Meet the Infiniti QX90, a luxury sedan that is a more fluid evolution of the Tesla Cybertruck

The Infiniti QX90 2028 is designed to meet urban commute – by allowing you to easily switch between driving and relaxing mode.

Elon Musk claims that Tesla will have Level 5 autonomy by the end of 2021 – quite a bold statement given the extremity of AI and technological input required to achieve this feat. That means we will have a fully self-driving vehicle without any human assistance – virtually eliminating the need to fit a steering wheel inside the car. On the other hand, this concept empowers the person driving the vehicle and gives the rider complete freedom of operating modes.

Designer Johnny Jiang gives preference to human judgment while driving a vehicle – and the Infiniti QX90 2028 concept is a testament to that vision. The car’s design focuses on improving commuting by focusing on five key elements. The de-materialization, customization as per user’s needs, the experience of the driver and fellow riders, technological infusion for better function, and facilities that cater to individual needs – giving you the most comfortable drive possible.

The interiors of this sedan have a lounge-like space with a panoramic glass roof for an ultimate relaxing drive. The rear passenger seats can make a complete 180 degrees turn for an improved view or help socialize. The exteriors have a futuristic vibe going with the sharp design lines and a flowing aesthetic, striking a balance between the front and the rear. It’s this edginess merging with the fluidity that gives this car an evolved Cybertruck vibe.

The semi-autonomous vehicle adapts Level 4.5 autonomy, and it’ll have an AI companion if the driver has an emergency or is unable to drive. In addition, the intelligent cloud-based database enables functions like finding the apt parking space in an expansive parking lot to save time. For the driving experience, AI senses the driver’s emotional state, changing the interior ambiance and music to go into a softer mode.

The ability to choose the level of autonomous drive gives the car unique flexibility. Right from the adrenaline rush of zooming on a highway in manual mode to the autonomous mode for the times when you want to sit back and enjoy the view – this car gives you the best of both worlds.

Making a trip to the next big meeting or traveling to your loved ones is more than just starting at point A and reaching point B. We live in times where multitasking and squeezing out the most productive moments in life is of value. That’s why concept vehicle designers emphasize the interior ambiance and the minimal yet highly functional aspect of futuristic commuters. The exponential rate at which technology upgrades lends designers the freedom to conjure up designs that are well worthy of a sci-fi movie.

GAC 2030 U- journey by transportation designer Ray Lyu from the central academy of fine arts Beijing, China, is the perfect example. As the name implies, this desirable concept car envisions transportation in the year 2030 (which is not that far off) dominated by autonomous vehicles that’ll be mostly powered by clean energy. The self-driving feature of the future cars gives the designer leverage to maximize interior space for lounging, working, or socializing with close ones. Furthermore, this concept car influences oriental beauty in the interiors that are calming and decluttered for complete peace of mind. A perfect haven on the road for sustaining the right state of mind when you’re working on the go or simply want some time out from a busy lifestyle.

Ray’s design centers around the cozy interiors that feel like home – with a comfy lounge seating at the rear and a movable lounge seat that can be oriented in any direction and place. To the front is the working space with a low height table for placing a laptop or journal. On the outside, GAC impresses without question owing to its flowing design highlighted by the cool white tone with a tinge of subtle cool blues giving it a sexy future-worthy personality. In addition, the semi-transparent panoramic windshield glass brings an airy character to the rental ride, well complemented by the unibody design tires. And what can I say about the door opening mechanism? It is pure genius to have on a modern vehicle like this.

GAC’s design is not just a mere digital contraption, as Ray has created a scale model of the 2030 car, and I appreciate the attention to detail put in it. Overall, this concept is a very balanced design not going down the infeasible realms, which can be overdone. A big thumbs up to Ray for GAC 2030 U- journey!

A Mazda FB RX7 body kit meets Toyota Sprinter to create a funky Fast & Furious 9 worthy racer!

Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86’s agile handling and responsive steering made it tailored for Japan’s snaking roads. No doubt it was a shining star in the country’s mountain pass racing era of the late ’80s. Another racecar that lives deep-rooted in automotive fans’ memory is the Mazda FB RX7 which dominated the IMSA GTU series for seven years, winning the championship. Both these racing wheels had their charm in the prime days, and still, they go for a massive chunk of money as collector’s items.

When you intertwine both these cars and create one – it’s pure Hot Wheels magic. That’s what artist Khyzyl Saleem has mustered up in his concept renderings. Yes, this is a tribute to the 80’s era in the form of IMSA inspired AE86 that looks so made for the Fast & Furious 9 movie. Khyzyl is a big-time IMSA FB RX7 fan, and he lends his craft to the classic yet racer in a hot pink hue. The flowing body lines and the body kit are, of course, taken from the FB RX7 IMSA ride. Seeing a blend of the RX7 on top of the AE86 is total bliss for me as an automotive enthusiast.

Khyzyl has not overdone the interweaving of the classic race cars – and that hue is a total drool-worthy touch. The arched wheels with hypnotic yellow spoke patterns can’t stop me from believing it is destined for a high stake drag race with the Lamborghini Countach or Ferrari Testarossa. Whether this one wins the duel is a story for another day – it surely will win a lot of hearts!

Bugatti Type 57’s sporty electric redesign brings this crowd favorite back to the future!

Bugatti Type 57, created by Jean Bugatti, was a dream car back in 1930 and 1940, with only 710 examples produced. Such was the design of the Type 57 SC Atlantic coupe, particularly that it is to date one of the most desirable classic cars. Only four of the 57 SC were created between 1936 and 1938, with three of these still in existence. The fourth one is still being searched for over eight decades now! So you can ascertain the value of the Type 57 SC Atlantic from this fact. Rightfully the Bugatti Hommage 100 2036 concept by car designer Habib ORHAN can fill its shoes in a modern avatar of one of the greatest four-wheelers of the past century!

Habib designed the blueprint during the quarantine time in February 2021 for the Type 57 SC Atlantic-inspired concept highlighted by the vertical division with a raised seam running from the hinge to the bonnet. He imagines the futuristic electric-powered coupe in 2036 when the technical improvements make it easier to use carbon fiber for the chassis structure design. The spaceship-like C-shape (adapted from the Bugatti Ventoux Coupe) and the engine housed inside the wheels (yes, that’s not a typo!) give sneak-peak into the reimagined vehicles of the future. The concept maintains the proportions of the GT series for luxurious and emotional touch while incorporating a modern, sporty look.

Bugatti Hommage 100 2036’s tail design pays homage to the Atlantic with a riveted middle to make the car lighter. The same goes for the bonnet, which preserves the natural GT feel. Since the sporty coupe is meant for 2036, it comes with lights to emphasize the vertical line separation. It also projects the Bugatti logo on the front to lure modern car enthusiasts. A brilliant concept indeed by Habib that brings nostalgic memories of the GT series back to the future!

This IKEA + Renault concept envisions a sustainable future where vehicles are shipped as flat-pack designs!

In today’s world, where advanced mobility and complex automotive designs dominate the present and the future, a radical approach towards getting from one destination to the other is much needed. Meet Höga by design student Ryan Schlotthauer, a vehicle that adapts IKEA’s winning philosophy of production, packaging, and practical use to give the users a comfortable ride that’s highly functional. This is intertwined with Renault’s advanced mobility platform to create an urban commuter with sustainability in mind. The vehicle’s body is recycled into other products after its lifecycle keeps the waste to a minimum. Design inspiration for the practical commuter comes from the classic Bauhaus principle of clean and purposeful design.

While the vehicle looks pint-sized, its efficient design makes optimum use of every inch out there. The car ships right out of reusable crates to cut on transportation costs, and once it reaches the destination, the containers are reused to ship back broken furniture. Just like IKEA, Höga can be assembled by one person in few hours thanks to its simple LEGO-like attachable frame elements in a perfectly symmetrical design. There are 374 total parts and 114 individual parts (sounds like a lot, but this is a car we are talking about!), which can be put together piece by piece to create the Höga. The skateboard platform of the vehicle houses the four individually moving wheels, which can move in any direction for maneuvering in tight spaces. Höga’s A-frame design comes with roll cage bars and body panel gaps to prioritize the safety of a vehicle so small in size.

The interior is highly customizable to fit in extra luggage or even a small bike or stroller for transportation. The passengers can enter from the front as the windscreen opens completely, and the rear also opens up identically to load more oversized luggage. Optimum usage of space is essential, and the designer has created the blueprints very mindfully for that. At the time of purchase, the customers can try and test different interior configurations to suit their needs and taste, making Höga an irresistible option to ignore.

This Audi Quattro racer with its grungy dystopian aesthetics is what the Mad Max sequel needs!

Automotive lovers who are acquainted with Audi surely know about Quattro. The all-wheel-drive road vehicle burst into the scene in 1980, and ten million Quattro (derived from the word four-wheel-drive system) drive cars have hit the road. Based on this adventurous progression, Audi has built the electrified version of the powertrain for future mobility. This Quattro H 1993 concept designed by 3D specialist Federico Ciuffolini superimposes the vision of a dystopian future where Mad Max-like vehicles will fight for domination of resources on the planet. I can’t help but see the racing DNA of the R18 E-Tron Quattro being the inspiration for the design here.

The Quattro H 1993 concept car defines the evolution of racing culture in a world where the dynamics of lifestyle are completely radical from current times. Federico creates the blueprint with fiberglass, Kevlar, and carbon fiber construct for the ideal weight to power ratio. A powerful drivetrain and engine demand good airflow, so the use of naca and ram ducts is truly justified, hence eliminating the need to run the aero. The Quattro’s cell is made out of isolated monocoque for structural integrity and connects to the main chassis with a heavy-duty gasket.

Ballast is used to lower the cockpit barycenter to align the pilot (giving dampened solicitations) when lateral g-forces take effect at high-speed cornering. The result is a car with a very stiff and low-slung positioning on the road for maximum grip. A true racer at heart, the Quattro H 1993 amalgams the past and present racing DNA into a car of the future set in an uncertain world.

This self-driving electric car sets new landmark for automotive design by cleaning up air pollution!

Eco-friendly cars have many different faces: hybrid, electric, diesel, and biodiesel. Coming from the same studio that brought the Vessel to New York City’s Hudson Yards, Heatherwick Studio has conceptualized an autonomous electric car that goes further than reducing fossil fuel pollutants. Airo, Heatherwick Studio’s new concept electric car runs on electric power and actively cleans up the air when driven.

Airo comes complete with a state-of-the-art HEPA filtering system that removes fine particles from the air it drives through, edging the electric car’s green initiative even further. HEPA filters, or high-efficiency particulate air filters, are mechanical air filters that remove fine air particles measuring 0.3-microns in diameter. Airo’s HEPA filter is located in the vehicle’s undercarriage, where pollution from the air passes through and filters out, leaving the air around Airo that much cleaner.

In addition to its embedded air-filtering system, Airo’s interior has a versatile configuration that can be altered to form multi-functional spaces specifically designed for today’s progression toward a mobile lifestyle. Inside, Airo’s seats are fully rotational to form social spaces centered around the car’s four-leaf table that unfolds to create a lounge-like booth and folds away when driving. A collapsible screen can also morph the inside of the car into a pod for gaming after long drives. Settling into the night, Airo’s seats fully recline to form a cozy double bed, and the electric car’s transparent, glazed roof turns opaque when you’re ready for lights-out.

Slated for production in 2023, Airo is designed for IM Motors and runs as a fully electric vehicle equipped with autonomous and self-driving modes. Whenever you’d like to turn Airo’s interior into a dining booth or lounge area, the driving is taken care of through smart technology. Constructed from weathered steel, Heatherwick Studio designed a charging station for IM Motors that will become an integral piece of city infrastructure for the future of electric vehicles.

When the driving day is done, Airo’s inside can morph into a spacious double bed that enhances any mobile lifestyle.

Planned as city infrastructure, Heatherwick Studio created charging stations that mimic the structure of foxtail agave plants and streetlamps.

Maserati’s sleek yet luxurious automotive merges the brand’s past + future of autonomous supercars!

Maserati has always pushed the envelope of luxury and performance right from its inception in 1914, and till date. So what does the future hold for the Italian luxury supercar maker in an era where the automotive industry is making the rapid shift towards eco-friendly autonomous driving? Automotive design student Dohoon Jeong imagines the future which will have a semblance of classic infused in the design. A future where gorgeous design DNA and attractive sensibility will take precedence over the practicality of driving. The focus will be on the Trident structure, contrasting visual appeal, and the technical sharpness of the muscular body.

Dohoon calls it the Maserati Tridente, and the concept draws inspiration from the fluidic sculpture of Fountain of Neptune, chrome texture or the retro rides, and the exposed interior of the classics that the Italian super car maker has been known for in the yesteryears. In fact, the DNA is influenced more by the classic design of the Maserati cars which are etched in history as one of the greatest. The wide flowing design and the nostalgic roadster characteristics have been amalgamated together seamlessly for an artistic car of the future – having a very definitive interconnection between the interior and exterior as the body frame inspired by the Trident blade takes shape.

The sharp blade of the Trident encapsulated in a square logo and the shark grille highlights the Maserati DNA upfront. The copper texture further adds the luxury element to the two-seater autonomous supercar. The seating is embellished in all red hues for a royal feel sans any futuristic dashboard elements to keep things clean. Maserati Tridente is the deserving mascot of the brand’s future – the design speaks for itself, doesn’t it?

Meet the sustainable Lamborghini of the future – The Lamborghini E_X electric automotive concept!

An electric Lamborghini – what would it actually be like? If we believe transportation designer Andrea Ortile, it’ll balance a clean shape and complexity of details where required. The concept is dubbed Lamborghini E_X, inspired by the design DNA of the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero and the 1973 Lamborghini Countach LP 400. The sports car will be a fully electric vehicle with the battery pack right in the middle of the chassis under the interior cabin, and to keep the overall weight down a carbon fiber frame is used.

On the inside, this electric Lamborghini gets the single-seater configuration – just like the ones on the fighter jet planes or racing prototypes. The steering on this concept gets a futuristic vibe with its dynamic shape, and the HUD is integrated right behind it. The paddle shifters look so inviting – I virtually want to try them out. To charge up the powerful ride, all one has to do is plug in the charging hose into the retracting portal located at this Lamborghini concept’s front left-hand side – just behind the front wheel. Like some other concepts or even prototype vehicles having an all-glass windshield that runs to the rear, this one has a body-colored perforated film. How that’s going to affect the visibility is anybody’s guess.

To lend the Lamborghini a futuristic DNA, this sports car gets an array of LED projectors that run all the way along the upper grill section. The designer has not tinkered much with the look for the rear, giving it a balanced mix of the Aventador, Centenario, and even the Huracan. So, could the future electric Lamborghini look like this one? You can bet your bottom dollar on that assumption since the concept is highly practical. Lamborghini needs to give this one consideration!

This batman-worthy Chevrolet SS concept radiates Batmobile character, sans the all black look!

The 1970 Chevrolet SS is one classic car that serves as the perfect platform for hotrod lovers to modify – and its hot property even to date. The big fat tires, the bulging V8 engine, a distinct street racing character, and the pure joy of driving this mean machine to bamboozle onlookers is something of an addiction. But when the Chevrolet SS gets a makeover that takes it to a god-like level, it is undeniable.

Coming from the designer of the Dodge Demon having a striking Bumblebee character – yes we are talking about Al Yasid – this concept design elevates the muscular charisma of the Chevrolet to a level where it can even be deemed as a Batman worthy ride. Yes, a Batmobile-like extended rear gives it that peculiar crime-fighting machine aesthetic – only if the hotrod could be painted in the signature all-black hue. The look comes courtesy of Yasid’s second layer of modification to the Bandido Chevrolet SS from one of his earlier renders – virtually bettering the remake a step further. According to Yasid, who gave the ride aero feel overall thanks to the over fenders, “The single central fin always work, no doubt about that.”

The mean machine gets a dual-tone color with the hood, front bumper, and front fenders painted in black and the rest of the body getting a light silver treatment. The black dual stripes on the roof and the hint of black on the rear, give this Chevrolet a definite road presence. Of course, the big fat wheels hint at the muscle car’s drag racing DNA, and the presence of a wheelie bar would do this ride the justice. I’m sure it has got the thrust boosters and a fire-spitting exhaust ready for a duel!
