I Need This Gigantic Godzilla in My Life

Do you like Godzilla? I mean do you REALLY, REALLY like Godzilla? Then you’re going to want to start saving your money for this epic collectible from the X-PLUS Gigantic series.

This monstrous PVC kaiju figure measures in at a whopping 38.19″ long, and 18.5″ tall, and will look awesome on your desktop or bookshelf – assuming you have the space for it. Maybe the dining table is a better option. I love the idea of a Godzilla centerpiece surrounded by tiny buildings for it to stomp on. This thing is incredibly detailed. Just look at those razor-sharp teeth and deadly-looking spiny bits down its back and tail.

Pre-orders start in Japan today, with the monster selling for 66,000 yen – or about $610 here in the U.S. It’s not available for pre-order yet, but there’s a good chance you’ll be able to get one from Entertainment Earth or Big Bad Toy Store closer to its release.

DJI RoboMaster S1 Robot Is a Programmable Wonder from Drone Experts

Chinese tech company DJI is best known for its excellent photography drones. Now they’ve taken their expertise in remote-controlled vehicle design, and applied it to an earth-bound vehicle, dubbed the RoboMaster S1.

This $499 robot isn’t just for play though, it’s designed to teach kids (and kids at heart) about robotics. This thing looks like a really sophisticated bit of tech, packing in the ability to program 46 different components, and 6 AI modules using Scratch 3.0, an easy-to-use graphical interface, or directly via Python. It comes as a kit, but doesn’t look too difficult to assemble – just enough that you’ll learn about the various components that go into a robot.

The RoboMaster S1 features an on-board, gimbal-stabilized HD camera, and can move swiftly in any direction thanks to its sweet mecanum wheels, each with its own independent drive motor. It also packs a remote-controlled blaster that fires gel projectiles, and each one has sensors in its armor so you can play battle games if you have multiple RoboMasters in the same space.

The robot also has a variety of sensors, so it can recognize lines, object markers, people, clapping, gestures, and even its own kind – other S1 robots. Combining these sensors and AI tech, it can even drive itself around a space autonomously.

The DJI RoboMaster S1 is available for order now for $499, and looks like an incredible bit of tech for both play and learning.

LEGO Goes to The Upside Down with Awesome Stranger Things Model

LEGO is one of my favorite playthings, and Stranger Things is one of my favorite TV series, so when I found out the two were partnering up, I was pretty stoked. But LEGO has really outdone themselves with their first official Stranger Things set.

The 2,287-piece set The Upside Down (LEGO kit 75810) is an intricate model of the Byers house, loaded up with lots of details, and flanked by trees. But the most impressive part is how the entire model features an upside-down version of the house on its underside. And since LEGO pieces lock in place on their studs, you can flip the whole thing over whenever you feel like it.

The finished house measures over 17″ wide, 12″ tall, and 8″ deep. There are lots of nifty details inside with lots of furniture and the room with the alphabet wall – which actually lights up on the side where Joyce Byers is trying to communicate with Will.

The set includes eight minifigs inspired by the series, including Eleven, Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, Will Byers, Joyce Byers, Chief Jim Hopper and the Demogorgon.

Other details include a fantastic little model of Sheriff Hopper’s police SUV, Lucas’ slingshot and flashlight, Dustin’s walkie-talkie and compass, Mike’s flashlight and walkie-talkie, Hopper’s coffee mug, Joyce’s flashlight and drawing of ‘Will the Wise’, and Eleven’s waffle.

LEGO fans can get their hands on the Stranger Things: The Upside Down set at LEGO stores and from shop.LEGO.com starting on June 1, 2019 – though LEGO VIPs can get it as early as May 15.

This Giant Paper Game of Thrones Dragon Is Amazing

To celebrate the final season of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, UK office supplies company Viking Direct worked with artist Andy Singleton to create this massive 43 foot-long dragon. It’s true, the night is dark and full of terrors. This is just one of them.

It took Andy and a team from Viking about 10 days to create this amazing paper beast. The detail on this life-sized paper dragon is just mind-blowing. It has a wingspan of more than 19 feet and took 1200 pieces of A4 paper to bring it to life.

It remained at the office for a week before they put it on display at a nearby school. It kind of makes me wish I had a giant dragon in my office. No, I mean besides my boss. Well, I mean, he’s not that bad. Aside from the breathing fire anyway.

Obviously, the folks at Viking are huge Game Of Thrones fans. Building a giant dragon is also a great marketing tool for sure. Awesome work guys! Now get back to work! And by work, I mean to build something else cool using office supplies.

AT-AT Liquor Cabinet Perfect for Serving Up Your Johnnie (Imperial) Walker Black

I’ve always wanted one of those fancy liquor cabinets in my house. I’m not talking about the type that look like an old globe either. I want a really cool one. Perhaps something really original, like one that looks like an AT-AT Imperial Walker. Oh, what’s that you say? Somebody already beat me to the punch? Damn.

Yep, what you’re looking at here is the most awesome bar for serving up your finest booze – all in the shape of an AT-AT. Luckily, it has yet to be brought down by a snow speeder’s tow cables, as that would be a horrible tragedy. The cabinet appears to be handcrafted from wood and brass, and stands at least 4 or 5 feet tall – unless those guys in the photo are Ewoks disguised as humans.

I know not from whence this tasty morsel of awesome comes, other than the fact that these photos were posted up on imgur back in 2011. If you happen to have been involved in the construction of this monument to geeky greatness, speak up and take credit where credit is due. I’ll be over here in the corner, keeping warm with a Hoth Toddy.

Giant Crocheted Monopoly Board: Advance to Go, Collect 200 Naps

Monopoly is one of the biggest board games in history – at least in terms of sales. Now it’s one of the biggest board games, literally. Check out this giant crocheted Monopoly board that Twitterer pilotviruet’s mother made for her for Christmas. That is one huge Monopoly board. You could use it as a blanket and people could still play on top of it while you sleep, probably hitting you in the face with the dice every turn.

Another bonus is that if you don’t like the way the game is going, instead of flipping the board, you can just pull it out from under the game pieces like a magician. It’s pretty cool, but I’m disappointed she didn’t crochet all of the game pieces and cards. I mean, you can’t just buy the game accessories for a board that size at the store. Thanks, mom, great board. We’ll just use the TV remote and a coffee mug for playing pieces, and take a marker to these greeting cards to recreate the Community Chest and Chance cards. I’ll go get the fuzzy dice from the car.

There’s nothing better than a game that can also be a blanket. You get to play your game then go take a nap under it. I hope they found some cool game pieces though. This is probably the only Monopoly board you can put in the washer.

An Incredible LEGO Recreation of the Opening of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”

There are very few scenes in cinema history that are as cool and unique as the opening sequence from Raiders of the Lost Ark. This, in a movie that is full of iconic scenes. In the 80s, kids everywhere were pretending that they were being chased by a boulder for years. Now, this amazing scene has been recreated in LEGO.

It was built by Caleb Watson and it is full of impressive detail. It has everything that the scene on screen had: The jungle outside, the plane, the sliding stone door, the swing over the pit, skeletons, the golden idol room and more. It’s everything that a LEGO/Indy fan could want in a LEGO set. Be sure to check out Beyond the Brick’s video tour of this impressive diorama:

This scene has six different motors that animate minifigs and booby traps, as well as cycle the rolling boulder back into position. As far as I’m concerned it’s a LEGO masterpiece. I would love to see what this guy could do with Temple of Doom and am looking forward to monkey brains, mine carts and of course, a LEGO Mola Ram pulling a heart out of a chest.
