With 3D Pool Mapping and 165W Suction, this Autonomous Pool Cleaner is an Absolute Must-Have

Think of the BlueNexus as the Roomba of the water. Unlike human pool cleaners, the BlueNexus actually enters your pool, scrubbing, suctioning, and purifying every inch itself. It performs a 3D scan of your pool first, so it can plot the most effective cleaning path, and then it gets to work, cleaning the pool floor, walls, and even steps without scuffing or scratching your pool’s walls.

Designer: Sublue Design

Designed by the folks at Sublue, the BlueNexus may be their first underwater robot vacuum, but it isn’t their first rodeo with submersible tech. The award-winning California-based startups has two other successful Kickstarter projects under their belt, namely the WhiteShark series of underwater sea-scooters. Designed less for entertainment and more for maintenance, the BlueNexus is Sublue’s third campaign, and perhaps its most advanced yet.

By comparison, designing an underwater sea-scooter is a lot easier than a submersible autonomous pool cleaner. The latter comes with a lot of bells and whistles, including 3D mapping technology, autonomous driving, vertical ascent, and just the ability to be an effective vacuum cleaner that doesn’t just remove debris, it scrubs algae off all surfaces an cleans the waterline too. The BlueNexus does all of that regardless of your pool’s shape, or the tiling material. It works on regular, curved, inclined, and even stepped pools, performing a comprehensive 3D scan using Sublue’s proprietary Geoguru navigation system to know what design it’s working with, before plotting the most effective cleaning path to get started.

Getting started is as easy as lowering the BlueNexus into the water and hitting a button on your smartphone app. The pool-cleaning robot features two units, the submersible vacuum bot itself, and a floating connectivity hub that allows it to communicate with your smartphone, tablet, etc. Once instructed, the BlueNexus gets to work, meticulously covering every inch of your pool. The 165W suction motor is enough to clean leaves, pebbles, and any other debris that may find its way into your pool, while a rotating scrubber also gently dislodges algae or anything else that’s stuck to your pool floor or walls. The folks at Sublue designed the BlueNexus to be compatible with a wide range of pool materials, going from the conventional concrete and mosaic tile to even vinyl lining, Pebble Tec, fiberglass, and PVC foil.

Geoguru – Equipped with 12+ sensors for flawless obstacle detection and pool wall protection.

The Geoguru mapping and navigation system is arguably the BlueNexus’ secret sauce. Relying on 12+ sensors (ultrasonic tech, infrared lasers, and advanced SLAM to name a few), the robot can map its way around the pool, detect obstacles, and even walls to make sure they don’t accidentally get scratched while cleaning. The Geoguru algorithm helps the BlueNexus be much more efficient too, making it clean 8x quicker than conventional pool cleaners. Couple that with the built-in 3.5-hour battery and the BlueNexus easily cruises through most pools without requiring a secondary charge.

Multiple Cleaning Mode – Adapts to any pool shape for a comprehensive clean, all controlled effortlessly with one touch.

The pool-cleaning robot comes with 5 different modes to choose from, including smart cleaning, floor cleaning, wall and waterline cleaning, all-round cleaning, and a remote control cleaning mode that allows you to control it through the app. Regardless of the mode you pick, when the BlueNexus is done cleaning, or when its battery runs low, it automatically ascends the pool wall, making it easy to fish out without needing to get into the pool. A large 4.5L inner chamber holds all the dirt that the BlueNexus cleaned out, and can easily be detached, emptied, and hosed down before being reinstalled.

The BlueNexus is compact, cordless, and is built like a rock. The lithium batteries encased within the pool cleaner are secured remarkably well, ensuring that water never seeps in. As far as software goes, Sublue guarantees improvements to the BlueNexus via OTA updates. Starting at $649 for early bird backers, the BlueNexus ships globally starting October 2023, and comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.

There’s a reason why swimming pools are considered luxuries that few can afford. In addition to the cost of constructing the pool itself, its maintenance and cleaning require manual work that can be pretty expensive as well. That’s what they said about keeping floors clean, too, but now we have smart robot vacuums to do that tedious job for us. Fortunately, AIRROBO just launched the new PC100 cordless robotic pool cleaner, delivering stress-free and sweat-free maintenance of pools in time for summer fun.

With its cordless and hose-free design, this pool vacuum offers more freedom and convenience when cleaning your pool, making it safer and easier to use.

The AIRROBO PC100 is a true wonder, with two brushes scrubbing your pool floors and a powerful suction of 55GPM (Gallons Per Minute) that makes short work of leaves, dirt, debris, and even fine sand along its path, ensuring a clean and healthy swim every time. It doesn’t just clean floors, either. Just like that popular comic book superhero, it can also clean walls and waterlines, crawling up walls up to 90 degrees. Its large 4L filter basket lets it give the pool a thorough cleaning before you need to pick it up.

The robot is pretty smart, too, so you don’t even have to supervise it while it gets the dirty job done. AI-powered NaviCleanTM technology allows the PC100 to know exactly where it is, how large the pool is, and the best paths it needs to take. Equipped with high-accuracy motion sensors and self-developed algorithms, you can simply “set-and-forget” the robot pool cleaner for the ultimate worry-free automation convenience. That makes the AIRROBO PC100 10 times more efficient than traditional pool cleaning methods.

Easy cleaning of the pool waterline.

Haul it out of the pool with a stick.

Recharge it via a wall socket plug.

This robot cleaning wonder also delivers ultimate freedom of movement thanks to its cordless operation. You don’t have to worry about tangling wires and hoses or power sockets, letting the robot clean freely even pools that are 16×32 feet in size. In fact, it can handle most types and shapes of pools, not just the plain old rectangular ones, and can work flawlessly on most types of pool materials, from fiberglass to vinyl to concrete and more! The large 7,800mAh battery gives it an uptime of up to 120 minutes, covering as much as 3,100 sq. ft. And when it’s done with the work or if its battery is too low, it will automatically park itself at the edge of the pool for easy retrieval. Ultrasonic cleaner concept masquerades as a beautiful piece of sculptural art

We have recently become a bit more concerned not only about the air that we breathe but also about the objects we touch or put on our faces. In addition to air purifiers, there has been a rise in all sorts of sanitizing devices, from those using UV-C light to other less common methods like ultrasonic washers for glasses. What binds all these machines together is how they look like machines, things that would stand out and look out of place in a living room or an art gallery. These boxes and towers don’t really have to be designed that way, only that it’s the most common and, therefore, cheapest manufacturing option. Fortunately, the trend seems to be changing, and there have been a few more aesthetic redesigns of these sanitation devices, such as this ultrasonic cleaner that could easily be mistaken as an artistic pot among other decorative pieces in a room.

Designers: Sohee Park, Deric Jeon (above.studio)

Granted, an ultrasonic cleaner is not exactly a common household appliance even today, but they serve an important purpose in some locations, particularly those that may deal with bacteria or dirt that could be harmful not only to health but also to other objects within that space. That includes laboratories, museums, and art galleries where your accessories could accumulate dirt or microorganisms that, when transferred, could damage equipment or get people sick.

Ultrasonic cleaners fire off high-frequency sound waves through the liquid to scrub immersed objects, such as eyeglasses, without physically touching them to reduce the risk of damaging the objects themselves. These machines often come as uninspiring and very technical boxes with a small metallic basin embedded at the top. It’s the most convenient design for such a machine, but with today’s technologies, designs don’t have to be that limited, which is what this redesign concept tries to accomplish.

The metal tray that holds the cleaning liquid and objects to be cleaned is still there, but it’s now embedded in a bowl-like structure that better signifies its purpose, which is to hold something potentially important and precious. And instead of a clunky metal box with knobs and switches, this black bowl sits on top of a paraboloid structure that serves as its base, creating a shape that almost looks like a large goblet that is smooth and almost devoid of details. Standing beside vases and decorations, this ultrasonic cleaner would look very much at home, disguising its true nature and purpose until it’s actually needed.

The redesign doesn’t fundamentally change the function of an ultrasonic cleaner, though finer control might be lost due to the absence of those knobs and switches. It does, however, make the device look less daunting and more approachable, especially in places where a metal box would stand out as an eyesore. Such designs could even make cleaning and sanitizing devices more commonplace, increasing their use and popularity in households, which, in turn, could help prevent the spread of diseases inside homes.

This high-temperature steam + vacuum spot cleaner can literally keep your sofa, rug, and house spotless

Using a patented process that bombards dirt with high-pressure water and then sucks the dirty water right out of fabrics, UWANT’s B-200 removes stains quickly even at the deepest level, while getting your fabrics and upholstery dry faster than other cleaners. Its 4-in-1 cleaning system helps you battle all kinds of spots, with high-temperature steam to dissolve the toughest stains that seep in even below the surface, while also killing germs and mites in fabrics. The best part? No scrubbing, pre-soaking, or any of that extra effort!

Designer: UWANT Design

Click Here to Buy Now: $259 $339 (23% off). Hurry, only 18 left!

Designed to be the most advanced portable spot cleaner on the market, the B-200 is a handy device that every household should own, even more so when you’ve got kids and pets around. You can never predict when food or drinks spill on the couch, or when someone drops a bottle of sauce on your new living room rug. Stains happen, but they don’t need to be permanent.

Designed to instantly attack stains right at their source, the B-200 is a handy handheld device that lets you bust stains without firing up the washing machine, removing bulky covers off your furniture, or using those fancy (and sometimes dangerous) cleaning solvents. Just locate the spill and point the B-200’s cleaner head at it. With multiple modes to choose from, the B-200 uses its own proprietary solvent mixed with water to bust stains. The solvent penetrates deep into fabrics, only to get sucked out by the powerful vacuum head. The B-200 works on upholstery, mattresses, curtains, carpets, and even car interiors (thanks to its wheeled base that makes it easy to transport around), eventually leaving you with a spotless sofa, rug, cushion that doesn’t feel damp or wet. It’s like pressing CTRL+Z on your stain.

High Pressure – Shooting water up to 2.36-inches into the stain to dissolve dirt at the deepest level.

Anti-bacterial Brushes – The material fights odor and prevents the spread of bacteria with every pass. And its firm but gentle brushes are tough on stains, knocking loose dirt at the deepest level while being delicate enough for your favorite threads.

Powerful Suction – Most spot cleaners only have 8KPa of suction, but the B200 sucks at an impressive 12KPa, getting your spots dry faster and clearing more dirt and water from the area.

Ironing Mode – Used to steam the wrinkles out of your clothing quickly.

Steam Mode – Heats up to 212℉, giving you a secret weapon for sterilizing stains that no other spot cleaner has.

The B-200 looks and feels like your regular spot buster, but with serious upgrades under the hood. A patented solution tank stores your solvent, and the B-200 mixes it with water to exactly the right ratio for you within the machine. A touchscreen panel on the side of the device lets you choose between 4 modes, including even a steam mode for stubborn stains. Once switched on, the B-200 deploys the detergent solvent by spraying it, and consecutively runs the powerful 12KPa vacuum to suck the solvent out. The detergent penetrates up to 2.36-inches into fabrics, making it really handy for cushions and the like, where it acts quickly on tough stains. The vacuum then pulls the liquid out, lifting the stain along with it so you’re left with impeccably clean and dry fabrics. Its cleaning modes include a standard water-based vacuum mode, a steam mode, an ironing mode that lets you also de-wrinkle and iron clothes (as you would with a steam cleaner), and a cleaning solution mode that uses the solvent.

Self-cleaning – Uses powerful water pressure to wash and rinse itself from the inside, cleaning the brush and pipe together.

A patented self-cleaning mechanism also ensures that any dirty water trapped in the vacuum head gets rinsed out instantly, while the B-200’s internal water management system stores clean and dirty water being in separate vessels for easy maintenance. To make cleaning every corner of your home easier, the B-200 also comes with a 157-inch power cord that ensures no plug-point is too far from where you need to clean. The power cord also retracts automatically with the push of a simple button, highlighting the B-200’s convenient design.

Starting at a discounted $259, the UWANT B-200 ships along with a hose attachment (and 2 hose stands) and two swappable bristle/brush heads for use on soft and hard surfaces. There’s also a heat-resistant glove inside the box (to protect your hand during the steam mode), and three trial 1oz cleaning solution bottles, which users can try before buying larger-sized solvent bottles on UWANT’s website (available for customers in the US, EU, JP, MAS, VN, and the UK). The B-200 ships worldwide starting December 2022, and comes with a 1-year warranty global warranty (and a 2-year warranty for the EU).

Lay’s Potato Chips Creates Finger-Washing Machine to Clean Oily Fingers

Potato chip giant Lay’s has created the Finger Washer, a tiny USB-C chargeable device that cleans your fingers after eating chips to keep them oil free. I like how it looks like a little washing machine; that was a nice touch. Me? I never actually touch the chips with my fingers; I just tilt the bag into my mouth. And I guarantee Cookie Monster would do the same thing if he were into chips instead of cookies.

The machine measures 15 cm x 11 cm (6″ x 4.3″) and sprays an ultra-fine mist of atomized alcohol inside when a finger is detected. Although I doubt it can differentiate between a finger and anything else, so don’t get any ideas. Unfortunately for anybody seriously interested in one, only five are being made, and they’re all being awarded through a lottery held by Lay’s in Japan. I’m already applying for residency.

Alternatively, clean your fingers with a travel-size bottle of hand sanitizer after chipping like a normal person who doesn’t have an automated Finger Washer. That’s what I would do if I ever touched the chips instead of just pouring them into my mouth from the bag. I’ve actually saved myself time and money, if you think about it. Those seconds and pennies add up.

Portable food cleaner uses hydroxyl ion to cleanse your fruits and veggies

One of my yearly resolutions that I only semi-fulfill is to eat more fruits and vegetables. Along with that comes a responsibility to wash them properly and remove harmful elements that may be stuck in them. Sometimes we just do a perfunctory rinse under the faucet but sometimes pesticide residues are still there and may cause more harm in the long run. So products that can help us easily clean our fruits and veggies while keeping their nutrients intact are always welcome.

Designer: Kai Xia

This product concept for a fruit and vegetable cleaner helps out water in removing these harmful pesticides. While rinsing them under the faucet is the default action, sometimes you need a little extra help. This cleaner has an ultrasonic transmitter which produces hydroxy ions to help sterilize our food without needing to add any more materials in the purification process. This will supposedly remove not just the pesticides but any dirt residue that may still be there, especially if the food is pretty fresh.

The device looks like a small humidifier or bluetooth speaker but with holes for the hydroxyl ion purification technology. There are no chemicals or raw materials added to it. All you have to do is place it in a bowl of water with the fruit or vegetable that needs to be purified. You can also use it for meat and grains as shown in the product renders. It destroys the molecular structures of the pesticides and the oxidation also kills the bacteria without affecting the shape and structure of the food.

Since it will be immersed in water, the fruit and vegetable cleaner has an IPx7 waterproof design. It comes with a charging base and it is small and portable so you can bring it everywhere with you. The renders also show different pastel colors to match all the different kinds of fresh produce that you may need to clean. This product will definitely be useful for me if I ever get around to fulfilling that goal to eat more fruits and veggies.

Innovative handheld dishwasher uses a high-pressure jet of steam to clean dishes without chemicals or soap

With a nozzle inspired by a water-saving showerhead, the Dayoo Kitchen Steam Cleaner & Dishwasher permits you to use less water to clean more dishes in mere minutes.

The contemporary dishwasher is a marvel of design and engineering… but it does have a few distinct flaws. For starters, it’s like a carwash for utensils. The nozzle within the dishwasher just senselessly sprays hot water in every possible direction, hoping to get food and grime off your utensils. It doesn’t necessarily target stains because it doesn’t ‘see’ them, and it wastes a massive amount of water trying to clean all your utensils regardless of their quantity and how they’ve been arranged on the trays. Washing utensils in your kitchen sink, however, is much more resource-efficient because you use an appropriate amount of water for a given set of utensils. The problem, though, is that it requires effort manually scrubbing grime off your utensils. Dayoo hybridizes both devices, combining them into one kitchen solution that relies on the best of both worlds.

Designer: Dayoo Design

Click Here to Buy Now: $159 $249 (36% off). Hurry, only 25 left! Raised over $230,000.

Sitting on your kitchen counter with the demeanor of a sleek EV Charging Station, Dayoo is, in fact, a handheld dishwasher that uses a high-pressure jet of hot steam to clean and sterilize your dishes. Designed to make cleaning utensils faster, effective, and energy-efficient, Dayoo’s high-pressure jet uses a spray of tiny water droplets heated to temperatures of 221°F (105°C) to clean dirt off your plate in seconds without soaking, soaping, or scrubbing (or even getting your hands dirty or greasy).

The heated steam does a more efficient job of getting grease and food off your plates and spoons, and the aerated nozzle uses less water than any traditional faucet, saving you time and water in the process. In fact, spraying your dishes clean with Dayoo is just about as easy as watering your plants, say its creators.

Dayoo hopes to offer a more effective and affordable alternative to those massive, expensive, water-hungry and power-guzzling dishwashers you find on the market. Not everyone has the space or the budget for a dishwasher, but everyone has to wash dishes, so Dayoo takes the dishwasher’s key benefits and condenses it into a small $159 appliance that fits in any kitchen, and can be used to clean more than just your dishes.

The entire device is about as uncomplicated as it gets. A wall-mounted module pressurizes and heats the water up, and a hand-shower lets you spray-clean your utensils. The entire system comes with one single stepless dial that lets you choose the water pressure intensity, and a trigger on the hand-shower lets you deploy the hot steam to clean your dishes. Dayoo can heat water up to temperatures of 221°F, which obviously raises safety concerns, but the company behind the appliance says that as long as your hand is 4 inches away from the nozzle, you’re fine. The dispersed jets of water droplets cool down pretty fast, and if you’re even slightly concerned, just pop on a pair of rubber kitchen gloves.

It’s recommended that you hold your Dayoo 0.8 inches or 2 centimeters away from your dishes to clean them effectively. As soon as the steam is released, it cools down to 122°F or 50°C, making it safe for utensils and other objects but tough on stains. The purpose of the heated steamy water, Dayoo’s engineering team highlights, is to help get tough stains out of dishes and objects. The heated water lets you clean exceptionally dirty utensils and objects without using solvents and chemicals, and Dayoo’s hand-shower even sports a swappable nozzle system that feels reminiscent of a vacuum cleaner.

The vacuum cleaner comparison feels even more apt considering the Dayoo appliance can plug out of your wall too. Designed to be carried around and used around your house Dayoo lets you even steam-clean stains from your stovetop, chimney, kitchen exhaust, oven rack, and even barbecue grill. The swappable nozzle can be replaced for one with a nozzle + scouring pad to clean grease and sticky residue, and the steam-based cleaning system works well as a mild chemical-free sterilizer too, allowing you to sterilize objects like your baby’s toys, bottles, etc. while even cleaning tables, pet-dishes, handles, surfboards, ski-boards, and your car or bicycle as well.

Sure Dayoo is still a manual, hand-operated cleaning tool, but what it lacks in the automated department (compared to your dishwasher), it more than makes up for by being a versatile cleaning gizmo that lets you swiftly and effectively clean/sterilize more than just your dishes. Its affordable nature means you can even own two separate Dayoo devices – one for your kitchen, and another to keep in your store-room or garage, for around-the-house cleaning.

Clean without worrying about any electrical problems.

The compact and affordable device (which begins shipping this month) is easy to install and doesn’t require any specific skilled expertise. It can attach to a variety of surfaces, from drywalls to marble, glass, ceramic tiles, concrete, and even wood using either adhesive strips or a nail-based mounting system (both of which come along with your Dayoo). Also along with the Dayoo appliance, come two nozzles, a silicon scrubbing pad, a measuring cup, and an oven mitt. Dayoo is convenient, compact, energy-efficient, budget-friendly, IPX6 water-resistant, child-safe, and ships with a 1-year warranty as well as a 7-day return period.

This ‘car-wash’ for your spectacles will wipe fingerprints and dust off your lenses to give you crystal clear vision

If you remember the crowdfunded ‘washing-machine’ for your AirPods from a few months ago, this one should seem like a slightly familiar product that’s potentially a lot more useful. More than 70% of all adults wear spectacles – prescription or sunglasses (that number’s going to go even higher after Apple debuts their Smart Glasses), but it seems like the only solution we’ve got to actually cleaning them involves using the corner of your shirt or clothing to wipe the lenses clean. However, your cotton tee wasn’t designed to wipe glass… in fact, chances are your cotton tee is actually damaging the glass by scratching it or eroding the coating on the lenses. Meet the LensHD, a ‘car-wash’ for your spectacles that wipes them down and practically buffs the lenses clean so you’ve got spotless, clear vision.

The LensHD is basically a one-stop cleaning station for all your spectacles. Whether they’re regular glasses or bifocals, sunglasses or nerdy glasses, the LensHD will clean all of them. The universal spectacle-cleaning gadget is roughly the size of a Bluetooth speaker, and comes with four strategically placed cleaning sponges that wipe down pretty much any sort of dirt off your lenses. The sponges rotate on a slightly offset axis, allowing them to effectively wipe down your glasses without leaving so much as a spot behind, and they’re covered with a microfiber cloth that’s easy on the lenses but tough on stains.

As a specs-wearer myself, I can’t really overstate how cool this machine is… although it isn’t quite as portable and cheap as using that microfiber cloth that comes inside your spectacle-case. However, it does a measurably better job at completely removing stains of all kinds – fingerprints, dust, drops, grease, etc. without damaging your spectacles. Just spritz the sponges with cleaning fluid, pop your spectacles in, and shut the lid, and the LensHD gets to work. The blade-shaped sponges begin rotating on either side of the lenses, wiping them clean from inside as well as the outside; and they move upwards, downwards, and sideways too, working with larger lenses and square-shaped spectacles too.

The LensHD’s patent-pending design is compact enough to easily fit on your desk or your bedside table. It charges via USB-C and can run for multiple cycles without needing a recharge. The internal sponge-discs are removable and washable under running water, and if you’ve got an entire arsenal of spectacles to clean, the sponges can be periodically replaced too. The little gizmo retails for a special early-bird price of $79 with a delivery date of November 2021. The project’s garnered over 3,300 supporters as of writing this article, which is pretty much a testament to how many people wear spectacles… and how many of them are tired of having dust, stains, and fingerprint smudges on their lenses.
