who like dining on higher surfaces, there’s the Transformer Counter height table, a raised dining table to suit your home’s decor.

4. Golden-Accent Marble Dinner Plates

The Golden-Accent Marble Dinner Plates are probably the most gorgeous collection of plates I’ve ever laid my eyes upon! Each plate features an exquisite marble design, which almost look like little galaxies on tableware! The plates come in four interesting color options – white, black, grey, and blue. Each one is adorned with golden accents and marbled designs of different colors. There is also a hint of gold along the rim of the plates. The Golden-Accent Marble Dinner Plates would be an exciting addition to your otherwise traditional Thanksgiving dinner table!

The KitchenAid Smart Oven+ Connected Wall Oven is the sidekick you need while preparing a lavish Thanksgiving dinner! The smart oven is compatible with a variety of attachments, allowing you to effortlessly engage in different styles and techniques of cooking. The wall oven attachments include a steamer, grill, and a baking stone. The KitchenAid Smart Oven harmoniously combines all these attachments to create one wholesome cooking experience. Preparing a Thanksgiving spread has never been this simple and easy!

6. Game of Spoons

Oh, Game of Thrones, whatever our take on the faults of the final season, one thing remains, we can’t ignore the series or the impact it had on our lives with hours of discussions, theories and lets not even get started on the number of inspired souvenirs I own! But all that is pushed aside with just one look at these elaborately crafted spoons, designed in collaboration between HBO and Magnum as a part of their limited-edition collection, with each design representing the houses that played a part in the show in an iconic manner. From the gleaming red and gold Lannister-worthy engraving to the stark fierceness of the northerners, each of these spoons completely defines the characteristics that made this series such an epic exercise in storytelling.

7. ODNY.BOX

ODNY.BOX is a food storage concept with an intuitive control dial and a minimal aesthetic for users to store any type of leftover, from hot baked cookies to cold Greek yogurt. Inspired by the bulbous shape that water makes when it drops on flat surfaces, the glass lid of ODNY.BOX comes together as half of a globe and almost curls under the platform where food is kept to ensure sealed storage. The seasons have an effect not only on the food we eat but also on how that food is kept for tomorrow. During the winter months, the hot food we order or cook at home is subject to cold temperatures, while during the warmer months, perishables like produce are the first to go bad. It’s perfect for storing your Thanksgiving leftovers!

8. The Cakedozer Cake Server

The Cakedozer Cake Server makes serving those Thanksgiving pies a piece of cake! The server is quite a nifty kitchen appliance that adds a smart mechanism to an otherwise traditional serving utensil. The smart mechanism pushes the slice of cake or pie off the server, and onto your plate. The server is available in gray and yellow. It can also be used to serve pizza as well!

9. The Lékué Vegetable Ricer

The Lékué Vegetable Ricer turns florets of cauliflower or broccoli into tiny grains that can either be used as a garnish, substituted for rice, or mixed with other ingredients to form healthy, low-carb, plant-based dishes. Yes, it surely is a niche product, as much as an avocado peeler is, or a soup spoon, or a honey stick, but it does what it intends to exceptionally well, with ease, and without electricity. Just chuck chunks of cauliflower or broccoli into the ricer, close it shut, and twist the lid a couple of times, and spokes within the inner container help break the chunks down into smaller grain-like particles, which you can then steam to use as a rice substitute, or turn into a wonderful gluten-free pizza crust! You can switch to a healthier diet with this product once your Thanksgiving binge is over!

10. The Slow Dance

Designed to be an art installation you can hang on a wall or place on a mantelpiece and stare at for hours, the Slow Dance lets you mount a variety of things within its magical frame, from feathers to flowers, to even interesting looking leaves. Switch it on, and the object within the frame begins fluttering in slow motion, without any external stimulus (you should really check out the video above). The illusion relies on two core components – a precisely engineered system within the Slow Dance’s frame, and your eye’s ability to see in 24 frames per second. The engineering lies in an electromagnet that causes the feather/flower/leaf to flutter away, and LED lighting built into the frame’s inner edge that strobes/flickers at a precisely calculated rate to make that chaotic flutter seem like slow-motion choreography. It could be a perfect decor piece for your Thanksgiving dinner party!

This titanium EDC spork is so incredibly durable, your grandchildren will be taking it on adventures…

Titanium… The toughest, most lightweight material known to mankind. Sounds like a little overkill to use it to make cutlery, right? Well, the SporKit isn’t the kind of cutlery that plays by the rules. Designed to be compact, useful, sleek, and so insanely durable, it could be used on a human colony on Mars a 100 years from now, the Ti-Ultra êkö SporKit is a nifty little piece of travel cutlery that hopes to swear you off plastic, wood, or any of those single-use biodegradable cutlery sets. It’s small and fits right into your pocket, and comes with a two-part design that, when assembled, lets you eat anything from salads to steaks, and then finish off with some dessert.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware that single-use plastic cutlery is literally the worst thing ever invented. It takes seconds to manufacture, minutes to use, and then lasts in our soils and oceans for thousands of years… the alternatives aren’t too much better either. Wooden spoons still require cutting trees, plus they’re fragile and are designed to be flat, making them practically useless. Biodegradable cutlery doesn’t really solve the problem either, since it doesn’t address the problem that is the use-and-throw culture. Sure, you could just carry stainless steel spoons and forks from your kitchen with you wherever you go, but they’re definitely not designed for traveling. SporKit addresses all the aforementioned problems by being highly durable, compact, lightweight, and versatile. The spork shape makes it easy to eat all sorts of foods, from ramen to ribs, and the fact that it’s made from CP1 titanium means it’s lightweight, anti-corrosive, anti-microbial, hypoallergenic, and practically indestructible. The makers of the SporKit mention that it won’t last a lifetime… it’ll last multiple lifetimes.

The Ti-Ultra êkö SporKit comes with a two-part design, enclosed within an easy-carry fabric sleeve. The two parts, i.e., the spork and the handle, snap together to create cutlery that’s easy to grip, and at 150mm long, that’s long enough for stirring, serving, and eating too. As an added bonus, the SporKit can even be used without its snap-on handle, making it even more portable.

Press release button through slot to Clip-Off. Clip-In into slot to until it click locks.

Just the spork element itself measures 104mm, and comes with a channel that’s sufficiently long enough to grip onto (it’s sort of like sketching with a small pencil), and a negative cavity on the channel lets you even slide a carabiner clip in, allowing you to carry your SporKit independently, suspended to the belt loop on your pants, or your backpack while traveling. Go ahead and grab a Ti-Ultra êkö SporKit at its early-bird price of $30. Each SporKit comes with its fabric carrying-case, and ships in December 2022.

This reusable folding plate functions as a storage container + a sustainable alternative to disposable tableware!

Calzone is a reusable folding plate, inspired by (you guessed it), the Italian crescent-shaped turnovers that are so loved by everyone.

You know those perfect Sundays, when your friends and you manage to be free on the same day after what seems like ages, and you somehow find yourself on an impromptu picnic, lazing in the sun and sipping on homemade mimosas! Sound’s like heaven, doesn’t it? As much as I love a picnic or two with my close ones, packing for one is always a major headache, and not to mention the opposite of sustainable, since half of the picnic basket is full of disposable plates and containers! As convenient as these disposable items may seem at the moment, they are in fact a complete terror to the environment. In an attempt to create an innovative alternative to disposable plates and plastic bags, BDCI designed ‘Calzone’.

The colorful product is perfect for picnics and hikes, because not only can it store food, but it also functions as a plate! When folded, and closed in half, Calzone functions as a nifty little container, but when opened, it takes on a flat form and can be used as tableware to serve food. It’s the perfect replacement for one-time use zipper bags and plates! Created from medical-grade silicone, Calzone is safe enough to be placed in the refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and oven.

Calzone’s aesthetics are remarkably on point! The sustainable tableware comes in three color options – Florida Orange, Lemon Yellow, and Watermelon. All three colors are cheerful and robust, and just looking at them significantly lightens up your mood! Calzone also comes in three sizes – small, medium, and large. So, you can pick a size in accordance with your storage requirements.

Calzone is a sustainable, sturdy, and visually pleasing alternative to disposable products that tend to be a major curse to the environment. Calzone could be the future of tableware!

Imre’s Hug Cup was created to drill home the designer’s belief that, “we give special attention to things we use in our everyday life. We like to have a personal relation to the objects we touch closely, such as a cup.” The internal handle is a unique take on the mug’s traditional side handle, allowing users to securely grip Hug Cup while feeling the warmth of the liquid contents inside. Describing the mug in their own words, Imre states, “The whole cup creates an intimate tunnel through the cup itself for your finger, you may enjoy the heat of your beverage without burning your palm.”

Each piece of the Art Deco Garden Collection is inspired by Japanese Zen Gardens and the age of Art Deco. The porcelain tableware shimmers in white and is lined with hand-painted golden patterns reminiscent of the Art Deco movement. Brass accents enhance each piece’s ode to Art Deco. The Art Deco Garden Collection was designed following an involved research period that looked at many historical Japanese gardens, with an acute focus on the Tofukuji Temple Garden.

You no longer need to step out of your house to experience the precious moment of witnessing salt formation. Croatian firm BOIR brings this experience right to your home! Their product, aptly named ‘SALT’, is more than just a salt container. It is a portable saltworks whose aim is to preserve the authentic taste of natural Mediterranean Sea salt which is extremely rich with minerals and oligo-elements – about 80 of them. ‘SALT’ comes with a bottle of – Nin 28 Bé° – which is concentrated Adriatic seawater (brine). All you have to do is pour a thin layer of this brine into the salt pan and expose it to sunlight for an hour or heat it up in the oven. When the crystal pattern appears, it can be harvested with a mini rake and is ready to be served fresh!

A winner of the European Product Design Award, the One Plus Three is all about combining functionality with elegance. Designed as a series of 3 popular cutlery pieces – the spoon, fork, and knife, the cutlery comes with a parting line running through the center along with unusually tipped handles. Pull against the direction of this parting line and each cutlery piece splits into two chopsticks that can then be used to go from eating any other cuisine to eating Asian food! By integrating the tableware, One Plus Three hopes to integrate cultures too!

The Sonic Seasoning by graduation project of RCA student Mengtian Zhang is a unique creation centered on the satisfying sensory experience of listening to ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response) sounds even before we take a bite. This project culminated from Mengtian’s pandemic-induced lockdown experience when she took to watching ASMR cooking videos to remain stress-free. “I can feel the texture and flavor of food such as crunchiness and freshness behind the phone screen.” There Mengtian was struck with the idea of using sound and visual effects to elevate the buildup expectations of taste before the first bite hits the mouth. This resulted in the set of plates and cutlery connected to sensors for detecting touch which then triggers the appropriate notes to go with the whole eating experience.

The Anytongs were made to be a smaller, more universal alternative to the tongs you use and own. Its compact design lets it easily occupy less than half the space of your pair of tongs, while the ability to slot your own spoons and forks into it means you can use it for anything from grilling and flipping, to serving and stirring. A well-calibrated torsion-spring sits at one end of the Anytongs, giving it a wonderful snappy-springy experience that makes it incredibly easy to use, while rubber pads on its tips allow for comfortable use. The hallmark of the Anytongs (as its name really suggests) is the ability to use any flatware with it.

Pouring water

Jexter’s design process started with a relatively simple question, “How might we design an adaptive tableware to enhance the dining experience for the visually impaired?” The answer was Eatsy, a set of multi-functional tableware consisting of a plate, a bowl, a cup, and utensils designed with a unique feature, a silicone flap that can be bent to increase ease of usage while reducing the stigma by blending in with the existing tableware. The silicone flap is one of those minor changes that make all the difference – they provide unique sensory cues in a subtle manner for the visually impaired, helping them feel the edge of the container to guide them in their tasks – be it pouring water correctly into the cup, scooping food from the edge of your plate or even balancing your spoon on the edge so it does not slip into the food.

Have you ever felt that your meals required just a little more suspense? If yes, then Flyde by Felix Marx is for you! The name Flyde, meaning ‘To flow’ in Danish hints towards the unique selling point of this rather beautiful cutlery set, as it introduces an element of drama to the tabletop by precariously balancing on its sculpture-like handle.

Anthropologie’s Reusable Travel Flatware makes it easy to have all your cutlery together with you wherever you travel. With a neat nesting design, the three-piece set becomes a singular bundle that slides right into your travel bag or backpack, making it easy to carry on that camping trip, or even to work where you can bust it out during your lunch break. Made from 100% recyclable and sustainable polyamide thermoplastic that’s manufactured using renewable resources, the Reusable Travel Flatware champions convenience over everything else. Their clever design makes them easy to carry around as a set, and unlike other travel cutlery, they don’t compromise on shape/size/comfort to be portable.
