The Power Of Budsband

Like most people do it, I too pack my earbuds neatly with my laptop in its bag, but whenever I pull them out, they are a tangled mess. For some odd reason they become unruly and unmanageable. Imagine a client’s Skype call coming in and I pull out the earbuds but the wires are messed up! I’m sore and disturbed, I need this Budsband NOW! I’m sure you resonate with my story too!

What makes them stand apart from the rest of the brigade is their innovative design. Budsband is a simple, silicone band organizer that stores your earbuds in a tangle-free fashion. It attaches to the cord and can easily shorten or tether it, if needed.

If you have seen other cord organizers, you will understand why this widget is the best. Let me explain:

  • Budsband is small enough to stay unobtrusively attached on the cord so it’s always available and you can’t misplace.
  • The simple minimal design comes with no fasteners, like Velcro or magnets, which might fasten to stuff in your pocket. Available in six vibrant colors.
  • The fast, quick release of your stored earbuds ensures no missed calls due to time consuming unwinding.

Two words LOVE IT, two more: GET IT!

Deliciously In Order: Doughnut Earphone Organizer

Doughnut Headphone Organizer

No, this isn’t a bite-sized doughnut, although it’s easy to see how most people can mistake it for one. The Doughnut Earphone Organizer is, as its name implies, an organizer that you can use to keep your earbuds in order when you’re not using it.

I used to coil my earphones around my iPod when I was done listening to music and didn’t really see a need for an organizer. I’d end up having to replace my earbuds in a few months’ time though, because the added stress of just coiling them around eventually wore the wire down. So if you have to have an organizer, why not choose something as yummy and easy-to-use as this little doughnut right here?

Doughnut Headphone Organizer1

Just pull the frosting part up, coil your earphones around the middle, and put the frosting back in place. And voila–stowed away earbud wires without the mess.

The Doughnut Earphone Organizer is priced at $6.76 and is available in three colors.

Be tangle-free until we’re cable-free!

Untile we go completely wireless, earphone cords and mobile phone charging cables are must haves… which means tangles and knots aren’t going anywhere soon either. The Pop-up Cord Wrap aims to resolve the problem of cable management so they stay organized and tangle-free for easy access. The design contains 3 compartments for different sized cables. Made entirely of rubber, it pops up so cables can be coiled and pushes back to store them neatly. Whichever layer you need, just pop it out!

The Butler Dock Empties Your Pockets

Everyone needs a place to stow the stuff that fills their pockets. As for myself, I tend to leave my keys in my pockets at all times, because I’ve forgotten them before, my smartphone is near me most of the day, and I usually keep my wallet on a cupboard in my bedroom. However, the Butler looks like a good centralized location for all of your stuff so you don’t lose track of it.

the butler smartphone dock wallet

Designed by Curtis Micklish, the wall-mounted Butler will fit your wallet and keys in its top cubby, and your smartphone on the side slot, letting it do double-duty as a clock. There’s a concealed space for your charging cord, glasses, hats, scarves, or whatever other items you absolutely need to carry with you during the day. The backside has a section to route your charging cord and extension cord, in case your are mounting it farther away from an outlet.

While the default slot will hold any iPhone, you can also order it for a Samsung Galaxy if you’d like.

Desk Rail Keeps Your Desk in Line, Literally.

If you’re like me, you’ve got lots of stuff scattered across your desk, and it looks like quite a mess. I’m always on the hunt for ways to keep things in order, and I think I may have found something worthy of placement in front of my 27-inch iMac.

desk rail

The Desk Rail embraces the “less is more” school of design, providing a convenient desk organizer in what amounts to an anodized aluminum channel, with a grippy foam lining. This simple design allows it to hold on to everything from smartphones to pens to eyeglasses to small notebooks. Plus, it measures 16-7/8″ wide – exactly the same width as Apple’s Extended Keyboard. On the bottom of the Desk Rail, you’ll find silicon feet to prevent it from scratching your desk and providing clearance for your keyboard’s cable. Weighing in at 2.5 pounds, it’s also unlikely to slip around.

desk rail 2

It’s even got room for you to run charging cables from either end of the rail, thanks to moveable doors with a small cable cutout. This ingenious design eliminates the need for a docking stand for your gadgets – which I always thought were a rip-off anyhow.

desk rail 3

If you head over to Kickstarter and order right away, you might still be able to get one of the early bird specials for the Desk Rail, and pay just $55(USD) like I did. Otherwise, it’ll cost you $65. In either case, there’s a $10 shipping fee as well. There’s also a limited-edition anodized black version that sells for $135, and a crazy-wide 36-inch version for $185 if you need lots of space.

Grabit Robot Not Really a Robot, But Does Really Grab Things

While there are literally a million pen and toothbrush caddies out there, most of them are pretty boring if you ask me. If you’re looking for a fun way to keep your stick-like objects organized, then you might want to pick up the Grabit Robot.

grabit robot 1

Contrary to its name, this little guy isn’t an actual robot, but he sure looks like one, and that’s good enough in my book. Designed by Leo and Angie Fajardo of Trinkits, this multipurpose holder has two grippy hands which are perfect for holding on to toothbrushes, pens, pencils, and other tall items. Grabit is made of sturdy ABS plastic and measures about 5-inches-tall.

The Grabit Robot is currently raising funds for production over on Kickstarter, and will ship in five colors: bright blue, mango, white, bright red, and lime green. The first 100 contributors can grab a Grabit for $25(USD), while others can get in on the action for $30. The project needs just $7000 by April 17 to go into production, so it should have no problem reaching that goal.

Legend of Zelda Key Hanger: Don’t Forget Your Keys!

It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this. No, not a sword, silly. Your house keys. This clever Zelda key hanger reminds you that you’d better take your keys with you when you walk out the door.

zelda key hanger

This Zelda key hanger measures 7.25″ x 5.1″ and was made by Etsy seller April Iverson Jessi Stanfil who clearly knows how to grab her keys in style. It’s an awesome geek deal at just $17(USD). It’s available in 1, 2 and 3-hook versions. And it will hang on your wall with no damage to the wall thanks to some 3M picture hangers on the back. That makes it perfect for apartment dwellers – at least those who care about getting their security deposit back.

Grab your keys and head off to save your beloved princess.

Punkt ES 01: Reduce Your Cable Squid by 75%

How big is your cable squid? Mine is pretty big, and threatening to take over more and more space on and around my desk. It’s never been easy to organize cables, but Switzerland’s Punkt seeks to change this by simply hiding away all of your cables in a sleek box.

punkt es 01 georges moanack extension socket

The Punkt ES 01 was designed by Georges Moanack, and it allows you to tuck away cables under its rounded lid. Chaos becomes organized, and it’s good looking enough that you won’t be worried if people see it in your home office. Its neutral colors blend in with most interiors. It’s got a soft white LED that indicates its power status.

punkt cable organizer

The ES 01 has 5 sockets, a removable lid, and a central power button to power all of the outlets off simultaneously. The way that the sockets are positioned is supposed to allow you to plug in power supplies that cover two or three sockets.

The ES 01 comes in red, white or black and will be available shortly. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s only going to be available with European sockets for now.

Officeoriginair Table Island Organizer: You Own Private Mountain Island

My desk is pretty messy. I’m not ashamed to admit it, but maybe if I had a desk organizer like this one from Officeoriginair, I’d be more tidy. Its minimalist design is definitely something attractive and distinctive for any desk.

officeoriginair tableisland organizer

The Table Island was designed by the Netherlands-based Officeoriginair for Royal VKB, and it’s basically an office tray that’s made from cork. It’s designed to hold all of your daily items, from your phone, sunglasses, desktop accessories and even your tablet. The different organizing tabs are at different heights, making it look like a mountainous landscape.

You can get your own Table Island for €39.95 (~$50 USD) from Royal VKB. It looks like there might be a black version, but I don’t see it listed for sale anywhere.
